Great lighting. Great training, tell them what you're going to tell them, tell them and then tell them what you told them. I so appreciate that Gareth speaks like an engineer, and not a yahoo.

Thank you. But why do my BMW X5 struts keep going bad every 45K miles? The make a lot of groaning noises now. Your video convinced me that perhaps I won't tackle this one.

Love your video's; I was able to change my front struts and control arms. Thank you! The only issue I have now is that my ride height is so low after changing the struts and control arms. I think the Bilstein sizes compared to the original BMW are different sizes. It would be nice if you could go over how to set the correct ride height. I'm suck trying to figure it out, seeing that there's no videos on it that I have found yet. It's so low if I go over a bump, it looks like it will hit the top of the upper control arm where the bolt is locking it. Please help thanks!

I'm about to attempt to change upgrade my F86 to KW V3s using YOUR videos. Wish me luck.
Also, can you do a video on motor mounts replacement?

As someone who had not watched this video before my struts on a e83, I am your target audience on the rusted pinch bolt. I snapped the head off and had a bad few days! I eventually drilled it out. Wow. Great video! Lesson learned to do a little more research to avoid the hard learning :-)

How did you go about drilling out the broken pinch bolt without damaging the bolt tread within?

Great vid as usual. I used this to install a set of lowering springs. Interestingly enough the top control arm bolt that was supposed to be a pain, for me came out without a hassle. probably helped that i soaked overnight in penetrating lube. Unfortunately for me the bottom strut fork bolt to lower control arm did not, I snapped that big 21mm sucker in two! Now if i cld only find one of your vids for replacing the rear springs and not just the struts only??

21:00 you say correct torque values (double checked with BMW manual plus your other video, as replaced 4 wishbones today on F15), but it displays the wrong values on screen

Question.. could a strout mount make a knocking noise like really loud?? Nobody can find the nocking noise when going on uneven terain! I have replaced almost everything except the strout! Its really loud like cluck cluck cluck when going a bit off road or uneven road

Very nice and clean job, since it's your car I was wondering if you can recommend it as a good reliable german family car, I was shopping for the same car but the diesel version. Thanks and can't wait to see the next job on it

Factory shocks lasted on 60k miles? Mine must be shot at 85k then!

I’m thinking the same thing at 160k with original struts. 🤦‍♂️

Yeah. I just replaced front control arms on my 2013 X5 at 89K and noticed that the shocks were from 20/7/2012. Just placed my order for the whole front end struts.

My x5 has 89,500 miles and the dealership quoted me $3k in repairs. I just saw this video I think I’ll waste a full day but save $3k😂

Hi Tyler, this is a standard MacPherson strut compressor tool; Eastwood and similar companies make them!
