Been watching your videos for a while now and was inspired to start a collection. Started with the AMZWATCH, its specs for price and clean looks, now am looking for a dress watch to add.
Given that people who get a Daytona can double their money when leaving the shop, overall, Rolex seem to have been fairly reasonable. Whilst gold may have risen in price, demand for gold watches has diminished. With secondary prices lower, makes you wonder if discounts on gold Rolex will appear, despite commodity prices.
You beat me to it. Since I hate flippers I’d love to see Rolex raise the Explorer II, Sub, GMT, Daytona (aka all the popular steel models) prices to make flipping unprofitable. And yeah, not even safe to walk the streets in many EU and North American cities with a Rolex on and the gold ones really stick out. And there are no signs the politicians are going to do anything about it.
My favorite 2024 is the Prospex Limited Edition 1965 Recreation European Exclusive in Gradation Island Blue. The dial is stunning and the contrast when on a white strap is to die for. I will get my hands on one from MAMACOO
You also have to look at Swiss franc exchange rate. It has appreciated 6-7% since 2020. So revenue made in UK is worth less today. Inflation and currency adjusted Rolex prices are lower than they should be by a few percentage points.
I tried buying a Rolex Everose gold GMTII today and they wanted full retail. Sign to me that they’re still not getting a lot of inventory. I see them online for around $36,000 so waiting for a reliable seller to hook me up. I feel the longer I wait, the lower they’ll go for the foreseeable future.
Why blame Rolex? Only the idiot that pays these prices is to blame. There is absolutely no monopoly in the watch industry as there are so many choices at every price level. Rolex is only matching their prices to the stupidity of their audience. Don't blame them.
Agreed, they're trying it on, and getting away with it, because all the sheep flock to Rolex when they're are clearly superior watches available usually costing less
@@Stona999 I don’t think people paying Rolex prices are idiots, compared to most other luxury products Rolex is a shrewd choice at retail. I recently bought a Tiffany bracelet on eBay with authenticity retail £11300 it cost me £3550 the seller took a serious hit.
@@jamessmith-on3jf I'm not talking about retail, I'm talking about the secondary market prices, which is the crux of this video. Paying $25-$30k for a slightly used Dayton is dumb. Until that stops, there's zero reason for a Rolex AD to sell you a Datona at $15k retail when they can sell it to their grey market contacts for $20k.
You can negotiate on gold pieces with your AD now. Easily bundle in a steel model. Aside from the brand new dials, they are all selling at list or under.
I bought a 2012 deepsea for £7899 great condition and I love it and can stop wearing it I doubt it will go down much but do I care.... no I bought it to wear not to hide away in a box and hope it goes up in value
beautiful piece! which dial? And they’re actually quite rare to find on wrists because they’re not the most popular line, so congrats for going for something a little different
@@Danny1282 exactly. And great watch. The fact that a Rolex doesn’t drop 25% - like a car you drive 1 blk off the lot - is nice. But I’m wearing mine and will give them to friends or relatives when my time is up.
I think it is wrong to use inflation as a reason for Rolex price increase. Inflation is average yearly increase of retail prices, like sugar, oil, bread milk. Rolex is a luxury, hence doesn't have anything to do with inflation. Reason for Rolex yearly price hike is just greed. It also helps to push prices for the old watches high, since new models are every year more and more expensive.

Are the US prices you listed plus tax, since they generally add tax onto the price of goods, whereas the UK prices include VAT? On the subject of taxes, I found an AD abroad with over 110 pieces in stock and ready to buy, including various platinum Day-Date pieces and full yellow gold pieces. The VAT saving on the full gold pieces was around £5000.
The yellow/rose gold pieces, or with fluted bezels maybe. But trust me, no one else other than watch lovers recognise rolexes. So no they aren’t flashy. Unless you go around announcing what you’re wearing
@@NogoalRob you took ‘flashy’ too literally. Even non watch people know Rolexes are expensive. That’s the ‘flash’ - someone is able to afford a very expensive watch. Thieves know how much they’re worth; so do golddiggers.

IMHO you should also compare prices from the 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 years points. Make it more fun to chart inflation 😉

How much do you think you can negotiate on a 126618LB these days? 5 - 10 %?
The repeated hiking of prices, is caused to almost eliminate the grey market. I said this would happen years ago.

Aren't MSRP prices in the US much lower, because they don't factor in sales tax?
