Great Video!! Please keep in mind that in order for you to see the emph disp dur Rec setting you have to be in the movie mode, It isn't there if your in manual Mode. But once its on you can use it in any mode.

I just have one thing to add. The Lexar 250 MB/s 1667x v60 SD card also works for recording any mode except for Intra. Yes, that means it can record 4K 120p XAVC HS or XAVC S at 10 bit 4:2:2. It's double the storage for less than half the price of the Lexar 2000x. I've purchased it and tested it myself. Just thought you should know 🙃
Does the v60 card work in S&Q 4k120 h.265? Documentation states v90 for for this particular S&Q setting.

Love the red frame to let you know you're recording! All camera's should have some sort of "Tally Light"
My S1H has this feature plus Tally lights (rear/front). It is very good to have them and they will be probably implemented in other cameras as well.
For the last few months my heart has been set on the Canon R5, but now I'm leaning more towards the A7S III. I will come back to copy all these settings as soon as my camera arrives :).

These lexar sd cards are great. 💛 I use v90 in my A7siii but combine it with Lexar 1667X V60 256gb (which costs less than 100$🥳) The v60 supports all formats except ALL-I and HD200fps (yes, I also use PAL). Which is quite a reasonable combination and I don't feel pain when the next minute is passing during corporate work. 😅 Btw great video, like any of yours ☺️ Best from Poland :)

The All-I is easier for your software because the files are less compressed (hence why they are bigger) so the computer has less data to "unpack" when it reads the files.
can i shoot in XAVS-I in S&Q mode with a V90 SD-Card ???

One thing I have added to what you have done is to add a button to do 1.5x Clear Image Zoom on one button. I assigned that to the center button on the rear wheel,

2 questions : which picture profile for video for a beginner? Slog is good for people who do color correction, but for someone who doesn't? Which color profile should I select?
Why did you set C2 for AF/MF whereas there's already a button for that (AF.ON)? Or maybe I misunderstood something?
Hey Peter, I've learned a lot from your videos. I received the Sony a7sIII a few days ago and I'm trying to learn the menu system. I know at one point I was able to change my aspect ratio to 16:9, but now I can no longer find where that setting is in the menu! I've looked through a lot of TH-cam videos and can't find anything related to changing the camera's aspect ratio. Can you help me with this. I'd really appreciate it!!

Peter. Amazing video and you are getting amazing footage with this camera as are others on TH-cam. I have this camera and my shots just don't look like yours (amazing) - wondering what I am doing wrong. I thought I was uploading to TH-cam incorrectly (still possible) but in final cut prior to upload, it still doesn't look as clear as it should. Shooting in S-Log, in either 640 ISO (outdoors sunny) or 12800 ISO(indoors darker), either 24fps, 1/50 shutter speed or 120fps, 1/250 shutter speed. My footage is soft. Trying to figure it out after spending so much on this thing. I feel like I am following your advice but still missing something. Thanks

As you are somewhat of a Sony A7III expert and I am merely a novice, I have some questions for you.
I recently started photographing real estate as my main profession - all going very well - shooting in HDR and doing my job to everyone's satisfaction.
Now I decided to transition into real estate video with my Sony A7III and it is like an entirely new world of trouble..
My goal is to shoot 'buttery smooth', high def, real estate videos for my clientele - it's not going the way i wished for.
I am experiencing immense stuttery/choppy video when moving around in a given house and I have tried to trouble-shoot it on the web, but I am having a hard time fixing the issue.
My setup is the following:
Sony A7III
35mm full-frame, FE4/16-35
Ronin-S Gimbal
I have setup the custom mode 1 to:
Manual Exposure
XAVC S 4K, 25p 100M, using the 180 degree rule for shutter speed = 1/50, F4.0.
As my focus isnt a single object my focus is set to wide and continuous focus.
I have setup the custom mode 2 to:
Manual Exposure
XAVC S HD, 50p 50M, using the 180 degree rule for shutter speed = 1/100, F4.0.
As my focus isnt a single object my focus is set to wide and continuous focus.
I have tried both setups with both steady and more raw movement on the gimbal. Either way I am getting stuttery/choppy/laggy/chunky video.
The videos i am aiming for are "walking tours" in and around the given house. As I am presenting holiday houses for German tourists in Denmark (yes we are neighbours, hei o/).
So my immediate need is to get the video 'butter-smooth' rather than cinematic. Also the videos are one-takes, not several clips with transitions.
Was wondering if my issue is due to too rapid movement or maybe some misconception of the shutter speed or maybe my file-format setup. Was also wondering if using a lens with wider aperture would make a difference - say maybe an F1.4 or F1.8?
Why am I experiencing this issue and what can I do to prevent it? I am frustrated using a supreme camera and not being able to produce just marginally satisfactory raw material.

Peter love this channel. I try to set custom white balance to in manual to custom 1and then I go back to my M1 preset and try to recall the custom 1 white balance and it isn't there - any recommendations? This is driving me nuts
Hey Peter. Thanks for this video. Question for you: Is there any way to change the color of the bright red outline that shows on the screen when recording ("Emph disp dur REC"). It's a great feature, but I have a partial red/green colorblindness, so I find it hard to see this. It's even worse trying to view the screen outdoors? With peaking, Sony gives us many choices of colors--white, yellow, red, and I think blue? I'd love to change this color to make this a more valuable feature for us color challenged people. (I actually got pause and record turned around on a recent shoot and lost some moments because I couldn't see the red outline.) Thanks!
Gotta say, I've been screwed by Lexar cards before. SD cards are arguably the most important part of your camera system, so it pays to not go cheap. Nothing worse than getting back to the editing room and noticing that footage is gone.
Same here, the Lexar cards just fail too much... Been using Sandisk Extreme Pro since about a year and they are much more reliable.
Do you have your white balance as auto for video or do you set it? I’m trying to figure out what to do for my a7iii because if I do AWB you can’t lock it and it can shift randomly sadly.
Could you please make the captions for this and in the future because they aren’t provided CC by TH-cam.. I love your channel since you become a TH-camr first.

How do you get manual exposure on an of the custom dials? It's greyed out for me.
