I’m not rich or well off by any means. Collecting should be a long and fun part of life. If you buy everything that comes out on day 1 you will end up with a collection you don’t like to look at
@@SanAndreasToday Absolutely, if one isn’t ever watching the movies, what’s the point? Why do so many fall into the over collecting trap? Do they truly care more about the packaging than movie watching?
@ I think so….It baffles me, I could never buy something I don’t actually want. I hear countless people say they never seen it but they had to buy it for the packaging.
I notice it happens most with movies in the physical media culture. I’d rather see people gush and talk about what they love versus showing all the new release pickups and such
@@SanAndreasToday Agreed. I like when people actually talk about the movies too. Don’t get me wrong, I like seeing the packaging too but you got to have the movie watching part to it as well. Without watching the movie, what’s the point? I guess just decoration to some? How do you see collecting culture changing in future years?
Also one of the crappiest moves studios do is release a limited edition steelbook and later do a release or the release a movie on DVD and Blu Ray and then 6 months down the track release the 4K
@@JohnDoe-bz4yl Does that make you double dip at all?
Careful bro don't start a fistfight!🤔 No people aren't necessarily in debt over physical media alone. Americans are in credit card debt because they're living beyond their means. Like a week ago in the news they said the % of Americans in credit card debt and it was fairly high. And the total debt is in the millions or billions. I think what's happening when it comes to physical media is they have become hoarders more than collectors. I never buy more than I can afford and only cash no credit card anything. At the most I order through Needledrop record shop buy I pay in cash. I do suffer from FOMO like any collector but if I don't have the money I don't send for it. Like I said this debt is Americans trying to live above their means. Anyway good rant and cool video Mike!👍

Never in debt
@@Victor-i4g4u Me either. That’s awesome! Why do you think so many people are getting into debt these days?
@@megamikethemovieman to be honest, I really don’t know
Well said!
What are your strategies for movie collecting?
You rock!
@@Dark.RoomReviews Thank you so much movie friend!! You’re awesome.
@@megamikethemovieman you are very welcome. I like to pay it forward to people around the movie community 😁
Hey just discovered your channel from movie and sue. She was claiming you’re “stealing her content “ I commented on her channel saying if it wasn’t for coolduder and wetmovie1 there wouldn’t be any physical media hunting content. Everyone takes inspiration from somewhere. Then she deleted my comment lol idk I think she needs a lot of growing up to do. But you just gain a sub from me!
I came here from her channel too. Who knows, maybe he didn’t mention her video because he didn’t want people to go harass her. Overall, I just think Sue is on a downward spiral right now. She clearly has a problem when it comes to buying movies and there’s no way she’s going to get out of debt if she doesn’t realize this. Like, an alcoholic doesn’t say “I’m going to stop buying alcohol and will only drink if I don’t pay for it” when they want to get sober.
Honestly, only thing that was eye opening to me about this video was how much I like this guy’s energy.
@@greggdh1 Thank you for the kind thoughts movie friend, happy to have you apart of this channels friendly film fan community where we just have a good time talking the movies we love and helping collectors anyway we can.

I disagree with the above comments yes U absolute scumbag U only made this video after seeing sues video that she was in debt - try and be more creative and find ur own content to make videos
@@megamikethemovieman yeah man, you got it! I pumped the brakes on my physical media collecting last year because my credit card debt was up and I had a shitty job, but now that I have a full-time job I’ve hopped back on da train.
Got any advice for storage? Right now we only have one bedroom for storage and we got a ton of shit lol
I once ran up a credit card to about 4 grand just so I could buy new releases on release day and show them off on youtube.
But after about 8 months, I realised I was just buying stuff for the sake of it, I had tons still in the cellophane which I just didn't have time to watch.
So I stopped doing it and now I just make a list each month of what I want and order online.
Going to the store is lethal 😂 problem with credit cards is that you buy something at a standard or sale price but by the time you pay the interest, you've paid boutique prices for standard releases 🤔
@@bumpersmovies Good thing you realized the interest you were paying though and made a positive change. What types of movies do you pick up now? Like what tends to be your favorite you budget for?
@megamikethemovieman well I'm lucky enough to have a well paid job so I pick up most of the UK boutique stuff like Arrow and 88 films, it was the standard releases that were causing me a headache.
I'm glad I don't live in the USA or I'd be broke as a joke 🤣🤣 always tons of stuff out every Tuesday.
@@bumpersmovies That boutique is the best stuff so definitely some benefits there. I never pickup standard releases day 1 because why 🤣 They usually get discounted in a few weeks to a few months you know. Do you get your boutique stuff day 1 or do you wait for those boutique sales?
@megamikethemovieman depends really bud, I'll wait for sales with companies like vinegar syndrome and severin but Arrow, Second Sight and 88 stuff sells out so got to grab it when you can 👍
If you can’t afford your collect movies then don’t. Collect rocks or something.
@@Therazorschannel Well the cool thing is that there are tons of cheap ways to collect movies with the second hand market and thrifting that can be a lot of fun too! Why do some not choose that route, but instead try to keep up with premium collecting and get into debt?
@@megamikethemovieman if you’re bad with money on buying movies, you just have to be bad on money on everything. You know what they say. “A fool and his money are easily parted.”
If any one is in debt over physical media then who ever is has no common sense or does not know how to manage there money. And that is sad and pathetic that someone would be in debt bc of physical media spending. And all I am saying is have common sense when spending money on physical media
Agreed. Why do you think some struggle with physical media spending? Is it because of FOMO.
@@megamikethemovieman here is what I think it is & alot of the blame goes to Social media & how people go on social media platforms & make videos of there collection. And people that either that don't buy or have thought about getting into collecting physical media see these videos of people having massive movie collection. And those people that start buying & collecting movies 🎥 either on dvd 📀 or bluray or 4k don't really realize the cost of building a movies 🎥 collection on physical media
Bc it is a Expensive hobby. But if you are like me that have a passion for buying & owning the movies you love to watch then it is worth the cost of doing. But if your only reason in collecting physical media is just to make a ytube video then it is not worth the cost of doing this
@tomboling2309 it's an addiction, like any other addiction people need help, not be called sad and pathetic

@@soshiderek Ya me either. Hoping those get discounts sooner rather than later. Have you already seen those movies in theaters? Or will they be 1st time watches?
First times. Haven't been to theatre since Endgame lol! Any changes?
All VALID points my friend! 👍 HOWEVER, . . . . with all that taken into consideration, you can most Definitely lose out to and Pay Double or in some cases, even TRIPLE THE PRICE of what it was Originally!! 🫣😱 For example, the TERMINATOR Endoskeleton arm/hand Special Edition Collector's Set. I didn't get it at release Price, so now, it's out of Print/Stock! On eBay it goes for Way Too much for me to even get it in my Collection!! 😲😢 Also, at the time I decided not to buy a used VHS (Media edition) of KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER 🚀 SPACE on eBay, and told my self that I'll get it when it goes down in price. 🙂↔️ Well, it Didn't!! 😱 Instead, it now easily goes for over $500+ in used (VF condition) currently, and that, I Can 🚫 NOT afford because it's way out of my budget or price range!!! 😵💫😤😔😮💨😩😢😭😮💨 WTH!!!🤬!!! Good Lord!, REALLY?!?! 😲😔 So yeah, it all Depends on what you Really want for your own personal Collection. 😅 FOMO is definitely "sometimes" Necessary when warranted. 🥴 But, like you said, buy ONLY what you Really want, and that which expresses who you are as a collector, if that makes any sense. Anyhow, keep on collecting what you "Truly" love (not like), but don't brake the 🏧 bank or max out your credit 💳 card, IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD IT!! 😔🙏 Lord 🙄knows I CAN'T. 😭😮💨
