2023 Kawasaki Voyager ECU Re-Flash by Ivan's Performance

  • After Installing new free flowing slip on exhausts along with a K&N Air Filter, my Voyager was popping and backfiring, so I knew it was time send the ECU out for reprogramming.
    After researching a few different options online, I decided on Ivan's Performance and I tell you, it was the best decision I've made to improve the performance of my Voyager. It completely changed everything about my bike and gave me the extra HP and torque I was hoping for. The bike runs cooler, the "throttle dump" has been softened, it is an absolute beast now and I love it!
    It's a personal decision and not one everybody wants to do but I made the choice and I am happy with the results. If you're going to re-flash your ECU, I would highly suggest Ivan's Performance.

    I'm always amazed at reactions by fellow riders as to Ivan's tuning ecu flash. I picked up a 2011 Vaquero with 8900 miles on it. I'm the second owner. Earlier this year the previous owner had a well named tuner installed and when I tested it I found it disappointing and walked away even though i believe the bike fit me well. However, after research and a big shout out to fellow Kawasaki riders Ivan's ECU flash was highly recommended in thier reviews. So, after returning and buying the bike and bringing it home, I put three hundred or so miles on it, then I pulled ecu and off to Ivan it went. What I can say is Ivan answered the phone and answered my questions. This was a painless process with quick turn around and reinstalled ecu same process you went through, and what a difference. Night and Day change throttle response, heat management and performance after 5k miles of riding with Ivan's tune I couldn't be happier. Thanks for sharing video on this. Ride On.

      Thanks Brother, first, these bikes are well beyond awesome and with the Ivan's Performance Tune, it brings them to an even higher level. It's amazing how just some software can make such a change to an already fantastic motorcycle. Glad you got your bike and are happy with it, I know myself, I'll have mine for many years to come. Thanks for the terrific comments and story about your getting your bike.

      Tank & Wayne - I test drove one yesterday from a private seller. Bike was clean with lots of options and we agreed on a fair price. When I drove it it was so sluggish and backfired so much that it totally discouraged me. I realize Ivan’s flash would remedy the backfiring but I was not at all satisfied with the sluggish performance. I called Ivan and he said his power charts are based on wide open throttle and that the main improvements are cooling, power delivery, no more backfiring. My main concern is that if I buy the bike and put Ivan’s flash on it will I be satisfied with the power? I’m thinking there’s a possibility I’d be satisfied based on the vast positive comments I’ve read but I can’t be sure. I was prepared to buy the bike when I test rode it but the power is just making me pause. My reference point is my former 2016 HD Road King with the 103 twin cam, which was 100% stock. It’s the equivalent of the 1700 and my ‘butt’ Dyno says my HD pulled about 30% stronger through the rev range and was smooth as butter. I’m not looking for HD 114 or sport bike performance, I just want something that I don’t have to wind the throttle out or downshift all the time.
      Your feedback is appreciated, thanks guys
      I told the guy I’m going to ponder this more and will get back with him. I know there’s a chance he could sell it but then that would be my answer, which is how I’m going to look at it from a faith based point of view. Any thoughts to help me reconsider? Thanks for any object feedback to my dilemma.

      @@jaybd9329 I don't blame you Jay, when I first got mine, it was a dog. Even at full throttle I was only getting about 64% throttle but after the Ivan tune it is like having a cable, full throttle is full throttle! I also didn't care for the original throttle dump but that's another Ivan fix. It runs cooler now and the power delivery is smooth and strong like a freight train. Original horsepower was 72, now I'm at 86hp and the torque is upwards at around 120. The engine is a 103.94 Cu Inch so I would say that is a 104 plus, with the Kawasaki powerplant, it is virtually bullet proof. To be honest, before the Ivan Tune, I really thought I had made a costly mistake but now I will never part with this bike!
      Go with your instincts and your heart Jay, but for me, I wouldn't ever consider another brand. Hope this helps a little.

    So happy for you. Ivan is amazing. I have a 2017 ZX14R I bought new towards the end of 2017. Until January 2019 I was crushingly disappointed in the bike because it was so ridiculously neutered. Even though I live in northeastern Indiana, and it was January, I had to take the bike out for a ride when my Ivan's flashed ECU came back. Within the first few seconds in my neighborhood, I knew I had a whole new bike. From that day on every throttle problem was fixed to perfection by Ivan. Smooth, predictable POWER everywhere on the tach in every gear. Never a hint of popping on deceleration. I went from almost hating my bike because of the terrible low and mid-range to now loving it.
    Even though we have very different bikes, it's amazing how good Ivan is at bringing out the absolute best in the bikes he tunes. If I had a 2nd bike, I would get an Ivan's flashed Voyager just like yours. That is a great looking bike and now I'm sure you'll have many miles of fun riding thanks to Ivan.

    My ECU will be back on Monday July 10th. This is my second Kawasaki; I had a Vaquero a few years ago that I should have kept. I bought the Vaquero during the winter and immediately had it Ivanized so, I never had the chance to ride it in its stock form. I bought my current bike, 2018 Voyager, and rode it for about a week before I sent off the ECU. The Voyager is a dog in stock form...lol! I know I will appreciate the upgrade! I have a 2009 Nomad 1700. I am considering getting this tune. I’ve noticed with stock ecu tune the transition on/off throttle is pretty bad, decel pops are annoying and my fuel economy sucks (35-38mpg, while my dad’s Geezerglide gets 43-45mpg during the exact same ride).

    What exhaust system did you decide to put on? Just purchased the 2023 Vaquero and am getting ready for upgrades, Ivan's ECI flash will be on the list but have not decided which exhaust system to go with. Also, did you upgrade the air intake system on your bike?

    • @tanktankerson1042
      @tanktankerson1042  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I upgraded the exhaust with slip-ons I found on Amazon, I love them because they give me the exhaust note I wanted, they are not too loud, and they flow freely allowing Ivan's Performance Tune to give me the most out of my bike. I also added a K&N Air Filter in place of the stock one and it allows my bike to breathe better and produce more poser. Here is a video link I did on the install.:
      th-cam.com/video/n5VRITRhUHI/w-d-xo.html
      I have a few Voyager videos now that you may find helpful and as always, I have the links for parts in my descriptions of the video. Shark Road makes some affordable slip ons too. I used Vance & Hines entire exhaust systems in the past but for me, they were just too damn loud and fatiguing on the highway.
      Thanks for your comments / questions, I appreciate your input and I am glad you enjoyed my video.

      @tanktankerson1042  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For me at my dealership, they "work around" the warranty issues so my warranty it good. You may want to check with your service center to see if they will work with you since pretty much everyone does the Ivan's Performance reflash.

  • @AyaWetts
    @AyaWetts ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have a 2023 Voyager, and I've been hesitant to get an Ivan flash... paranoid about things getting lost in the mail, and the only places near me that do warranty just giving a "no comment" if they can still work on it under warranty... They kind of implied they'd ignore the ICU if they could, but its not very reassuring. The only issue I have with the bike really is that it runs hot, and the throttle on and off is very jerky. Those are the only things I care to fix.

    • @tanktankerson1042
      @tanktankerson1042  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My particular dealership isn't worried about the ECU flash and I even have an extended 6 year warranty. Other than reprogramming the fuel delivery and having it run cooler, I personally, couldn't be more happy. On Kawasaki, it usually isn't engine issues that are a program rather the computer that controls all of this.
      Aya, you do what is in your heart and what you feel comfortable with. I can only say that after riding my bike post Ivan's Tune, it released a beast that I never could have imagined existed.
      My 72 hp jumped to 86 and the torque is up to 12- ft lbs now which puts it right up there with larger displacement baggers but being a Kawasaki, I never have to dread being stranded on the side of the road.
      Thanks for the comments and I hope, in a small way, this helps. Know this, Ivan will set your ECU back to factory whenever you want, you just have to ship is. He gives you the address and how much to insure the ECU for. I sent mine UPS with Insurance for about 22 dollars.

    I just bought a 2023 kawasaki vulcan vaquero. Dealership added some mods. And freedom exhaust. I have popping on the deceleration. And some other things. Running way hotter then I like. They told me that I needed a tune. I said I shouldn't have to tune a new bike with their added on mods. So, they turned it. Out of shop. And still have popping. Said if I do IVAN tune it void warranty. So, I am stuck basically. Any input? Thanks, for the video.

    @tanktankerson How's gas consumption after flashing? Can it run on 87 gas?

    • @tanktankerson1042
      @tanktankerson1042  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I guess it can, but higher octane means cooler cylinders during combustion. You can look at an octane rating as being the percentage an engine will not knock ir ping. I always run 93 octane to reduce any sort of pinging and to prolong the life of the engine. You should be ok to run 87, but at 40 cents more per gallon after 5 gallons, it's only 2 bucks.
      I get 44 mpg now and it varies up to 46 mpg.
