Installing Rear Pods / Speakers on my Kawasaki VN1700 Voyager
After searching all over the internet for the rear speaker kit from Kawasaki, I was unable to locate them due to Kawasaki discontinuing the product. After much thought, I turned to Engineered Adapters, painted their pods, installed the speakers, and finally have the sound the factory was aiming for.

Mr. Tankerson, build another better Vmax....I have 2 Vmax, both 2005. We all enjoy your show.
Thanks Bud, but I feel the Vmax is cursed for me and I really just want to stay away from them from now on. It sure was a great bike though with a lot of good memories. I'm happy with my Voyager and eventually when my arms and shoulders heal, I'll be back to riding it. Thanks for the comments and a very Happy Holidays to you!
I just bought a jack. Don't you need to strap it down on the jack to prevent i from falling over? It don't feel secure to me.
You're right, you should "always" strap the bike down, I just didn't do it for this video. Also, make sure the weight is centered on the jack.
@@tanktankerson1042 I was looking for a video that shows the best way to strap it down. I found none showing this. Over the foot pegs or over the seat?
@@ijabbs143 I have used the straps in the past and all I can legally recommend is for you to just find the best way you can come up with to get the job done. Location varies by type, size, and strap clearances per bike. I guess that's why there are no videos that I know of that "tell you" how or where to strap the bike down. You can try looking up a manufacturer that makes a similar jack for help on this but due to liabilities they may not respond or be very helpful.
Good job, looks really nice and clean!!/
Thanks Gary, I put a lot of time and effort into it with hopes of being able to help my fellow Voyager riders out there considering adding rear speakers.
Hello: I also have Vmax, can you sell some parts on the 2007 Accident Vmax? Thanks
The bike was "totaled" by the Insurance Company which means they took possession of it and it went to auction. Sorry, I wish I could have helped.
@@tanktankerson1042 Thank you, can you tell me the rear saddle bags and seat? where can I buy it.
@@HaiBui-x5q The seat was from "Corbin", expensive but pretty nice. The bags were from a Company called Fat Max" but they have gone out of business. It was a small Company, the guy actually worked out of his house. Sorry I couldn't have been more help.

Hey this is awesome ❤
Thanks.
I bought a Kawasaki Vulcan Voyager 2017 used. It gets heated a lot in just 1-2 minutes. When I open the radiator and race the accelerator, it throws bubbles with boiling-point water. I am jotting down other facts as well. 1. The throttle is well good while riding 2. engine oil is good even if a person has travelled 1000 km 3. engine oil is not getting mixed with the water questions 1. does it anything to do with the engine? i mean is my engine faulty? one mechanic told me that the engine is faulty as it is creating air bubble. 2. what is the usual /normal temperature in summer time ? 3. does radiator's service, installing new gaskit solves the problems
First, I am NOT a mechanic but it sounds like you could start with a complete drain and flush with the radiator coolant. I would use a fluid called "Engine Ice" since it is pretty much the best coolant out there for motorcycles and is what I will use when I drain and fill my radiator in the future. Another big one, replace your thermostat, if it is stuck in the closed position, it can cause what you are telling me. My Vmax had a similar issue and after a drain and flush plus a new thermostat, everything was back to normal. That's where I would start. I went with an Ivan tune on my Voyager, he programs the radiator cooling fan to come on earlier which helps keep the beast cool. I hope this helps.
I have the same bike but the screw that holds the breakspads scripted out can it be drilled or cut off
Not sure without seeing it but I did have one in the past get stuck so I ended up soaking it with PB Blaster for a couple days, drilling it out, and using a screw extractor. These can be a nightmare so I always used anti-seize after that. I hope you get it worked out.
Very clean internals...
Just installed a Redline Rl-135 bottle jack on my older Craftsman jack that had a worn out bottle jack. It bolted right up with no modifications. Now I have a rebuilt Craftsman jack.......
That's awesome! I'll definitely look into that bottle when my bottle jack quits on me. Nice to know these are easily rebuilt and I personally feel they are a lot better built than the ones you can buy today. I bought mine back in around 2004.
Thatz my next bike
Best motorcycle purchase I ever made!
non bisogna fare lo spurgo?
I ran it up to temp a few times, let it cool, then burped out any trapped air. Shortly after this, I drained and changed out the cooling.
Have you had any issues with the clutch slipping while using the 100% synthetic oil on the Voyager?
have you had any issues with your clutch slipping or not engaging while using the 100% synthetic oil?
Beautiful VTX 1300
That's a cool cap. I never thought about capping anything on my Kawaharley, Great idea. Hope you feel better soon. Take Care and Be Safe .
I did Ivan’s tune and I’m not too happy. I paid good money for a loud exhaust. After Ivan’s tune it’s not what it used to be. How does your exhaust sound compare after the tune?
I put my exhaust on first, I liked the sound but the popping was pretty bad. After the Ivan tune I was able to enjoy the sound without the popping. As far as actual sound goes, it is exactly the same. Of course, I did only use slip-ons this time around but I am happy with it overall..
If you extend the intake a little more away for engine where it can suck in cold air may be it will give more power cause cold air is better and your intake is were most of the air gets hot due to engine heat
True, and that's a great idea! I no longer have the bike or I'd try to figure out how to accomplish that. Thanks for the great comment, if you do extend yours, let me know.
@@tanktankerson1042 Well i am trying many modifications but my bike being a carbureted one and having a cdi limits the possibility of the Idea of working the modification. And mine is a Royal Enfield 350 so one small engine and the airbox is away from the engine 😂 but still i crave for modifications
You suffered some serious injuries, are you sure you are going to be able to handle the Vulcan?I am a big guy 72 yrs old and at times I wish it wasn't so damn heavy.
Well, I know my power lifting days are over now but I have high hopes on a full recovery in the near future. Everyday, things get a little better and I am slowly regaining the use of my arms. It's the reason I haven't posted much lately but aside from the recovering nerve pain, I just won't give up. I'm not ready to throw in the towel.
I have the same bike even the colour is the same. Just did 10400 kms to west coast and back. Had Ivans done in June, temp gauge hardly gets over half. I use Amsoil synthetic and bike runs great.
Great to hear! I use the Kawasaki synthetic oil right now but may look into amsoil in the future. Sounds like you've been having some fun 🙂
Have you added heated grips to your 1700? If so, what brand/model? Your "how-to" videos are excellent!
No, I live down here in Florida and they are not needed.
Great idea, exactly what I was looking for!
Thanks, glad it was something that you could use.
I completed the automatic transmission oil change on my 2007 FJ Cruiser. I fallowed the instructions per the service manual which included draining the oil, removing the transmission oil pan and the filter inside. After completing that job, I cleaned the area, cleaned the oil pan and proceeded to reinstall everything back. I installed and torqued a new transmission filter, installed a new oil pan seal, installed the oil pan and torqued all the bolts per the recommended torque value. I installed the overflow bolt with new crush washer and the drain bolt with a new crush washer as well. Before I started to fill the transmission I decided to torque the drain bolt since I figured I didn’t have to use it again. The service manual calls for the transmission drain bolt to be torqued at 21 ft lbs. That damaged the bolt and in turn damaged my oil pan. I ended up buying a new oil pan, oil pan seal, drain bolt and crush washer. After additional research I came across another person that had gone thru the same problem. I also own a 4Runner and the torque values for the 4Runner were the same as the FJ Cruiser except the transmission drain bolt was torqued at 15 ft lbs and that’s what I used for the drain bolt on my FJ transmission drain bolt. In my opinion there is a typo there and that cost me.
Thanks for the heads up, I'll use the new torque values the next time I replace the fluid and install an aftermarket, oversized, aluminum finned transmission oil pan since I tow with my FJ.
Knowledge is power; great job! 🏍️
Thanks Kevin.
Thank you
You are more than welcome! I just try to help out our fellow FJ drivers.
Thank you for the video but you never mentioned the torque values for the drain bolt, overflow bolt and the fill bolt. FYI, my 2007 FJ Cruiser is not a 4 wheel drive model and the transmission has the fill bolt towards the end of the transmission near the driveshaft. Could you please provide the torque values? Unfortunately there is a lot of confusion regarding this, the torque value changes depending on which video you watch.
I had looked online for torque values and used those. Thank goodness for the internet. Plus, I can't remember if the torque values were in the owners manual under the maintenance section or not. The overflow bolt is an allen wrench type and it is made of extremely soft metal and easy to strip out so since this video. I looked online and have purchased some of the same so I can swap it out the next time I change the fluid.
@@tanktankerson1042 I see that you also have a Haley. I have the original owner"s manual and the only information it has regarding the automatic transmission is the amount of fluid to do a "drain and refill", according to my owner's manual it is 3.2 qts. My owner's manual also has a number to call if anyone wanted a repair manual, I called and they no longer sell them. I was given another number from a company named Helms Inc. they sell 3 service manuals for about $40 a book but from a previous research I did the complete service manual is about 8 books.
@@franciscoespina23 I had a VTX1300 and a Vmax motorcycle but they are long since gone. I had found Repair manuals online for the FJ Cruiser, that's what I was able to use for this. www.purefjcruiser.com/docs/2007%20Toyota%20FJ%20Cruiser%20Repair%20Manual/#12 I was able to find this link for you, you'll have to spend some time digging through it but it should have everything you are looking for.

All the parts are listed in the description
May I ask what fuel code. you got before changing the gas cap
That was so long ago, I don't remember, sorry about that. But when I Googled the code, it was a fuel code and since everything else checked out ok, I knew it was something as simple as the gas cap. Now, that is just what "I" ran into, it doesn't mean it may be the same problem you may have.
Great video and well done. Thank you!
Thank you for the video. Just bought a 2013 Vulcan nomad 1700 and the previous owner is 6’9”! Needless to say your helpful video saved me! Now my 5’11” body can enjoy shifting again.
No worries Dave, glad I was able to help.
I used the VulcanTunes adaptor with the carpuride w702 for my voyager. The vulcan tunes adaptor connects right into the factor plugs in the left glovebox, and gives you a powered usb port and a 3.5mm aux input. Then a usb to 3.5mm bluetooth adaptor and its all set to go! Wes from vulcantunes was amazing to work with when my adaptor had an issue, he replied on a Saturday evening of all things!
Awesome and good to know, thanks. I may go that way in the future.
Can you post the model of the CarPlay you purchased ?
I always put the equipment used in the video description with "links" to make things easier. That way, you can find the items to purchase or even look at the specs. Thanks for the comments! 👍
June 2024 what size is the line for filter? Transmission the same?
I always put the links in the description. There you can pull up where to purchase them and I believe it gives you the information you are looking for. This is one of the best mods I have done since the "filter" inside the drain pan is only a screen for "chunky" stuff. Thanks for the comments.
I used the same for the transmission.

Hi I'm watching your video right now I just wanted to confirm. You mentioned you only use the kickstand yet the manual I got with my 2023 bike says to jack it up. ? You seem to have been successful any guesses as to why one would have to jack up a bike if you only had to use your kickstand? Thanks
Yes, I had my bike on the kickstand while adjusting the pressure in the springs. Not sure why the manual would say to jack it up but I had no problems the way I did it. The ride improved dramatically after the adjustment. Of course, you can adjust your pressure as you see fit. Thanks for the comments.
