I've had mine for 2 weeks now and couldn't be happier. I still prefer wired buds over Bluetooth because the sound quality is still leagues better so the jack was a must, as was expandable storage so I could keep my music collection locally. Coming from a LG V30+, which has a legendary DAC, I was worried about a loss in sound quality but the N20 did not disappoint at all. Battery life is sensational, performance is solid, display is fantastic. I think it's amazing they were able to deliver this product at this price point to be honest. Android 11 doesn't bother me at all, security patches are more important. I rarely take pictures or shoot video so the camera was of no importance to me but it does seem pretty decent for the segment it's in. In terms of bang for the buck, I think this is probably the best phone I've had.

Am thinking of buying the same phone, the only thing that worries me is oxygenOS, since they say it is extremely buggy, I hope they will release custom roms for this phone

you’re being lied to if you really think wired buds are that much better than bluetooth nowadays lol…unless you’re plugging in some quality over ear headphones the quality difference is so negligible most ear buds won’t even produce a noticeable difference

    • @nadtz
      @nadtz ปีที่แล้ว

@@zheretxc This is and isn't true. Apples to oranges wireless can be as good, apples to apples you are going to spend a ton more on wireless and have to deal with charging them. I have a friend who shuffles phones and headphones on what seems like a weekly basis and he has been trying to convince me for a while that wireless is at least as good. Whenever we compare his new hotness to my $40 blon bl-03's (that I have had for 3+ years now) while I will admit the better buds can equal and even be better all the good ones I've listened to have easily cost 3x if not more than what I have. That said he did have a ~$70 pair that I forget the name of at one point that a third party thought were pretty good considering they didn't cost $200+. At some point if all phones stop coming with headphone jacks maybe I'll care but for now cost to performance it's not really comparable.

Got mine from T-Mobile 14 days ago. Came from a Samsung A13 5G. Gotta say, I prefer the N20 over my last phone any day. Performance is amazing. I don't really care too much about the camera, since I don't use it often-- but have been wildly impressed with the camera when I've used it, and I've actually started taking pictures more. Storage is great, and 33w fast charging has been a real plus too

I got mine 7 days ago. It is awesome. The previous daily driver was iPhone 7 Plus. I am very impressed by this OnePlus N20. It is definitely worth it. I will definitely try out Samsung and Motorola in 2 years from now and upgrade regularly, instead of keeping a $1000 phone for many years. I feel it's better to go sub-$300 and just change phones every 2 years.

Been a OnePlus admirer from a distance for years now. Ordered the N20 5G last night and honestly excited to get it in the mail soon. My daily driver is an iPhone but I needed a second phone for school and work so got one of these for "free" in a t-mobile promo. It will be interesting to see how my first dip into OP will be. Thanks for the hands on review! Helped ease any buyers remorse I might have had. Don't need the latest or greatest for a secondary device and the price of the N20 5G made it a no-brainer.

Got mine unlocked and I was pretty impressed by the performance and screen. Doesn't really feel like a non flagship device. Glad they chose to sell it unlocked. It also helps that they added a micro card slot and headphone jack cause I still like to use wired headphones.

I was debating between the OnePlus Nord N20, Samsung A53 and Google Pixel 6a based on price range and reviews. Although the A53 and Pixel have better specs, better cameras and more years of OS support/upgrades, I didn't go with them for the following reasons: 1. When I demoed them, the A53 was sluggish and the Pixel got too hot. 2. Both A53 and Pixel had a default yellow background color which bothered me. They only turned white at maximum brightness which was painful to look at. Images on both phones looked dull unless I used maximum brightness which hurt my eyes. I knew I wouldn't happy with the A53 and Pixel because of the issues above, so I took a chance on the OnePlus and am so glad I did. It's super fast, images are vivid, the white background is pure white at all brightness levels and comfortable to look at, it stays cool, a battery charge lasts a long time, it has a earphone port, it's bluetooth works perfectly with my car, the signal is strong and I don't have texting issues (since I use Google message). Best of all, I paid only $260 (unlocked from Best Buy). I know the camera is not as good, but memories are more important to me than boasting about 10,000,000 MP resolution (which most people don't care about anyway). I also know that the OS will only reach Android 12, but my previous phone was only at Android 8 and I survived. I'm so happy with this phone and feel I got an incredible value.

I've had mine for about 3 months now and absolutely love it. Headphone jack is a must for me too but I found that it's quirky because it will only work with a set of phones that have a microphone built in. Straight listening earbuds don't work for some reason. Not a big deal for me. Having an SD slot is another must for me and as mentioned in the video this device has it. The camera is very nice BUT, any zooming in on a subject the picture gets fuzzy and losses it's sharpness. But I do love the device and for the price on Amazon, unlocked was amazing. I'm contemplating buying a spare just to have in case something happens to this one as I can commit to this one for years of service. Great video too. Love your style of presentation.

This phone was the first that I used with the AUX jack in the car. The previous phone only connected with Bluetooth. It feels so good. I feel like Baby Driver. I'll keep the headphone jack as long as possible. It may go extinct in the next 5 years, but I'll enjoy it until that happens.

When it comes to Android 12, my OP9Pro begs to differ. My 9pro has too many bugs on Android 12. At this point I'd rather stay on 11. The N20 runs great on A11 and would rather not go to A12. I purchased my N20 to be my daily driver from T-Mobile because of the A12 issues on my 9pro. So far it's been pretty good. I was hoping that they would have just upgraded the N10 but kept all the same features of the N10. I'm used to more flagship devices, but overall it's been a pretty good device as my daily.

My 6 year old LeEco Le S3 with a Snapdragon 652 can shoot 4k@30fps so if low-mid range phones can't do 4k@60 now I'd be disappointed. My phone was crazy good priced at $160 Canadian despite having a decent processor so that's why I went with it back then and stuck with it so long.
The android version doesn't matter much to me I'm more than capable enough of updating to a custom ROM and there seems to be people working on porting TWRP to do just that so we'll see updates for years and years like I got for my old phone, and some of those custom roms are pretty cool.
Probably going to pick this up anyway though the battery, screen, and processor, are all really nice and will last me a long time, possibly 8 years (the phone I went with 6 years ago had a terrible battery and a battery inefficient processor and that lasted me 6, and only is showing minor aging signs like random crashes in standby that require a hard reboot)

You mentioned about the silent mode being taken away another thing I noticed coming from the n10 5G to the n20 5g is when you receive a notification I would be able to normally reply from the drop-down box on top of the screen now it only gives you the option to delete or Mark as read which is a con for me but other than that the phone is pretty flawless for the price
If you know of any way to fix this issue it would be appreciated thank you

I have had mine for almost a month also. I have the N200 and no the N20. Im in Houston and it gets better reception/signal than my N200. Thus the 5G UC and for me here that translates to better speeds. 60hz screen doesnt bother me. No Android 12 no big deal. the device is smooth. I have my Galaxy Watch 4 Classic connected to it and the battery last all day with some streaming at lunch time. I have a DSLR so the cameras are not that important. Good selfies and some quick shots are what i need. 256 sd card in it and I have put the N200 on the bench. S20 Ultra and the N20 daily

I had the OnePlus 6 and mostly liked it until they changed the OS on us. Tried upgrading that to a moto edge 2020 this year when the battery on the OnePlus became near unusable. That one came with a screen defect out of the box(big green splotch in the corner), returned that one for a pixel 6a that has crippling connectivity issues and now I'm looking to get this phone before the return window on the pixel runs out. If it wasn't for TH-cam Revanced i might have broke down and bought an iphone by now.

I am considering the N20 because the pricing is reasonable ant the specs in comparison with the Nokia X100 and G4000(I believe) which were impressive but ongst these 3, I will choose the N20 because of it's specs in general offer more than these 2. There's always a give and take when doing comparisons with competitors. I currently have a Samsung A21 but in comparing with the latest of the Samsung models, N20 still stands out. Had it and in under 2 weeks began getting a bit glitchy. One example for sure was that at first gmail would pop open quickly as it typically does, but then began taking a little longer to pop open. Great build, nice screen (nothing tops Samsung panels no matter the phone), solid connections to internet and calls, but still limited unlike Samsung phones that basically are just seamless. Having Android 11 not entirely a big deal, but to not go beyond that in the future is pretty unfortunate. A while back I had an A53 5g and I sent it back. Buyer's remorse and too highly priced when I got it. I noticed it was at 349.99 on Amazon and I had Bestbuy price match it and ordered it again. Samsung is notorious for constant updates, and that is exactly what they did with the A53. It had 3 updates during setup. I have to say it is way better then when it initially launched. The N20 is a nice phone, but no match for the A53. And one more quick note on the N20. The audio, when for example using bluetooth buds, always seemed to need an adjustment to the quality of the sound. It has various sound settings but always seemed to default to one that made what was being listened to sound strange. Not a big deal, but still a mention. And the reviewer is right as it relates to tmobile. Regardless that you can ultimately have it unlocked, I don't care one bit for anything tmobile to be on any phone. Nothing beats unlocked.

The cost has nothing to do with removing headphone jacks. Look at the companies removing them. Notice they are also companies that have invested heavily into their own earbuds. Samsung Galaxy Buds. Apple Airpods. Xiaomi Mebuds or whatever they are called..So on and on. Probably something similar with the choice to have no expandable storage.

*I recently exchanged a Galaxy a32 5g for this phone since I was having problems with it and since the nord has better specs all around. The cameras on it goes toe to toe with my Galaxy s8 plus. Some pics look better on the nord and some look better on the s8(doe the s8 can record 4k for it being as old as it is). The screen on the nord is taller at 6.4 inches but it's narrow and skinny compared to the 6.2 screen on my s8+ that's also wider. I wish it was the same width. Putting them side by side while watching the same video makes it really noticeable but that aside the screen on the Nord LOOKS way better, honestly a great screen with great colors. So far days in I'm impressed with this phone. I wish Gamecube emulation was a bit better but it's way better than my s8+ so for the price I can't really complain. Will see how it holds up a month later*

@@smartphoneconversations actually Jay, I was reading posts on the OnePlus community board referring to perhaps early production builds, but there were quite a few threads trying to sleuth out the root cause as it seemed more prevalent than one might expect.
There were comments in about Apr '22 thru May' 22.
Some issues were indeed internet connection related but a surprising number were not. Haven't run across additional comments noting issues of stuttering NF, HBOMAX, you know video streamers after late May posting dates.
While I didn't read a solution I did test my N20 with all the big streamers over both Tmo 5g and my 1Gb web service and had Zero issues.
Hard to make a reasonable cause & solution guess but I sense it was fixed in later build versions?

100% not upset that this phone is hard to buy. SHAME on OnePlus for cheaping out and giving the US a way inferior phone for the same price as the CE2. The rest of the world gets 65w charging, 90hz screen, and a faster processor for the same price as the N20. The US does not get ANY good Midrange phones. Edit: Everyone is oblivious and happy about the phone when they don't know that $300 for this kind of specs is horrible value. Other Chinese brands are having SD695, a glass back and high refresh for the low $200 mark, and by $300 you can get 60+ W charging, 120hz oled, and higher powered Dimensity or SD chipsets.

I was able to get it for $140 with port in including tax and one month service. It's square and has an iPhone feel. I love it. Battery is great. Performance is almost better than my a53 which retails for $400. As J indicated it has sd and headphone jack. Don't mind the 60hz refresh rate because the display is AMOLED as a trade-off. The only thing I hate about this phone is the USELESS always on display. It doesn't show notifications only time and battery. Why? Other than that no issues.

I am leaving this message for anyone here, including the uploader, who may know what's happening:
(1st issue) Sometimes, when I receive a text message, the message appears at the top of all my messages. This forces me to scroll all the way to the top just to read the entire message. Also, it's indicating that it was received in December of 1969.
(2nd issue) In my car, I have the option to set the 4 most important contacts on the main screen and everytime I start my car, the contacts are erased and I end up having to re-store those contacts over and over again. Never had a problem with other phones except this one.
Can someone let me know what could be occurring and if it's happened to you as well?? Thanks.
