    It's so nice that my iMac 5K 2020 Big Sur shares "Screen Sharing" with my MacBook Pro 17" 2009 El Capitan by WiFi or Ethernet connection. I can work both MacOS with the old and new apps on iMac 5k 27" BIG desktops even though some apps only work for old computers. It works very well when I setup the connection correctly for both Macs.

    1) The setup he describes costs under 3k up to 3.5k, depending on 8 or 10 core CPU, not 4.5k like he said. The only way to push it to that price is to either increase the internal storage drive (which for 99.9999% of users won’t make more sense than just adding a Thunderbolt or USB 3.0 external drive at a fraction the cost; Also: the heat of that additional storage will not be countered by increased cooling capacity, so be aware with internal storage upgrades you’re ultimately *sacrificing* overall system performance via pushing against the thermal envelope), ...or paying Apple for more RAM instead of just upgrading it yourself, as designed, via the RAM door (and in this case, there’s simply no justifiable reason to pay Apple to do it. None. Even the warranty officially allows user replacement of the RAM).
    2) He was wrong when he said the Nanotech does not lower the quality of the screen. It does it far less than a traditional matte finish, but even Apple’s own documentation confirms IQ still takes a hit. Moreover, there’s significant reason to wonder about the quality as it relates to both upkeep (trapped micro dust), and longevity (the special care requires is not confidence inspiring). Already XDR users have been responding with mixed reviews. It very much looks like an *option*, but not an *upgrade*, and an option to only be taken out of specific need due to unusually high glare in your environment. Otherwise you’re taking that IQ hit for nothing, a bad idea even if it was free. Basically just don’t get this ‘upgrade’ unless you have light sources out of your control and a setup unable to be physically tweaked around them. Is it impressive? Yes. Does it make any sense at all for better than 90% of users even if it was absolutely free (much less, for $500)? Not even close. Even then, if you’re in that minority, you might regret it when it degrades(?), or because it’s apparently so easily damaged. I’ve scratched a few monitors in my life, always mildly, but they weren’t a micro forrest of glass ready to splinter. Can’t imagine not just how easily a more significant scratch can be created, but what that might do to the micron-refracted effect of this glass, and thus the image. If Apple wants us to have more confidence, they need to be transparent, something that’s very unApple. So far, from users and the little official info that is known, it looks bad.

    "It is What It Is" Great Review, i fear that there is so much Anticipation &i Excitement for Apple Silicon that when it finally comes out, there may be a Huge disappointment, especially since no one but Apple has been privy to it; I just have the 2012 Imac that it enough for my minimal work load which is good enough for me, but i can forsee alot of disappointment when these new Macs come out, especially if Apple doesn't nail the design right, but again very good & honest review, keep it coming

    Great overview/review of the new iMac. I have a question that I am trying to figure out - I currently use a 2017 iMac (4.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7) and can get a $1200 trade in at the moment. Do you think it's worth upgrading for the base model of the 3.8GHz 8-core 10th-generation Intel Core i7 processor version? I do a lot of photo/video editing and have it connected to a NAS which can use 10gb ethernet. Any opinions/advice would be appreciated - Thanks!

    • @jay5soul
      @jay5soul 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’m actually doing that. I’m getting the 8 core with the highest option for the graphics card and highest Ethernet port. I’m doing it because I’m playing less with the trade in. If I wait for the silicon, the value of my mid 2017 would be less. So I might as well upgrade at a cheaper price. Probably will do it again down the road

    • @JohnScaneArt
      @JohnScaneArt 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jay5soul Yeah, That's exactly what I was thinking! Might as well get the trade in value now. Can I ask, If my computer is the only machine hooked to the NAS and I am using one of the Thunderbolt ports, is there any advantage to upgrading the ethernet port to the 10gbe? I thought TB was faster?

    • @jay5soul
      @jay5soul 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      John Scane good question. I’m not that much of a tech hardware wiz but I thought with NAS hookup U would need a network which the 10gb Ethernet would definitely help. Maybe it would be even faster since you’re the only computer hooked up to it also

    I love ‘options’ but I’m pissed and stuck...I don’t know what to do...I’m not a ‘heavy user’ I’m casual and domestic as fuxk regarding consumer software products...even so I still have to make a choice from several choices...purchase this iMac for strictly media consumption and upgrade to Silicon (BIG SUR!!) later, purchase an 49 inch ultrawide with lightning ports, or build an custom all AMD gaming PC from scratch; someone please save me from myself 😔 what should I do?

    • @epiksar
      @epiksar 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      zepcrazyfre oh, dude. I would totally build the AMD PC. it depends on what you want the computer for. if you want a PC that is part of the Apple ecosystem and don't want to do intense graphic tasks like gaming, you can buy this mac. if you want the PC for gaming, you'll get more bang for buck building your own AMD PC. if you want a Mac, you should probably wait til next year where the new Macs get the new SoC chip

    iMac 2021 should be:
    - Oled screen with HDR.
    - 21:9 aspect ratio.
    - 240 hz. 1ms.
    - Frameless and no more chin.
    - New design of the Magic Mouse.
    - 32 gb. ram.
    - AMD CPU and GPU.
    - Ready to Xbox Game Pass.
    - Better stand.
    - And more connection's ports.

    • @acockroach354
      @acockroach354 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oled isn’t ideal for a computer, burn in is almost inevitable. Also the cpu is going to be Apple silicon, already confirmed. And I highly doubt it’ll come with Xbox game pass, these aren’t really marketed towards gamers at all.

    I won't be buying anything that is coming out of Apple right now. Intel in Apple is going around Dodo bird and M1 chips are way more powerful than what shitty Intel can make. If you're going to spend that kind of money spend it on next generation chip that gives you far better performance than what incompetent shitty intel can produce. The only thing that made me sad is that I probably have to move away from Hackintosh and install Windows on it. But I think I am going to stick with Catalina on it for the long time to come.
