Guides so rarely go over each class's mechanics/gimmicks in depth(totems, stances, auras, blessings and seals, etc...). They usually get glossed over with a "and keep in mind that "x" mechanic might vary in different situations, so remember to keep that in mind." It also gives a great foundation on which a new player could build their necessary skill set and develop out of initial bad habits. You specifically brought up totem placement, for example, which will lead them into thinking about positioning in general if they think on it long enough. I look forward to seeing what you guys come up with for the other classes. I used to love thinking about this stuff back in the day(good god I'm getting old...). Though, I was a paladin so my thoughts were about how to abuse Judgement and seal effects. There was the obvious Judgement of the Crusader into Seal of Righteousness for more damage. And Ret Aura to increase threat generation(when you could actually find a group that would let you tank). But, that was something pretty much everyone did. One of the combos I remember using a lot that wasn't quite as common was Judgement of Light into Seal of the Crusader. The attack speed boost gives more chances to proc the heal effect. Great for keeping you alive just that little bit longer if you've got an AFK healer, or if you wanted to push paladin just that little bit further than most people thought it could go('cause Light knows they couldn't survive long enough already...). Hmm... good times. As always, I loved the vid and keep up the good work!

If I make pvp videos in classic and anyone ask me for advice I swear I will just link all your respective videos lol. This is the best guide I’ve ever seen for shamans. Your the man
I know it might seem obvious, but it would have been a good idea to mention that dropping mana spring totem cost quite a bit of mana by itself, and it takes 20 seconds (untalented) to actually break even after dropping it. Anything less than that is a net loss.
I really use it for the group play when an extra mob gets pulled in a dungeon and our healer is at like half mana or our dps are low mana and we are still pulling. I never use it solo
@@jaredmatagi971 Hm, for leveling enh shaman is the best bet and to keep rolling he needs this totem, as well as there is no real alternative with other water totem. If combats around this area will continue more than 20 seconds it totally worth it. Of mobs are just far from totem area, pool them into it. If enh is doing quite nice damage, while leveling, fights are not always this simple, so usually it takes a while and totem is totally worth it's cost.
Totem twist macro as enchance, your rogues and warriors will love you. Wind fury for 1 second, then switch to your grace or tranquil. Repeat every 10 seconds.

I didn't play sham in vanilla classic.. my best friend did. I can tell you hands down... this class was 'the' go to need you to help us get through ANYthing in vanilla. if you want to have fun, be versatile and trust me... they were VERY dangerous in pvp... play a sham. You won't be topping any dps or healing meters... however no one will love you more. They just made everyone smile when they came into the group. Poison cleansing totem is also very important for pvp. I throw it down every time I fight a rogue. This is because the rogue ability blind is actually a poison effect in classic and therefore you can be cured of blind while you are CCed which always throws off the rogues since usually they use blind wait 5 sec and go to stealth but with this totem down and pulsing every 5 secs they won't be able to restealth and therefore make fights much easier, since for some reason they never bother killing it..
Very nice guide. I'd also recommend a curse/poison notification addon, along the lines of decursive. Although I don't believe decursive per se will be allowed in classic. Fingers crossed, lol.
Oh you made me miss my old shammy so much (you know before they took away the support aspect of the class), I've been wavering a bit over Classic recently - not because of anything wrong with Classic but because of the behaviour of the company. Seeing stuff like this make me edge towards giving them a second (3rd/4th/5th) chance, I think it's basically Stockholm syndrome now
It ticks for ~70 every 2 seconds when you have ~900 addheal. That means it heals 2100 health to each party member in your group per minute. Problem is that it shares element with Mana Spring & Fire Resistance Totem. That is limiting its valuability quite a lot for many raid encounters
Thanks for this amazing guide, never played classic and having a blast with enhancement shaman.. I will play pvp mostly, either elemtal or enhanced but I think healing will be pretty great too.. I hope it doesn't make too much of a difference as an orc without the troll cast speed racial..
I appreciate you not binding the back-pedalling button "S" :D. Back-pedalling can be useful especially against rogues. Turning your character sideways to strafe gives them the chance to backstab you. If a rogue is right up in your face trying to get behind you, back-pedal and turn your character quickly to face them with your mouse :D
Okay guys, this might be a little off topic, but I trust your knowledge of Shaman totems more than any PUGs or Shamans in my guild :) For a Dagger rogue who relies on BS (and hopefully critting every BS) not white hits, which totem is better? WF or GoA? I've asked to be put in groups with Druids and Hunters to get the GOA totem agility bonus, but I have shamans in the raid say, "Don't you want the 20% crit that WF offers over the agility bonus?" Ya, that guy is on crack, but are extra white swings on a dagger rogue better than the extra agility? If you guys aren't sure, could you point me in a good direction? I'd really like something with some math from Classic, not Vanilla, but I cannot seem to find anyone that has tested this, and I know you guys like charts and people who like charts, so I thought you might know. Just found your videos and wish I had looked for them before leveling. I decided to level enh 2H slow weapon. Now 56 and am wondering when to swap to Resto? That’s been my plan all along, level and start healing. Do you have any recommendations as to the right level? I have been doing LBRS and BRD and have some healing gear and will be making red dragonscale chest tomorrow.
@@DefcampMelderonTV Thanks! Would you do me a huge favor and give me your thoughts on not using the whole sit and crit mechanic on a priest? I mean it doesn't seem like it would be good for raiding and I don't really mind not using while leveling but I'm stumped as to where the two extra points might go best.
This will help me correct some stuff like I have been using stoneskin in favour of strength of earth so I will probably change that up. I am level 36 and using a two handed axe with windfury but I feel kinda squishy I am wondering if I will notice a big difference once I get to 40 to use mail? I have a few mail pieces so far that I have collected which should make for a quick upgrade! Last question I had was when you are leveling and use a fire nova totem and it burst but doesn't kill would it be best to not use another fire totem or put up my searing totem?
For single target, I always use searing totem. 2H enhancement, in my opinion will always feel squishy. a 1H + Shield build may be better or use rockbiter instead of WF for more consistent kill times
I kind of get ya. But every class has bag space dedicated to stuff. And I have as many key binds on my shaman as any other class. The total amount of spells are the same
On private servers (Northdale and Lightbringer atleast) Totemic Mastery (sets range to 30) and the T1 (sets range to 30) stacks, don't know if that will work on classic though, reason is because it's either written wrong or the devs programmed it wrong, because it doesn't set the range to 30, but instead increase the range by 10. So, on the p.servers, u can get a 40yard radius (not diameter). Also, u keep saying that the totems usually won't pulse when it's placed down, from my experience on Northdale and Lightbringer, they always pulsed when i placed them, making the water cleansing totems BiS on Chromaggus. Also, most imporant thing u missed out on. "Totem Twisting" the art of placing down ur WF totem to provide the 10sec buff to ur party, then replacing it with GoA to give Agi while WF is still active. Then when WF is running out, u place it back down again and rinse and repeat.
@@DefcampMelderonTV Oh don't worry, i am really looking forward to the next video. I've always enjoyed ur shaman vids, found a few faults here and there, but they've been very rich with knowledge for me to expand my own. Shaman 4ever!
Totems not in LoS STILL DO provide their buff if the player in still in range. I think you may want to check this with Classic as I have been noticing it while playing.
Not possible to drop more than 1 totem at once because of the GCD. However, u can make a sequence macro so by spamming 1 button u'll place down 4 different totem one after the other. I don't have acces to a macro like that myself, but a little googling can go a long way.
The first link is wrong, it is /guides/18/the-egregious-guide-to-resto-shaman Orcbit's Pre-raid BIS List is gone. I see a recent two-part: 3Bmoyz2TkAk B29u3MwA-s8
Do you happen to have any stats on spell power coefficients for the fire totems by any chance? Possibly the mana regens and heal totems also get affected by spell power too?
I actually found one you had already made. thanks once again. :) docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1tB7OQLNrrG02EKOpxoM02yzb8U1njuk5eBGCN9NE_2Q/edit#gid=27427168
So really random question, I started a shaman alt on classic and I’m noticing my totems aren’t doing the thing where they make my group sparkle? Anyone know what I mean lol? It’s a really minor thing but it irritates me. Maybe this wasn’t added till tbc but I could have sworn it was a thing in vanilla too.
Shaman seems amazing in vanilla. Alot of classes are pigenholded into spamming one spell. While shaman retain alot of spells to use. Gonna be my choice for vanilla!
Flame tongue totem can be very useful in scholomance for those guys that are immune to physical 😅 forgot to bring a mage and we just dropped that totem and with warriors and rogues and healer using lightning bolt we downed them no problem
You may not know this but Stoneclaw Totem is also useful in pvp. A rank 1 Stoneclaw Totem cost very little mana, but will knock enemy rogues out of stealth, so you don't have to use an expensive magma totem to guard against cheap shot and ambush.
99% sure no, but stoneclaw will cuz the way it taunts is that it does an aoe attack of 0 damage with high threat, so even tho its 0 damage, its still counted as damage and removes stealth.
I never understod why shamans would be forced to get Restorative Totems, Mana Tide Totem. If casters and healers are out of mana, they are doing it wrong. You won't use that healing totem, the mana totem is a good buff to the team though, but then you have to put 6 points to boost it more and get mana tide. Same with Healing Grace, if tank loses aggro, you are just healing to much, just chill a bit and this talent is 3 wasted points.
I actually loose steam to level my shaman after i got my air totem. I was bracing myself lets do this. Fly to thousand needle then like "what? thats it?! Oh man :( "
Call of Water is the best proof out there that blizzard hates shamans ;) Also; frost and fire resistance totems have some use vs mages. Any chance totem twisting will be a thing? I think it's doable with as enh with Totemic Focus, Wisdom Flask and Mana pots on cooldown (not counting runes/mp5), and also, not using shocks/stormstrike. Also if you manage to ground spells like polymorph, you can get use out of a single grounding multiple time, can be very hillarious when you encounter noob casters ;).

I kind of get ya. But every class has bag space dedicated to stuff. And I have as many key binds on my shaman as any other class. The total amount of spells are the same
@@DefcampMelderonTV I play rogue and feel I have a lot of free buttons but shaman or warlock I'm struggling
Why not swap earth and air in the 2x2 cluster keybinds so it represents where the totems drop
awesome guild man ! i like it !
Yup, working on that for the next guide for sure! There are many other topics as well. Stay tuned
@@DefcampMelderonTV Oh don't worry, i am really looking forward to the next video. I've always enjoyed ur shaman vids, found a few faults here and there, but they've been very rich with knowledge for me to expand my own. Shaman 4ever!
I´m really split between shaman or warlock for classic. Problem is i don´t really wanna rely on alts to do outdoor stuff or farm gold! xD
Totems not in LoS STILL DO provide their buff if the player in still in range. I think you may want to check this with Classic as I have been noticing it while playing.
I can't find any info on this. Does spell hit effect fire totems?
Great video! Is there a way to make a macro to drop multiple totems at a time?
They have a global cooldown. Not possible far as I know.
Not possible to drop more than 1 totem at once because of the GCD. However, u can make a sequence macro so by spamming 1 button u'll place down 4 different totem one after the other. I don't have acces to a macro like that myself, but a little googling can go a long way.
The first link is wrong, it is /guides/18/the-egregious-guide-to-resto-shaman
Orcbit's Pre-raid BIS List is gone. I see a recent two-part:
3Bmoyz2TkAk
B29u3MwA-s8
I'll watch this later since it's really late, but warrior here. Windfury windfury windfury please and thank you :)
Do you happen to have any stats on spell power coefficients for the fire totems by any chance? Possibly the mana regens and heal totems also get affected by spell power too?
I assume as all totems are insta cast and the normal set up is 100% for a 3.5 second cast, we would be looking at about 42% or so?
I actually found one you had already made. thanks once again. :) docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1tB7OQLNrrG02EKOpxoM02yzb8U1njuk5eBGCN9NE_2Q/edit#gid=27427168
great job! thanks a lot!
I'll check and see next time I'm in a group I haven't even noticed it.
Thankyou so much!
Can you stack totem buffs with different ranks or talent ranks?
No, totem effects do not stack. The highest rank totem effect should be applied
Shaman seems amazing in vanilla. Alot of classes are pigenholded into spamming one spell. While shaman retain alot of spells to use. Gonna be my choice for vanilla!
tranquility for tanking?
I forget. Does windfurry and flame tongue totem stack?
I recall that you can't have more than one temporary weapon effect. Like sharpening stone, poison and totem buff.
@@bjrnification correct. If rogues puts poison on mainhand wep = no windfury buff.
yeah, basically the last placed weapon enhancement totem will be on your weapon
Does Restorative Totems round up or down on a .5?
What's the coefficient on healing stream from +hSP?
my advanced shaman guide part 2 goes over that, its about 2-3%
Thank you
Flame tongue totem can be very useful in scholomance for those guys that are immune to physical 😅 forgot to bring a mage and we just dropped that totem and with warriors and rogues and healer using lightning bolt we downed them no problem
hey dude, u got wrong coords for step 5 water totem quest, its about 33:67
good guide, but you fail to mention how if youre on the fly tanking, stoneclaw totem is great to pick up healer aggro! from multi mobs!
You may not know this but Stoneclaw Totem is also useful in pvp. A rank 1 Stoneclaw Totem cost very little mana, but will knock enemy rogues out of stealth, so you don't have to use an expensive magma totem to guard against cheap shot and ambush.
C, F, T, R are all key-binds I use for main spells... just get an addon to mange it.
thank you
Great video
Does spell crit gear effect the crit of a fire totem?
Yes, totem crit is spell based
How do you recall or simply remove totem in order to prevent unnecessary aggro?
Run away and drop new totems further back. Recall didn't come in to the game until much later.
Where is the totem twisting?
On the advanced shaman guide. Should be in the description
Can the earthbinder totem remove stealth from rouges as well?
99% sure no, but stoneclaw will cuz the way it taunts is that it does an aoe attack of 0 damage with high threat, so even tho its 0 damage, its still counted as damage and removes stealth.
I am enhance totem master. My way or the wrong way.
pvp totem loadout?
Looking forward to classic for Shaman play alone. I miss the way totems were. They really ruined our totems.
Fly to thousand needle then like "what? thats it?! Oh man :( "
Stoneclaw totem does pulse right away.
As enhancement I usually don't get the air totem while leveling. I save that 30% attack speed buff for a rainy day.
Lol redefining "fully raid buffed" gives run speed too ye?
Neil Degrasse Tyson??
Call of Water is the best proof out there that blizzard hates shamans ;)
Also; frost and fire resistance totems have some use vs mages.
I hate to break it to you. But earthbind kiting was a thing since week 1 of Vanillia.
