The Saramonic Blink 500 has definitely impressed me with the ease of use and sound quality! Do you currently use a microphone with your gimbal? Which one?
The lavalier has the foam cover and during my tests it was pretty solid. Definitely something to consider for windy environment but if applied properly under a shirt you’ll be fine. Hope this helps!
@@EMTFILMS I chickened out in the end. I ordered another Hero 7 by mistake, got a refund and didn't order it again. I do have an Insta 360 Go on the way. Oh, and I got the Saramonic mic system for the iPhone. Awesome..
Thanks for posting this...I needed to find an easy inexpensive 2 lav setup for a client shooting on their iphone. This really helps to hear all the scenarios you'd be recording with!
Thanks for this great video. Was trying to use wireless lapel mics, with an Osmo three, and an iPhone 11 pro. The cords made this task difficult approaching impossible. The blink 500 is exactly what I'm looking for. What order tonight. Without your great video, I will still be on the fence. Really appreciate your hard work!
I've used the transmitter with my camera. Then I tried to switch to the iPhone receiver but no sound is recorded. I tried to press the pair buttons but it seems not pairing...🤔 What should I do?
08:47 i was looking for this answer. I can use the blink 500 with the osmo because i was going to purchase osmo m5. Thank you brother On a side note do you think I should go for osmo m5 or m4? I heard m4 is better
Thanks for this video and all the others relating to the Osmo Mobile devices. I have found them incredibly helpful as I jumped into the smartphone gimbel world and TH-cam videos. Thanks again.
I have held onto my DJI Osmo Mobile 1st Gec. Yes I have tried so many things to get quality audio into it as even before it required the Lightning adapter, it's been a while, I would not operate well with even a 90D 3.5 TRSS adapter plugged in. The motors fought even the slightest resistance from any cabling if a user let the Strain Relief get stretched out. Having a real Osmo, with a 3.5mm jack TRS I got spoiled. It's on little condenser Mic worked great up to 6'-8' no problem. I bought the Osmo Mobile for a second rig as they had great marketing! Now I can comfortable plug this into Lightning, Bottom it up against the buper and I'll be set (When they ever come back in stock! Thanks for the heads up!
Thank you very much for doing the review of the Saramonic, sounds incredible, I'm looking at getting it for the recording on my channel for reviews anor on location recording. Love the idea of a wireless mic, Cheers
Have you or anyone notice a slight hum in the audio portion and if so was or is there anything you did to help eliminate or correct that. Thanks and happy to have ordered this so far. Cheers!
Thanks for the review, how many hours it needs to recharge ?? other question please, do the quality reduce when the battery of the Saramonic decrease ??
Great video. I just took my Blink 500 B3 system out of the box, charged it, plugged it into my iPhone13pro max, and can't get any audio when I record a video. It is paired and charged. Any ideas on what I can do to make this work?
The LAV mic seems to do a better job at picking up your voice and not getting as much of the surrounding noise. When you had the transmitter (with its built-in mic) sitting on the table it seemed to pick up more background noise than the LAV.
Hi There! Do you recommend using an app to record? or is it ok to just use my iPhone's camera app? I bought the Sarmonic Blink 500, and I am finding the audio is cutting out a bit. I there a recommended battery level for the smartphone? Does it need to be fully charged? I'm using it to record Pilates videos. Grateful for your thoughts!
Would you go with the saramonic blink 500 or sokani tiny UHF? The tiny has a headphone jack to monitor audio and might be better for distance but is the saramonic audio quality far superior? I’m talking about just the lav mic
I imagine you had to re-center the phone in the gimbal once you added the receiver. Shouldn't be too much of a hassle if you're planning to shoot with the receiver on the whole time. Might be a headache if you want to shoot with and without the receiver. Were there any gimbal movements that ended up hitting the protruding receiver? Any movements that you couldn't do because of the receiver?
Have you found any other way to record and monitor audio in real time when recording on iPhone or iPad? I use a 9.7 inch 2016 iPad pro with lightning. Loved the review of the Saramonic Blink 500 B3 (Lightning). Shane, Tipperary, Ireland
Hey, I got the Saramonic Blink500 B3 after watching your video and a few others. While it works well in your tests, it doesn't seem to work any better than the built-in mic on my iphone in an environment with background music, aka the gym I go. I tried both with and without the lav mic. What I've concluded so far is that 1) you'll have to either hold the transmitter/mic to your mouth or head down to get close to it if it's clipped on your shirt to get a (somewhat) loud enough sound input, and 2) it just picks up everything in the air, which makes my voice unclear and non standing out. I'm not sure if that's by design or there's something I'm doing wrong. I figured the purpose of a $200+ mic system cannot just be so that you can record wirelessly with no sound quality improvement. Any advice? Or suggestion for a mic that can handle noisy environments? And thanks again for making these awesome videos!
Need one for all you have talked about but I am am looking to record our jam sessions or just me on piano etc - what do you think ? I have an iPhone 10. - there is to many out there and I am tired of looking ya - so this is helpful but I was considering just getting the unit alone for 139 bucks.
And here I thought the Rode Wireless Go is the only go-to option. When paired with an Osmo 3 let’s say, IMO this would be a much cleaner setup. No cold shoe and no dongle. Wow
Which app would you recommend to use to record video? When I plug the mic, iPhone unsuccessfully tries to use it for audio output and I can't play videos without unplugging the mic. Maybe there is an app that allows to switch audio output from Saramonic to internal speakers. I found Saramonic BTW app does it, but maybe there are better apps in the store.
If I record a video on my iPhone native camera app, 1) how do I get my iPhone to use the audio from these mics and 2) will I simply be able to airdrop the video file onto my computer and it be the video and audio from the mics? Rookie here. Thanks so much for any help. Great video and review.
Got mine for Apple Lightning today. The audio level is so much silent. Much more silent than the Blink 500 B1. This RXDi is the most silent wireless receiver i have ever tested. How was about your RXUC? Did you had to adjust the volume after recording?
I definitely have to increase the levels in post a bit using the B3 (Lighting) but this has been consistent even with other microphones like the Rode Video Mic Me L. It’s weird. The B1 on my EOS R is louder for sure.

@@EMTFILMS Not just a bit. You have to bump the volume a lot in post. Try putting a soundtrack behind the voice when recording with the Blink 500 and iPhone. It makes the sound crack.

I've had the Sony Xperia XZ2 since 2018 and it still works pretty well. I haven't done much blogging on it until the past year. The on board mic was working fine until a year ago, when I noticed faint clicking/rattling sound picked up from the phone's electronics. That's when I decided to try different wireless mic options, like wireless stereo earbuds. However, when recording audio with it, it only recorded in lower quality mono, and the built in microphone on the wireless earbuds weren't very good at wind noise reduction. I have a Sena Bluetooth wireless mic, that does pretty well. Only problem is, I need to download a compatible app that can record wireless audio from an external wireless mic, and most apps that are compatible with the Sony Xperia XZ2 aren't that great. I'm wondering if the Saramonic wireless mic system used with the Sony Xperia XZ2 would still require a compatible app in order to use it? The default video recorder on that phone doesn't have wireless external mic capability.

I am asking this because I want to use the twin mics for recording interviews and it would be great to be able to edit each track individually in FPCX (either 2 separate tracks or two mono channels in a single track)

Thanks very neat review. I have a question, when you connect it to iOS device does it block the speaker thinking it's a headphone device ? Can you still use your speakers among with this mic ? I'm thinking of using it to improve zoom conference quality, but our host doesn't like headphones
Yes, it block the speaker and audio level is too low when recording, as Technickr mentioned above. I have Saramonic 500 B5 with usb C and tried with MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, LG V30 android phone. It is rather useless, in my opinion.
Thanks for the great review! I just received my kit and am having a hard time getting the indicator light on the Blink500 Di to show any signs of life. I'm plugging it directly into my iPhone 11 Pro. Should it literally just be plug and play or am I missing something?

I like that you can get distance from the camera while getting very clear audio. but IDK if I would pay that money when a Rode mic is cheaper and would have just as good audio / maybe better. Just my thought on it, how often do you want to be 30M-50M away from your camera (especially a phone camera) and do dialog. Just my thoughts on it.
Definitely a valid point! The one feature that sold me is the fact that I don’t need additional adapters or chargers for the receiver since it connects directly to the device. The Rode is awesome too and if rocking multiple cameras that one takes the cake for sure! Thanks for sharing your thoughts! 🤘🏼

3x7outdoor needs this mic!
Any idea if is compatible with dji osmo pocket?
Now that’s a great question! I’ll try this out! Thanks for sharing your time with me!
