Great Job! I am a self taught artist and I also decided to share my own tutorials because I know how important they are to people who are just learning how to fiddle with sketch up. You can do it guys! Thank you for sharing.
you're forever my best and fav teacher! thank you so much for your easy explanation and very helpful video!! thank you for your time and for teaching us for free! Stay blessed
I wasn't looking for this, I was looking for a whole different theme, but actually, you solved me more things with this video than with the one I was looking for! hahaha. Thank's a lot man!
You are my favourite creator, extremely hard working guy and tips are incredible. My regards from India, i ve learned a lot from both your channels. Blender channel is also amazing. Thanks, please keep sharing
Hi Justin, Thanks a lot for your tutorials. I followed as per your instructions. To check the grouping right, I did impose grid from flowify extension. I could see grids. However, after placing the imprint pattern on the plane, neither do I get any error message and the command also doesnt do anything. On clicking somewhere else, it scales up the model. I want cut patterns on a curved wall made using 2 point arc. Pls help!!
My shape is not a retangle, but a amorphous shape that has some rounded corners and the "impose grid" is not working. What can I do? Could someone please help me?
Could this be used to do it backwards? Like you have the wavy roof with holes in it, but you want to have version that has been "ironed flat" to put it into a laser cutter and then bend it for real life model?
Hi thank you for explaining so well, but when I do this with my own shapes and design it seems not to be working and I've checked that I have the ground organized correctly.
Hey! I imported a terrain from google maps with four (4) corners. I want to project a road in the curved surface of the terrain. But, flowify doesn't work. What do I need to do? I think it is because the terrain is not identified as a face. How can I make it a face?
Hello, thanks for making these videos and teaching us how to use tools and plug-ins. I have a problem with my sketchup. When I put a lots of details to my object, sketchup slows down and sometimes it freezes, bot responds. I replaced my graphics card and it still does he same thing. My processor is AMD A6-3650 APU My RAM is 16.0 GB. Free space is 800 GB. V-Card is NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1650- 4 GB. My sketchup is pro 2019. What computer do you use and what hardware do you have, that your sketchup works good and it does not freeze?
Hey my face is not a curved, its actually a roof, that has complicated shape, and has many edges, i try to do it but i cant, do you know another plug in that could work?
why here the cutout is not happening ? I followed all your steps. still it shows the error - connection edge does not connects properly between vertices.
XLNT! Have a great day! In other news, the link to "Joint Push/Pull" doesn't work. But I did a search and found "JointPull+" for 5-bucks. Is this the same?
I found the "Joint Push/Pull". I don't know why it didn't turn up when I did a search for Fredo6's stuff yesterday. Anyhoo, now I got it and it worked and it looks RAD!
Hlo Justin, thank you so much for all your effort in helping us through your tutorials. :-) They are very valuable! I have watched this specific tutorial a few times, and I have had great success in using Flowify in my models. Unfortunately, this time around, I have done everything (grouping etc.) just as you have specified, but for some or other reason, I can not get Flowify to impose a grid on my base face, hence nothing further wants to work as well. It does not give me any error message. It just does nothing... :-/ Could you perhaps please give me some advice in what I could try next? I would appreciate it a lot. Thank you!
Hlo Justin, thank you for your quick reply, I appreciate it a lot. My target shape definitely has four corners. It is not even something complex. I just want to bend a flat geometry into a handle for a door knob, so my target shape is a very basic curve. I honestly do not know what to try next, I've even started afresh, but with the same result. :-/
Hey Justin, big fan and love the tutorials. I, for the life of me can not get flowify to work. I create the geometry, I group the geometry as needed, I double check to see if a grid will be projected (and it does), but when I place raw geometry on the grid, I get an input error-not enough input. I've tried to directly draw a cube on the plane and the same results... nada.... Using a mac with SU pro 2018. Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks!
@@Thesketchupessentials You are, as they say, right! I tried everything I thought, but when I laid the geometry group on the projection plane, I wasn't selecting the geometry with the group of 3... then I tried to insert the geometry into the group of 3. Many thanks for pushing me to look at your videos again.
Hello Justin, Followed your video it was great even though I took around 6 hours to figure it out specially the curve i created was a mess. The arc which is drawn in sketchup is 6 segments and for a 70m wall it was a rough one, but i changed it to 36 segments and it was fine. But the thing is that Im only getting horizontal division not a grid and after flowifying the entire group i get very inacurate patterns in the curved wall. Any suggestion?
Could you please help me . My shortcut keys for my camera and movements don't work anymore even after resetting them . they just randomly stopped working today. my middle mouse click for orbiting and and my pacing nothing works. do you perhaps have a fix? Regard
@@Thesketchupessentials hi Justin thanks for responding, but the problem was solved, all thanks to u, I had drawn the parellel line on the wrong side of the curved shape. Much love

Awesome video that sumarises so many great extensions. Ive just found your videos and its such a wealth of brilliant stuff to improve workflow, I know Im going to be watching through these. One question, I model for 3d printing for wargaming and I need to make some architecture for a battledamaged city. The bit I cant work out how to achieve is to make a load of randomly sized debris (randomly shaped angular blocks of different sizes) and then put them onto an undulating surface (from sandbox tools). Essencially I am trying to make a mound of rubble that will be next to a damaged building. Do you have any videos that would cover this already (I know its quite specific but I am sure this would be useful to other 3d modellers)? Thanks for the great work.
@@Thesketchupessentials Oh, I'm blind. When I first installed Flowify, it was at the bottom of my extensions list. Then Sketchup crashed and I restarted it. I didn't notice that it was now higher up on my extensions list. That's embarrassing. I'm that guy who can see a deer at 300 yards but not the ketchup in the refrigerator a foot from my face.

FIRST! Hope you guys are having a great day!
is flowify can be use in a soap bubble skin face?
If the face is complex and dense, flowify doesn't seem to be working at all, the impose grid part itself isn't functioning.....
Could you show me how to fix the errors disappearing 'start and end' when using plugin SHAPE BENDER. OMG
thanks sir. keep safe always.

My grids are not getting imposed . I triple checked the groups and they are absolutely correct. What could possibly go wrong?
Please don't leave the same comment on multiple videos. Does your target group have 4 corners?
Oh wow I did not know you could space after copying like that!
LOL - neither did I - need to make a vid on this in the next couple weeks! :)
Is there a way to do it the other way around? Take a curved face and convert it to a flat face?
Hi! Is there a version or a different extension for skp 2020?
My shape is not a retangle, but a amorphous

Flowify is designed to work with shapes with 4 corners.

Interesting - you might be able to do something like that, but I'd be afraid of image distortion leading to not liking the final result...

It shouldn't be raw geometry on the grid - it should be grouped geometry

why when i clicked the flowify, the message popped up on my sketchup saying "geometry group must contain raw faces" ?

how did you evenly space the patterns?
