its the beginnings of an Imperator rome/civilization type gameplay but with a elite galaxy background. I like this concept. A lot.. and cant wait to see it expanded upon. Ive been hoping for something like this to bring me back to it.
I bet mining missions will be huge since colonization will need lots of resources to create more components, I love mining and hopefully I'll have an awesome reason to continue it
that sounds awesome, but i would really like to be able to colonize a system out in the middle of nowhere as a hub for explorers. maybe the further out from the bubble u go, it could be more difficult/time consuming to colonize. still a great step in the right direction
Not quite sure I like the look of the Cobra Mk 5, but ooh, a medium, and they finally fixed the biggest issue with it's design - the asymmetrical cockpit. I'll miss the flying dorito, but it really looking like it was fused with the Viper is... Definitely an interesting take. Hope it sounds absolutely gorgeous when moving, especially under boost.
Whilst I am thrilled for this new content for the many Commanders who will make use of it, I really, REALLY hope they will have another look at expanding on-foot exploration some time in the future, and maybe tone down the payouts for Exobiology whilst they're at it 😉.
A new Cobra feels extremely appropriate to mark a major Elite anniversary. Would be cool if they overhauled and re-released the Mk 4, it was wasted in how it was put out. What would be amazing for the colonization is if they made it so player attacks could be slotted into the system. It would allow player groups to generate pvp content around a system, instead of just jumping people or entering combat zones.
I have been wanting something along the lines of system colonization since I started playing. I am extremely excited to see the Mk 5 because the Mk 3 is the ship that actually gained me a fair bit of my first fortunes back in the LTD rush. It is finally time to expand Colonia (hopefully) because it's really lonely out here. I am grateful to Frontier for trying to breathe new life in to Elite and give me a reason to dust off the old flight stick.
I admit, there was little hope for ship interiors, but that alot of work and can be perfect feature for new expasion next year. Now I try to imagine amount of money for being able to colonise. Apparently its much bigger deal than fleet carriers and thus, cost will be wild. But as well, this will bring sense of achievement.

That was always my biggest criticism of ED. The fact that the devs locked down everything so much despite the absolutely amazing and dedicated community this game has to create content. Expansion of the bubble was a no brainer.

I'm all in. I think doing a time/resource intensive goal for players, like this colonisation, is the way to go. And a new cobra no less, with stealth fighter visuals, nice.
Was quiet dissapointed at first as I heared that the new feature is colonisation. But after thinking about it a bit and getting new infos, I think this is quiet a nice feature, that also ads more to the gameplay loop than simple interiours would for example
its the beginnings of an Imperator rome/civilization type gameplay but with a elite galaxy background. I like this concept. A lot.. and cant wait to see it expanded upon. Ive been hoping for something like this to bring me back to it.
The MK5 looks sick!
I love this! :) Well done on the speed of the video!
The Cobra Mk. V looks gorgeous.
I am truly excited about this!
Colonisation might get me back into the game ngl
Dude seriously, im coming back to elite o7
This beats base building hands down. This should keep the game alive for years to come. well done FDev
Man, this is more than good, this is just awesome!
Oh my days! id love to colonise a star system :) watch it grow over time would be pretty neat tho.
looks nice, but sad that small ships aren't getting any love
I was holding out hope for a large ship, they havent had any love for years either
I want something that makes me regret fully engineering my Corvette.
Loving this game. So damn chilled
Design of ships keeps getting better and better.
System colonization is absolutely going to to change the game in ways we’ve never seen, im very excited
As someone who took a cobra all the way to beagle point, Im getting me a new model as soon as I can!
Im just stunned at this announcement, no other game has done this. Whole player driven starsystems?!?!?!?? I can't think of another space game where you can have player driven, 1st person starsystems. As many as you like! I know we need to find out more but wow.
I was hoping for maybe a starport or some limited bas building. Entire starsystems Burr... Bloody hell on a Thargoid stick! 😯 You can see it now, player systems fighting other player starsystems.
Ever hear of EVE online? 😊
@@SRSR-pc8ti Ever heard of flying a spaceship from the inside? lol Im just messing around because I played Eve for years. If they could make the economy a fourth as meaningful as Eve they could take this game to a whole other level of messy WOW divorces ahhahaha
this is pushing ED to a new Level of gameplay which I was just dreaming about for 5 years now. I´m speechless. What a Christmas gift from Frontier ! Imagine how much work it took to make this come true !
I´m stunned and I can´t wait to get back in the pilot seat. o7
The Cobra Mk5 might actually get me playing this game again, despite my general disdain for Frontier Developments. It looks great, I'll give them that.
Very interesting. I was hoping to be able to build a home base of my own, but this is still very cool
The Cobra Mk V is a beauty.
It's a great year to be an Elite Dangerous Commander
i just realized what fdev is doing, they are adding ships perfectly suited for assisting in colonization, the Mandalay to scout out worthy systems, the transporter to begin moving materials, the python to defend the station in construction, all built upon the backs of the cobra mark 5, the galaxy will be ours commanders o7
cant wait for the new and improved Colonia super highway
Wilkies World be expanding to Wilkies Alliance of Worlds lol. Cracking new additions, i hope for a good variation of ports and bases to be adding to each system. the new Cobra looks wicked too!
Thanks for the update, however I do not have enough information on the Cobra MKV to say weather I will purchase one or not yet. Need to know the size and number of module slots as well as hard points and performance specs before I can properly asses if I want one. It does look good though. :)
That was always my biggest criticism of ED. The fact that the devs locked down everything so much despite the absolutely amazing and dedicated community this game has to create content. Expansion of the bubble was a no brainer.
Wow! I’m happy but it makes me so sad that they couldn’t have developed this a few years ago. This needed to come with fleet carriers from the start.
