    That the last place sword, the one from DS3, is still so good says all you need to know about this weapon. You can't go wrong with it no matter which game you're playing. Michael Saki definitely loves this sword.

    No Dragon Bone Smasher? I know it doesn't specifically look like any of Guts' weapons, but the description makes it clear that's it's an outright reference. They just simply wanted to cleverly nod to it, rather than just straight up include a Dragonslayer in the game. That, coupled with DBS being an absolute monster in the game makes it probably my favorite Berserk-like weapon in the series.

    I used gut’s greatsword for ds3 my first playthrough, I just utilized the regular moveset and never used its weapon art. But the way u can change from horizontal to vertical swings is so handy. Two-handed just stun locks the shit out of most. I need to pick up and try the other ultra great swords but using it for a whole playthrough was definitely a homage to berserk lol

  • @dhjerth
    @dhjerth หลายเดือนก่อน +18

    The DS1 greatsword looks like Guts sword from golden age arc, before a certain cataclysmic event. Later greatswords mimic the later design. I wonder if that is to say we were still naive in DS1, and somehow the world is gonna get even shittier.

  • @Jozska669
    @Jozska669 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    One of the coolest things about the Elden Ring Greatsword is that you can block with it very effectively and no one mentions it. You don't need a shield so you can have heavier armor, and in heavy armor with high strength and vigor, you have enough damage negation so the 84% physical guard rate is really good. You won't even notice the chip damage when you block with the Greatsword. Truly one of the Greatswords of all time.

  • @cantisama256
    @cantisama256 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Should've mentioned Braggart's Roar in Elden Ring, since it changes its heavy charged attack into into a running vertical slice that gives hyper armor when charging. It felt like great rushing into some bosses with that move

    I don't see the advantage of the vertical slams over the horizontal slashes. The slashes can hit like half a room of monsters, versus the vertical slams can only hit people in a line or very close together. Also, no need to aim the horizontal slashes at all, it's a great angle (except for tiny monsters).

    • @derekmorgan4938
      @derekmorgan4938 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      It's good to have both in a weapon because horizontal slashes are bad in tight hallways and stuff because it a clank off the wall

    • @btchiaintkidding7837
      @btchiaintkidding7837 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      vertical slash can be amazing,
      just look at ds1 zweihander. if it has incredible range, insane poise dmg, absurdly large hitbox and an even larger stun hitbox (which zwei has) then it is game breakingly good.
      very few people actually realize that ds1 zwei has insane range, and a huge hitbox and even a bigger stun hitbox so even if you somehow press it too early and miss you will still stun all nearby (all 3/4 enemies in front of you including bosses). and since greatsword has identical dps+scaling with zwei in ds1 means it applies to Greatsw0rd as well. only reason it fals short is cuz of not having the comically large range as well hitbix/stn hitbox of zwei
      in my first playthrough of ds1, i didnt learn dodge timings, didnt parry once , all i did was zwei's vertical slam and stunl0cked everything to 0 HP. it even stuocks super smough. you can stunl0ck everything to 0HP except only Seath, Kalameet and Manus. do you realize how broken that vertical swing actually is ?

    Not quite the Gurserk, but actually playing with the Zweihander right now and just past Morgott but kind of still not entirely sold on BEEG sword. I think I just kind of don't know what to do when there's no Impaling Thrust? Lol
    The moveset is a bit awkward, I feel. The poke is not QUITE as long as it looks like it would be and the horizontal swipes are too high up and end up missing a bunch of smol enemies like Imps, Rats and Basilisks sometimes, which is quite annoying.
    Was good to be reminded Vacuum Slice exists though. Lion's Claw is solid and I've used it a fair amount. Also had more success than I expected with Hoarfrost Stomp, which was pretty nice.
    But recently remembered Giant Hunt and this MAY be the ticket? Just stunlocking all the Omen in the sewers like crazy, had a refreshingly good time
    Am I sleeping on other good AoW options?

    Funny for me the one in DS3 is way better than in Elden ring. The moveset is incredibly good and makes the game a breeze. The only greatsword that you can easily use in tight spaces, good for single targets and crowds as well. Also looks the best out of all of them (elden ring greatsword is more the golden age weapon).

    DS2 version is the best. It has the hardest hitting R1s and L1s in the entire game with its 1.3 counter and because of the fact that it is best uninfused (pure physical damage is far superior than split or elemental in DS2). Also the range and the poise damage are very important because in DS2 enemies have the highest poise of all the Souls games.

    Look wise I feel the one from Elden Ring is best. It just looks so smooth. Plus paired with lions claw and it just becomes the best pancake maker around.
    Usage wise though I might have to go with DS2. Massive damage no matter the infusion. Poise breaks every hit and the range is great. Anytime I try other weapons in DS2 I just go back to "ole reliable" because that is what it is. It is reliable and can power through most of the stupid shit that game dishes out.

    Upon thorough reflection and careful consideration, it is with unwavering conviction and unbridled enthusiasm that I wholeheartedly endorse the sentiments conveyed in the video under examination. In a world often beset by uncertainty, discord, and ambiguity, encountering a source of insight and inspiration as profound as the one encapsulated within the confines of this video is nothing short of a revelation. From its incisive analysis of pressing social issues to its impassioned plea for collective action and transformative change, every facet of the video resonates with a clarity and urgency that is as refreshing as it is indispensable.
    To begin with, I find myself in enthusiastic concordance with the overarching thesis espoused by the video, which boldly asserts the inherent dignity and worth of every individual, irrespective of race, gender, creed, or socioeconomic status. In an era marked by rampant inequality, systemic injustice, and pervasive discrimination, such a clarion call for universal recognition and respect strikes a resonant chord, inspiring hope and galvanizing action in equal measure. Moreover, the video’s emphasis on empathy, compassion, and solidarity as guiding principles for social interaction and political engagement represents a beacon of light in an often tumultuous sea of moral ambiguity and ethical uncertainty.
    Furthermore, I am deeply appreciative of the video’s nuanced engagement with complex issues such as climate change, economic inequality, and political polarization, which it tackles with a rare combination of intellectual rigor and moral clarity. Rather than succumbing to the facile temptation of reductionism or ideological dogmatism, the video adopts a holistic approach that acknowledges the multifaceted nature of contemporary challenges and the interconnectedness of seemingly disparate phenomena. In doing so, it invites viewers to transcend narrow parochialisms and embrace a more expansive conception of citizenship and global responsibility.
    Moreover, I am heartened by the video’s unwavering commitment to truth, reason, and evidence-based discourse, which it upholds with a steadfastness that is as admirable as it is rare in an age of rampant misinformation and epistemic relativism. By foregrounding the importance of critical thinking, empirical inquiry, and intellectual humility, the video empowers viewers to become active participants in the marketplace of ideas, equipped with the tools necessary to discern fact from fiction, reason from rhetoric, and wisdom from folly.
    In conclusion, it is with unreserved enthusiasm and unqualified admiration that I wholeheartedly endorse the sentiments expressed in the video under consideration. From its impassioned advocacy for social justice and human rights to its rigorous engagement with complex issues of global significance, every aspect of the video resonates with a clarity and urgency that is as inspiring as it is indispensable. May its message continue to reverberate far and wide, igniting the flames of hope, empathy, and solidarity in the hearts of all who encounter it.
