Thanks for the video bro I wasn't sure what to expect when taking this thing apart however now that I've seen this I'm not surprised All the small things I've done to the car have been super easy
Was this due to handles not auto presenting? 3/4 of mine won’t auto present I have to touch the 1 door handle that does work to get them to pop out. Will this fix that issue? Tesla wants $1300 to replace them.
Honestly, the hall sensor based V2.1 handles are much more robust, and they charged me just under $300 to replace the driver door handle back in June 2021. I felt it was well worth the price. $1300 seems ridiculous though.
Well, you saved yourself a nice hunk of cash doing that repair. A wire breaking in that area is a rediculous design flaw. Automation in these mundane tasks is supposed to be a feature and not something doomed for failure. It's one of the reasons I didn't purchase an S model but went with a long range 3 instead and love it. I'm pretty sure the door handles on the new S will be bulletproof, whenever that gets released.
Just did it yesterday. Dude you are insane to try and fix it in there. :D

I appreciate your effort! And great information!
Efficient work. Nicely done 👍🏼✅
Good attempt! Clear video. Working on mine this week. :-)

You are the man. Much appreciated
Just stumbled upon this. Thanks!
Hey
which year for this TESLA ?
thanx
2013
Did it last?
It did, but I ended to replacing the switch itself because of the bad contact in the switch from me overheating it.
@@K2Jennerator where did you buy the switch from? And how much was it? Thank you for the video.
@@dp1853 I got 4 from Digikey for ~$20. Part number ASQ10418. www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/panasonic-electric-works/ASQ10418/255-6482-ND/1739457
@@K2Jennerator But to replace the switch you had to take out the entire door handle assembly, right?
@@UTArch1 yep

The gen 3 handles use hall effect sensors, so they should be pretty reliable.
Why make a door handle so complicated? To make it reliable, always use fewer parts!
It's to reduce drag and, to be fair, they did make it simpler on the Model 3.
Honestly it’s easier to just take the handle off and repair it on a desk. You were 85% of the way there already lol. Still, thanks for the video.
Very good, now get ready to do that 3 more times.
Then get ready to do all 4 of them again when the plastic gear fails ;D
These actually have a metal gear! ;)
@@K2Jennerator Cast metal gears, it break easily. I already replaced 2 of mine by stainless steel.
Wish I had seen this 2 months ago. Lol
I have a model y
Yup, always that damned little connector!
