I think it depends on the country, in Australia its very different Tesla seems to be very quick and don't charge as much as other countries.

You clearly don’t appreciate how widespread this issue is and how frustrating it can be

Ive engineered in big auto for 44 years. As soon as I saw Tesla coming along I figured get the P85 as electric motors are manic. The car waa staggering....bought the car......traveled.........bought the shares,,,,,,,,,,,,retired on the proceeds. I bought the car I face palmed "no dont move the handles guys" 1st I was wrong everywhere I went people were amazed (back in 2015) "mate the door handles moved" yea but its electric....nothing lol, 2nd I was right handles failed . Trust me replace all the door handles with V2.5 developed especially to bring the "classic " Tesla's up to the latest, the best part is no part, part, which uses no moving wires or mircro switches and car software is updated to match. They have mated the latest handles to the "classic" backplate and the things never fail, £1,400 ....well worth it.

Thanks for the tip, I'll hunt out the V2.5 handles.

Good luck getting it resolved, hopefully you'll get a result quicker than I did. Mine are fine now the whole door handle units were switched to new ones.

Have you managed to fix this now? As ive got the same issue with mine?

They are fixed now, but did require a few visits from Tesla mobile techs. I ended up having replacements for driver and passenger front door handles. Each cost about £270 to replace. No issues since. I believe the mechanism inside is different on the newer handle versions, so hopefully won't be an issue now.

The mobile app can book a mobile service tech who will fix this in no time.

Yes, they've been out 4 times without success unfortunately.

I have a 1979, that's right 1979 Volkswagen Jetta and it doesn't have any of such issues.

      Externally supplied, bought in component.
      "Top ten fault".
All vehicles have their own "top ten" (actually, all "devices")
      .
Ask any technician, any industry about their field of expertise, they will confirm this.
      .
(Yes, I *am* a technician in another industry)
      .
It's a door switch, it could be worse.

    Not EVs ... just Tesla

Yes, you're probably right. The perils of having a car that's advanced on the outside, but held together with double-sided sticky tape inside!
