The draenai shaman lore is actually very cool. Every shaman trainer is "broken" because they are all veterans of the major battles in outland. They were all paladins, and the orcs basically counterspelled them, but permanently, so they can never cast holy spells again. After months or years of not being able to cast spells, they started to go crazy, and their bodies degenerated, many becoming "lost ones", which are common in outland but also appear near the dark portal even vanilla/classic wow. But finally, the elements noticed them and basically said "look bro I know you want to cast flash of light and seal of command but what about chain heal and windfury instead??"
I remember being one of a few elemental shamans on the server back in TBC getting mad burst dmg with my T6 up to a point poeple thought something is broken with their meters. Been such an amazing time of my life, will relieve it hopefully this year again. (Quit WoW after TBC, so really hyped to go back)
And the tier 5 bonuses are worse than stated. Enhancement shamans getting a faster heal proc is useless in raids, as is elementals getting a cheaper heal proc.

It's going to be interesting to see how enhancement threat works out. The game is using the Legion client, but I remember back in the day that there was a multiplicative threat effect with shaman totems and with windfury proccing enhance would be cruising along and then BAM...aggro. I really hope that the totems don't generate threat the way that that they used to. Enhance shamans are going to be in for a lot of pain if the threat is exactly like it used to be in TBC.
So you're hoping enhance shamans do not work exactly the way they did in real TBC? Struggling to understand your point, what do you mean by game using Legion client does that have some kind of effect?
I started playing in TBC all those years ago. I didnt really play classic much. I leveled to 40 or so and stopped playing. But when TBC comes out I will make my Draenei Enhancemeng Shaman and relive the old memories of raiding black temple and sunwell :D

Been looking forward to this video. Tough choice ahead for me. One thing I've been wondering was how / if spell batching was going to effect Ele shaman. Loved my hunter in Tbc, skipped out playing it in classic to try something different, but tbc hunter was great, so hard time choosing between ele, druid, and hunter. Felt like I missed out on shaman in TBC but leveling a shaman during TBC launch sounded tough, now we got prepatch so I'm considering it.
Man, really struggling weather to keep going with a level 60 druid or switch for Shaman or Paladin and start from scratch, originally picked druid because it seemed fun and had never played one in vanilla, versatile (was thinking BC in future), has skip content button (stealth), good solo leveling but then again, just something in the class just doesn't quite feel ''mine'' so to speak
Indeed it is, and that's why they put in a debuff to stop it from stacking after BC. But this wasn't in BC, so here, 5 shamans literally means you can have 5 bloodlusts.
The thing people always miss about Enhancement in TBC is that you are actually a top dps class at this stage, you don't need to wait for Wrath to top the meters. It just didn't always show because of shorter fights in instances and needing to twist. Any extended fight where other dps classes are not being externally fed mana, Enhancement will push towards the top of the meter the longer the fight. Now obviously, if you're somehow stuck twisting because your the second ENH then you won't be competitive but in the Hunter group without the need to twist, you will approach the top of the meter the longer the fight goes.

Great vid, ele shaman will be just fine in arena as long as you play a good comp. Any shaman with a brain will do fine, mages/locks are still able to cast especially if you healer also knows how to play.
T4 set bonus for Enhancement and Elemental are better than you think. They are personally a little underwhelming but in a full raid group the are much more impactful. Think of it as 60 Strength or 100 Spell Power
BC was a good start to upgrade the Shaman talents and toolkit but Wtolk really helped finish fleshing out shaman as an all around better designed class.... in pve but esp pvp related, they got the instant heal with riptide for resto, elem got lava burst crits plus chance to proc instant lvb, and enhance got some extra melee abilities like lava lash and feral spirits plus maelsrotm weapon instnat LB or heals. Shaman also finally get a CC with HEX, which was much needed. Still not great on the defensives tho. But BC was a good upgrade from vanilla and they did get some major improvements..... BC is when I started to main Enhancement Shaman and I still love the class and playstyle.

you can create drenai shamans and belf paladins when the prepatch for TBC is released, which gives you about a month or two to level to 58+ before the expansions is actually released. add to that you can get a cheap pvp weapon since the pvp rank system is being disposed of, which means that as long as you can farm the necessary honor and badges, you can get the pvp weapons which formerly required you to be max rank for an even better start when TBC does release.
I bought nearly every blue quality shaman gear off the AH from 1 to 60 and going to relist during pre-patch when people are leveling. demand for gear will be so high.
Correction: Mana Spring Totem is mp2, not mp5. The Resto T4 2 piece is (functionally) 7.5 mp5, not 3. And you glossed over the fact that their party benefits from it too, which isn't insignificant. Though it's disappointing that it's numerically almost identical to one of the level 60 set bonuses (T3 4p), it's not useless.
As someone that mained Shaman (rerolled in BC), yes they are really gud. All specs are viable and any raid will want 4-5 of them. Not to mention Bloodlust/Heroism with no debuff.Definitely not broken. As Ele you can get 12% hit chance (3% extra in early Resto tree) and Ench get 9%. So gearing is not hard compared to other classes.
they are more capable than you think with the right investment. even now. i got a buddy who plays enhancement shaman tank in classic, and while he can't exactly main tank, offtanking in AQ40 and BWL is something he is very much capable of. dunno if he would be able to do it in nax, leadership of old guild never wanted to let him try.
Thanks for pointing out the utter nonsense that was adding draenei instead of dwarves as shamans! On my Alliance realm, the first thing I did after making a worgen, was precisely making a dwarf shaman back in Cata.
Am i the only one that misses the old shaman totem identity? Like right now shamans have 1 totem (only on enh) that actually buffs other, im not taking into account the skyfury as i mean in the base spellbook). Its so sad to watch my long time main (since cata im playing only shaman tbh) lose his utility over time. I miss the totems so much and would be gratefull for them to return.
I'm not a shaman player, just a filthy retail player, I know, hold your booing...however, shamans still have a LOT of really good totems in retail. Its just that the totems have moved from the core rotation to being (mostly reactionary) cooldowns/buffs. Mana Tide totem gives insane mana regen to your raid group, Earthen Wall totem is great against tank busters, Spirit Link Totem is undoubtedly one of the best healing CDs in the current raid tier, Windfury Totem is easily the best raid buff you can give a warrior or feral druid, Healing Stream is a decent off heal at only the cost of one GCD, and Windrush Totem literally negates the Artificer Xy'Mox succ mechanic. Shaman still brings a lot of utility to raids in forms of their totems in retail, they're just not the front line of the spec anymore. You now weave totems in as needed, when needed to bring specific buffs to the team rather than just as dps/healing buffs to yourself.
So we're obviously going for no changes this time around, or at least changes up until the latest patch of that expansion. However, I think it would be wise for Blizzard, and better for players hardcore or otherwise, to look at adding exhaustion/sated debuff and making heroism/bloodlust raid-wide. It's what a lot of people will be used to as well as helping the min/max hardcore players have more manageable numbers. Not to mention I think a bit easier to deal with as far as balancing goes from blizzards perspective.
