Jak 2 has one of the most underrated time travel stories. I love the more gritty tone with the dystopian freedom fighter vibes. It's alot of great sci-fi
agreed!!! the best part of my week has been finding this amazing and refreshing new channel!! (what sweetens the deal is that jak 1 is one of my favorite games of all time LOL)

@@ironhide3732 so many content creators seem so upset or mean when playing these games we love and it's great to see someone just enjoy it like we did as kids. So many gigantic hits released in 2001, Jak and Daxter was probably my favorite back then.
This was the very first ever game I’ve ever played before in my life. I’ve beaten it like three times I think in my lifetime but it’s an awesome game. I’m so glad you played it because anytime I think about my childhood and when it comes to video games this is the first one that pops up in my head
Watching this was such a fun journey into introducing me to your youtube channel. I've played this game from day 1 and I'll occasionally go back just to experience the game all over again. Jak is an all time favorite by many and it's easy to see why.
The combo of no loading screens and the dynamic day/night system, while pretty common place today, was insane for a PS2 game. As a kid I’d literally just hang out in the village, beach, and jungle, rolling around and enjoying the world, without a care about the larger story. It was fun just talking to the villagers and hanging out.
Jak & Daxter, Sly Cooper, and Ratchet & Clank are the holy trinity for the PlayStation. I’m currently replaying Sly Cooper and the Thievious Raccoonus on the PS5! 🙏
Just found your TH-cam channel and I'm in love with it! After watching these 11 hours in a row I can tell you are not only a great gamer but an amazing youtuber aswell! I couldn't stop laughing and feeling amazed by your entire walkthrough. Keep it up Kasta! You are just amazing ❤
This is without a doubt one of my favorite video games of all time. The humor might not be…current (Daxter is, arguably, problematic) but the game has heart.
wow, i'm 5 minutes in, and i love the vibe of your channel!! can't wait to watch this edit: omfg this has been such a treat i LOVE your commentary over this game!! i TOTALLY wanna check out your FFX play through!! i'm close to beating that too! so freaking glad you covered one of my favorite games of all time!!
I just found my new favorite TH-camr! You're playing my favorite game that actually taught me how to swim oddly enough lol. I used to watch how Jak moved in the water and it helped me out alot! Also, if no one else commented, the last 5 precursor orbs in the jungle are in the mouth of the plant boss. Just jump on its head, collect, repeat!
I love Jak and Daxter! It's got it's spots but it's not the most difficult game once you figure it out, you should play Jak 2! The story is much more detailed and fleshed out! 10/10
This channel is such a breath of fresh air. I love the reverence and respect you gave this game: getting the physical copy so you can actually hold the disc in your hand, which may seem like a small thing to some, actually taking the time to read the manual and look over the map, as well as giving the lore, the atmosphere and the art design the attention they properly deserve. I first played this game in middle-school 2002 and I've been searching for a game ever since that fills me with the same wonder. This is so much more than just a platformer, it's an epic adventure through a far away world. I will say that going the entire game while barely using the goggles, the roll-jump, or the upper-cut was equal parts infuriating and impressive lol. Also, too bad you missed that power cell in Boggy Swamp. There are actually 101 Power Cells, but you only need 100 to complete the game. The hidden one in Mountain Pass was supposed to be the secret 101st, but that one just replaced the one you missed in the swamp. Also, there have been a lot of cool secrets about this game that have been unearthed very recently. A developer mode was discovered via a button combination that nobody knew about for twenty years which allows Jak to fly around the map among other things, then another button combination was discovered that unlocks a hard mode fishing mini-game in the jungle. There was even a secret level discovered in the coding of a promotional version of the game that was apparently scrapped very early on, and people have mostly rebuilt it/made it playable. It was located behind where the two miners were digging for gems in Volcanic Crater.
That is soo cool how you learned how to roll and jump at 8:40:13 and still managed, not gonna spoil anything but That move will come in handy in Jak2 can't wait for that one, you're gonna Love it..and hate it
Yes!!! I still have my original copy of this game! I owned this whole trilogy, and it has such a special place in my heart. The memories of this game and watching you play make me so happy!
Kastaclysm, this is my first time watching a video from your channel as it appeared in my recommendation tab, and as you probably already know, TH-cam recommended this video to me because I’m a HUGE FAN of the platformer genre, so to know that this is your second time playing a game from genre made me realize what type of playthrough I’m about to watch, and let me tell you this: I’ve never laughed and enjoyed watching someone’s playthrough of a platformer game as much as I did when watching yours, you showed me and others the reason why this genre of games is so important to have it exist and thrive, it’s not just about learning the skills and how to be good at a platformer, it’s about the experience and everything else in that part. Seeing you giving the people who worked on this game your gratitude and appreciation for their hard work almost made me tear up 🥹
I absolutely loved going on this journey with you! Jak & Daxter was my first PS2 game and it's still one of my favorite game series! I really hope you continue the series, would love to see it! Another of my favorites from that era was Sly Cooper and would love to see you pick up that series as well!
I would advise you play Ratchet & Clank next while J&D is fresh for you because Naughty Dog worked close by Insomniac Games who made R&C, they both shared code and game assets so when you play Ratchet you'll feel similarities to Jak & Daxter! What an awesome playthrough!!
Yes!! Naughty Dog has been my favorite developer since I was a child. This is an awesome video and especially timely after ND's announcement of their new game at The Game Awards.
Found this game in college and even at its most challenging points, it was almost meditative and calming. So many great memories. Glad to see you got the opportunity to play it!
I'm a new sub, but I'm head over heels in love with your videos & the time, effort & love you put into them. I hope to see your channel skyrocket in views & subs soon, but for now I'm happy just indulging myself in all your historic & nostalgia filled Playthroughs, thank you for just being you
What a watch! Congratulations on getting the secret post-credit ending for 100%-ing the game! I'm so glad you enjoyed the game, it has a special place for me as it was the first PS2 game that I ever played. It was on my uncles PS2 in 2001 not long after it release and he died in early 2002, so this game really takes me back to 2001 sitting in his room playing it on a tiny CRT TV. Based on your reaction, I'm looking forward to a Jak II playthrough in the future! (without spoilers, there are missables in future entries straight out of the gate, so just a heads up if you're wanting to try to collect 'em all like you did here). Jak & Daxter was pretty ground-breaking at the time for the fact there were no loading screens (ignoring the speed boat and gondola, which were mostly set pieces) and it's dynamic day/night cycle. You can go all the way from Samos' Hut to the Citadel as the sun rises and sets along your journey without a single loading screen, absolutely unheard of at the time. You can tell it's a game made with a lot of heart and soul.
This game has a built-in daynight cycle.. Time passes naturally from dusk to dawn and back again, but the big downside is that this takes up a lot of memory.
This is my absolute favorite childhood memory. Thank you for bringing it back. If you enjoy it, I can't stress enough how much I recommend playing Jak II as well!
Amazing game, the first game I played on PS2. After watching your playthrough I think I'm gonna go play the Jak Collection, I was going to work on games in my backlog for the remainder of the year, but I guess that's 2025 me problem now lol
I'm new to the channel and I love seeing people play Jak and Daxter for the first time, which is my favorite game of all time. I couldn't help but notice the fireplace behind you. If I didn't know any better, I'd say you filled it with green eco to set the mood!
that's what i noticed too!!!! the orange and green fits the precursor vibe of the game soooo well!! also i've played this game eight times this year ALONE and i honestly did not know you could talk to NPC's THREE TIMES, i thought you only talk to them once when they give you the mission and once you complete their task, this game is so incredible i'm ALWAYS learning so much about it!!
This has just made my evening seeing this come to your channel legit my favourite childhood game of all time!!! Can’t wait to watch you play this❤this series is amazing
Wow i enjoyed this more then i thought i would! Hopefully you do get to play JAK 2 although i will say unless your an expert its gunna be veryyy challenging to complete in one day!😂
Jak and Daxter was the very first platformer I ever played on any system. Witnessing Naughty Dog’s evolution and growth into the studio that they are today is absolutely wild when you have the perspective of that time. I’m so glad you enjoyed your time with this game! I recommend doing Jak 2 and Jak 3 sometime as well! Although be warned, it’s a vastly different experience from this game lol
9:31:06 as someone who played this game a dozen times, I wish the game had more times where you needed a roll jump. I also struggled here because it's not obvious. Cool solution that I've never seen before though!
As someone who loves reading game manuals I recommend you give the controls another look over once you've started a game. In both this and Ico you've been having difficulties just because you don't know all the controls available to you. Once you gain control of your main character be sure to test all the abilities from the manual so you don't spend most of a game thinking that something isn't possible when it is. There are two basic moves in this game that you're oblivious to despite being a few hours in (by the time of this comment) and in Ico it was swinging from a chain. Older games like these would have a lot more explanations in manuals than in tutorials
I absolutely love Jak & Daxter. I have gotten the platinum trophy no less than 2 times. It was one of my first video games and I would play it with my oldest sister. Great memories and nostalgia. I am so happy that you are playing this game.
Never seen your videos before, but fitting that the first one I get recommended would be for my favorite PS2 game! Great video! You learned the game quick as well
Noooo way! OMG this is awesome! Jak and Daxter was my first game which I bought with my birthday money when I was younger :D I played it a thousand times and cannot wait to watch this video!
Didnt expect it but I love that you play it. Coincidently thought about this game recently. A true PS2 classic. The second game is pretty cool aswell. Very different but its a nice evolution.
This was Naughty Dog's follow up to the Crash Bandicoot games that they made for the PS1. One of the major selling points of the game that was brought up in all the marketing was how there are no loading screens in the game. The advertisements for this game always had Daxter hitting on live-action women only for them to be disgusted by him and fawn over Jak. You should also check out the Ratchet & Clank and Sly Cooper games on PS2 as well. For Ratchet & Clank, since the games aren't numbered like Sly Cooper and Jak, it goes Ratchet & Clank followed by Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando and then Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal.
Jak and Daxter is GOATED 🐐 it's absolutely great you're playing it, also this really made my evening a lot better seeing this come to your channel it's legit one of my favorite childhood game of all time!!! I'm excited to watch you play this ❤ this series is awesome 💯🎮🕹️🎉🙌🥳
This popped up in my recommended section and I had to watch. Seeing as I just played this again for the first time in ages. I’d never seen the manual before this video though, it’s cool! Fun fact about this game: the fisherman is voiced by the late great Kevin Conroy (Batman) and Gol is voiced by Dee Snider of Twisted Sister.
Only took me 4 days to finish watching this 😂😂 You did great! If you are looking into more platforming games, Pitfall Harry is a highly underated PS2 game.
I literally love Jak & Daxter I have all the games downloaded on my Ps5 I love this game but I still have to beat Jak X tho it’s very fun to play but also very hard and you should play the other Jak & Daxter Games
Great games. That raspy "POWER CELL” line is forever ingrained into my head 😂 I wish Sony would re-release the PS3 HD versions. The current PS4 releases are running on PS2 emulators with underwhelming results. The first game is probably the best platformer, but I LOVED 2 back in the day. The vehicles in 3 felt so good to use they even released the story-driven racing game Jak X, which is actually decent and also takes place after 3.
Sly Cooper is goated right alongside Jak and Daxter. Sly, Jak, and Rachet are considered some of the top names in PS history, all of them are great
What about spyro the dragon?
@@jeremy19175 Spyro is one of the big guys aswell but I think he was only speaking about PS2 era games
@@jeremy19175spyro was ps1 alongside crash, sly, ratchet and jak are ps2
ratchet was so fun back on ps2
That Sly Cooper add on that manual is a sign you need to play the trilogy.
She’d LOOVEE the sly cooper games. Would be a fun watch for sure.
The greatest franchise Naughty Dog ever put out in my opinion. Sooo many memories!
Jak 2 has one of the most underrated time travel stories. I love the more gritty tone with the dystopian freedom fighter vibes. It's alot of great sci-fi
Jak II is peak (unlike TLOU"2").
Despite intergalactic getting hate I'm excited to check it out. It can't be bad coming from them.
@@The810kidjak 2 is better than anything I will ever do in life
Favorite franchise. Definitely recommend playing jak 2 and three. Haven't tried lost frontier or jak x racing
The VA for Daxter deserves performance awards for each Jak game man. Sucks he never got his flowers. What an amazing VA for an iconic character.
He's also a prominent character in the oft-forgotten movie Disney's Dinosaur.
He also Played Timon in the first Broadway adaptation in the lion king and was in the sopranos.
I literally stopped everything and screamed, you're playing the ICONIC game I loved playing when I was younger. oh my goodness!!!
We NEED more content creators like you that are SO positive and just enjoy the games they're playing. Refreshing and thank you

Holy shit, my childhood. Jak 1 is my favorite platformer ever.
Well, actually, maybe Sly 2 is my favorite. Hard to say.
One of my favorite childhood games. Still boot it up on my old PS2 every once in a blue moon to this day. Glad you enjoyed it. :D
All I ask for is Jak 2, that would complete my life 🔥
Haha, maybe one day 😁

It's amazing that you managed to (almost) 100 % the game without learning how to roll-jump. It would have made a lot of the stuff so much easier.
She didn’t read that manual controls throughly.
This, I'm tearing my hair out because she isn't roll jumping or crouch jumping.

LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I can’t wait for this one!
Hope you play Jak 2 soon! Though I recommend maybe split that into parts and not do all in one lol
Omg, I loved this game, my favorite is daxter the game that was in the PSP, and the fact that you got a physical copy, man I miss those days
Hellll yeahhhh Maggie. Legit playing my childhood game and a game I still play every once in a while 😁
Jak and Daxter is GOATED 🐐 it's absolutely great you're playing it, also this really made my evening a lot better seeing this come to your channel it's legit one of my favorite childhood game of all time!!! I'm excited to watch you play this ❤ this series is awesome 💯🎮🕹️🎉🙌🥳
After the Jak and Dexter trilogy. You should play Sly Cooper
Yes! And then Ratchet & Clank 👍
So so happy to see this, this game is amazing! And Daxter is one of my favourite characters ever
Man i hope you manage to play 2 and 3, as well as the sly cooper trilogy someday
We need jak 2 now lol it's so difficult id say just to go with 3 lol but you can always try
I play the trilogy consistently throughout the year, just beat em and play em over. Ive played them so many times so i just play at random lol
Someone mentioned this one during yesterdays livestream and i noticed the slight change of tone of yours after you read it, it makes sense now!
I miss these games so much!!! Definitely in my top 3 franchises!
Only took me 4 days to finish watching this 😂😂 You did great! If you are looking into more platforming games, Pitfall Harry is a highly underated PS2 game.
I think you'd have a lot of fun playing the Ratchet and Clank games for the PS2 :)
I literally love Jak & Daxter I have all the games downloaded on my Ps5 I love this game but I still have to beat Jak X tho it’s very fun to play but also very hard and you should play the other Jak & Daxter Games
Great games. That raspy "POWER CELL” line is forever ingrained into my head 😂
I wish Sony would re-release the PS3 HD versions. The current PS4 releases are running on PS2 emulators with underwhelming results.
The first game is probably the best platformer, but I LOVED 2 back in the day. The vehicles in 3 felt so good to use they even released the story-driven racing game Jak X, which is actually decent and also takes place after 3.
