Yes. Julie is just the best and great and her Xmas 🎄🎁 music is the best. She the. God's gift voice. To the world. And kept the same beautiful voice. For years. What a gifted woman yes she is like lucky. To be blessed with her beautiful voice. It's almost like a medication for the soul. God bless her.
What a wonderful performance by the great, multitalented and forever beautiful Julie Andrews! Julie's glorious voice does wonders in this magnificent concert in Japan. She looks gorgeous, and is ever so classy and elegant. The Japanese orchestra is superb and conductor Andre Previn is a talented professional. I wonder if ''Julie Andrews Live in Tokyo'' is available on dvd or bluray.Bravo, Julie!
Julie Andrews' glorious voice is the real sound of music! This concert ought to be on dvd and bluray - it is a treasure, just like Julie herself. Bravo, Julie!!!!!
Juile forever loving You🤟🏼This live concert so amazing, god bless you babe🫶🏼Sound of Music,One of 20 century greatest music movie👀Waiting for your next world tour soon, miss your live on 🌈

She was in her mid 50s (55 or 56) here, honestly, most women post menopause tend to lose the flexibility, dexterity and top notes of their voice, and as a result singing in tune and powerfully becomes harder, i don't know why. Men don't seem to have this problem though. watch "A Christmas Fantasy" with Julie Andrews (49 or 50) from 1987 singing "deck the halls" her voice was perfect in that.

@djhooten I find it astonishing that a classically trained soprano like her would not have heard herself pushing in videos...she hadnt started pushing until like 1992 ish...really weird does not make sense to me! Maybe she did it for effect, because if you hear her sing a bit of coloratura in the same concert, it sounds easy, relaxed and powerful and her! Nonetheless, this is beautiful. Wish she sang more soprano than mezzo and alto though, her voice shines up!
I also think her over singing in chest created the blue prints of her vocal demise and Victor/Victoria on broadway sealed the deal that changed her future forever. Time travel anyone?
Other artists had been talk-singing long before Julie got around to it. Take Rex Harrison in "My Fair Lady", Richard Burton in "Camelot" and Yul Brynner in "The King And I".
Actually just to add, I agree. but as i said before if you hear her coloratura...its as if she was as good as new. Strange that she would pick lower keys when her voice would have handled a much higher key really well. I assume she and Maestro Andre Previn would know why.
U know i dont understand why on earth she always sang so much in chest and it does sound pushed, when she had access to such a glorious head voice. She could have brought her headier sounds down a bit more to her chest. You can still hear her head register here. Maybe the orchestra was too loud? But we would think she is an intelligent singer, why she made the choices she made, only she and god knows.
Apparently she had to sing in chest for this because of the orchestra and the way they played but Julie didn’t always sing in chest If you watch her concert in America and london she doesn’t sing in chest only on certain songs that have to be chest.
I think she sang too much in her "chest voice" in the later years - which is a real shame as it sounds quite pushed and she was such a wonderful soprano.

This production is perfectly perfect...the orchestra is magnificent with beautiful Julie Andrews. Imagine the rehearsal hours it took.
The conductor is none other than the late, great Andre Previn, and the orchestra is most likely the NHK Symphony.
Sublime. Just utterly flawless ❤️
Julie's smile is like sunshine! What a radiant woman she is! Not to mention talented and beautiful!
That final note seals it. She is the greatest singer I have ever heard.
It's too awesome to hear I live like this, when until now I've only been in the movies!!!

@djhooten well at 5:50....her voice shines like no tomorrow! Why oh why didnt she sing more like that! She may have still been singing today!

anyone can give me the lyrics of "do re mi" in Japanese, please. thank you so much :)
Is this taking place at The Imperial Theater?
What orchestra did Previn conduct?
NHK Symphony Orchestra
I also think her over singing in chest created the blue prints of her vocal demise and Victor/Victoria on broadway sealed the deal that changed her future forever. Time travel anyone?
So she was already doing the speak-sing thing since before her surgery.
7 Rings By Ariana Grande Sounds similar to the first verse
Cuz Ariana's team owns the copyright on this song 'my favorite thing' and they'd used a few verse in this song to create a new song is 7 rings

Japan….eh…ok.
boy, she has good diction.
LOL
SHOW OFF, how dare you. lol kidding. ok fine I will relax and enjoy it as you recommend. *sits down to chillax.
I think she sang too much in her "chest voice" in the later years - which is a real shame as it sounds quite pushed and she was such a wonderful soprano.
What a show off you are, writing about "pushing" and "coloratura" and the like. Just relax and enjoy it.
