I definitely agree with you on that. I have 2 2011 f150s. 1 has 9700 lb towing capacity n the other one has 7700 lb towing capacity. The one with 9700 lb i use for towing my 6800 lb dry weight 33ft camper but don't have any weight distribution hitch but the camper has a 7600 gvwr n when I tow it going slightly over 50 i start feeling sway in my truck n would never take it on freeway where the speed is deathtrap not only for the person driving but everyone around. I use the 9700 lb tc truck for towing my camper to local campgrounds n go 45 mph which i feel safe n another thing is i didnt know how to figure towing capacity out on my trucks till recently i saw on etrailer how figure it out n was sometimes using my 7700lb truck for it n will never do that again horrible mistake was waiting to happened thank God it didnt.

Respectfully, most of your points seem aimed at a driver deficit rather than a half ton frame deficit.

Yes but even a good driver is going to get all worn out trying to take a 10k trailer on a long trip with an F-150. Especially a bumper-pull. And especially through the mountains, or in wet weather. It's just not setting yourself up for success.

Can you clarify why heavy duties control bumper hitch trailers from acting up better than F-150's? I tell the scouts to keep their tourniquets in their breast pockets in case they lose there legs and encourage them to carry 2 knives (2 is 1 and 1 is none).

Just curious on your perspective on my thoughts below.
Currently have a 2002 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD Crew Cab Short Bed with the 8.1 and the Allison. 279k on it, had since new. The truck is fantastic, but getting a bit on the old side now. Daily drove it for years and been towing a 24ft Toy hauler weighing 7100 - 7600lbs. I would guess 50-75k of those miles were towing the trailer. No weight distribution needed, 800lbs on the hitch. Handles perfect for towing, no issues at all.
Considering a Powerboost as a replacement. I borrowed one and towed the trailer, took it to the cat scale, put about 100 miles on it towing. All around it felt damn near the same in all aspects. The two trucks are nearly identical in weight despite the 2002 being a HD, the Powerboost was a Limited and comes in at 6k and the 2002 at 5700lbs. On the cat scale the readings were 3100 front, 3720 rear and 6320 Trailer axle. Got the usual 23-24 mpg on the highway over 1000 miles, and 8.8 Towing. The Silverado Used to get 13 daily, and 10 towing.
Seems to me that the 1500's of today are about equal in chassis set up to the old 2500's. My test came to about the same conclusion. Would be interested in your thoughts.

Ford says that you can tow up to 14k pounds now with an f150. Bumper pull is always been very sketchy it should be limited to 10k if you ask me? Anything above should 5th wheel not goosenecks.

I have 2 2011 f150s 1 has 9700 lb tc n other has 7700 which I used for towing aluminum 4 horse gooseneck trailer n I feel a lot safer than towing a steel bumper pull trailer pretty much same weight. I will never buy bumper pull flatbed trailer more than 3k lb capacity for my trucks. But iam considering buying 8k to 10k lb gooseneck trailer when all this expensive living goes away. Hopefully next year.
