Thank Gareth, another good DIY for the F15. The video library is hitting some good maintenance areas. The only bad on this is the cost of that liquid gold fluid. WOW, it just went up from $80 to $104/.5l...that's $208/L! A little pricy for a GL5 gear oil 70W80.
I have an F15 X5 35d with the QMVH differential. I'm having a hard time finding reliable information on how (and how often) to service these, can you please do a write-up? These videos are excellent, thank you so much for this series!
thanks for all the videos so I am more confident to keep my 2014 X5. unfortunately for Gl350. I don't't have enough resources, already trade-in with a Lexus.
Good afternoon, my name is Francisco, I'm a big fan of yours for the work you do with cleaning and job development, it's great. But there is a problem that I am Spanish and I don't understand anything, and my question is, can the videos be subtitled? If you couldn't see you in the same way, thank you and best regards.
Very clear and nice video but can you pls tell does it has the same fill plug as x6M 2014 cause I am trying to do it but got scare cause dealership told me it has different plug thanks pls oh bmw x6M 2014 e71
I like your video I need your advice pls I have bmw x6M e71 2014 I want to change rear diff but I don’t know how many bolt it has I wonder it is the same as x5 pls thanks
Actually BMW make more profile margin on those parts. pad sensor, Bendix $20, Bosch $50 and BMW $110. control arm, I bought a branded after market from European, $200. BMW dealer, $800.
Thank you for these videos. Question: on FCP website when you order rear diff service kit, there is diff oil and diff fluid ? You are using only fluid?
@@fcpeuro Thanks for quick reply. I think i was not clear enough. In the rear diff service kit, you have 2 different fluids and mentioning 3 different chambers. Here in the video it is just simple in and out, one chamber, one fluid. Please see below from the FCP website:
@@fcpeuro Product InformationThis kit is designed for servicing QMV torque-vectoring differentials. You may not know but your BMW's QMV differential uses two different fluids. This service kit includes the required volume of fluids to service the outer torque vectoring chambers as well as the main differential chamber. It is important to fill the individual chambers to the correct fluid levels as outlined by BMW:Center chamber: Uses 75W90, fill capacity is .95 ± .02 liters Left chamber: Uses SAF Carbon Mod, fill capacity is .54 ± .02 liters Right chamber: Uses SAF Carbon Mod, fill capacity is .58 ± .02 liters
whats the point of magnetic fill plug. when the metal is submerged at the bottom of the diff(you know metal is heavy compared to liquid). It doesnt make sense according to physics.

Could you do a video on the dynamic suspension rear diff with the 3 separate compartments?
I’ve been looking for this one for a while. I’m looking fwd for the cooling fluid flushing.

The hook thingy is a life saver

Great DIY Maintenance Gareth!
I love your video brother 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you so much 😀
Thanks for the video, very well planned. Just a question, where can i get the plug?

You are legend
Really appreciate these awesome BMW videos from Gareth. How similar is this process to the 11 X5 XDrive35i E70?
Exactly the same.
As Ryan said, the process is the same!
Excelent video, in the F85 is the same process and same type of oil? Thanks
Thanks for all Your DIY, for my 2015 BMW x4 xdrive 28i, what type of differential fluid will be use for the front and rear. Thank you a lot.
what about the newer 2019 x5/2018 x3 models?
Very clear and nice video but can you pls tell does it has the same fill plug as x6M 2014 cause I am trying to do it but got scare cause dealership told me it has different plug thanks pls oh bmw x6M 2014 e71
How many bottles do you need to refill it?
Gareth thank you for those great video, I have a 2016 X5 xDrive35i so I need the G2 for the front and G3 for the rear correct? thanks again!
Link for the magnetic plug ?
The only hard part about this service is opening the wallet and buying that liquid gold.
Can I use 75W90 Fully Synthetic Hypoid Gear Oil (1 Liter) - Liqui Moly LM22090
?
I like your video I need your advice pls I have bmw x6M e71 2014 I want to change rear diff but I don’t know how many bolt it has I wonder it is the same as x5 pls thanks
Why is the original fluid so expensive? Does it have gold dust in it? I bet Febi is the same fluid but 3x cheaper
Actually BMW make more profile margin on those parts.

You can use RedLine 75W90 and save a ton of money
Can we have engine mounts replacement diy at some point?
Of course! We are adding that to our DIY que now!
Thank you for these videos. Question: on FCP website when you order rear diff service kit, there is diff oil and diff fluid ? You are using only fluid?
Hi Nikola, they are going to be identical, just so happen to be titled differently dependent on the listing.

@@fcpeuro hello where can i buy this Fill plug.I can't find it on your website
Does X5 and x5m 2018 have the same process changing differential fluid change?
The process should remain the same; just be sure to double-check the fluid type it calls for!
my guess is doing transmission next
Gareth already did the F15 transmission filter/fluid video. Check their channel for the video.
What about DHP diffs?
whats the point of magnetic fill plug. when the metal is submerged at the bottom of the diff(you know metal is heavy compared to liquid). It doesnt make sense according to physics.
Fluid is constantly churned inside differentials. In this case, the fill plug is in front of the ring gear. It will catch wear material over time.
@@GarethFoley in that case, i hope its a strong magnet. Something like earth magnets we buy for heavy lifting cranes
