Looks like i'm perfectly fine with my 3700x, even at 1080p. Remember the differences will be even smaller if you don't have the latest and greatest gpu.

I have an 1700. And only in higher framerates it cant keep up really bc i have stutters And my low 1% is Not so great but besides of that. Its good. I am upgrading regardless because i like to play high fps games And my CPU bottlenecks my gpu a bit 😅

Using a R7 2700 currently and impulse bought a R7 5800x for £180, I only have a RX 5700 so I don't know if I'll see much difference in normal gaming but hopefully there's a decent boost in emulation performance.

Comes down to how the game is optimised and how the newer architecture handles those required operations. Also different game genres tax the CPU and GPU differently, eg a FPS is often less resource intensive than a modern strategy game.
Im getting my 5700x tomorrow coming from 2700x... i think my 2700x aged well enough.. i moved to a warmer climate state so i guess lower tdp will be ideal for me

I want to go with a RX 5800 XT GPU seeing that's a significant upgrade from my current RX 580 4gb GPU, but I want to be able to game in 1440p on a 27" monitor and I see the Ryzen 7 2700x CPU gets 2.2% bottleneck on 1080p and 0.0% on 1440p and the Ryzen 7 3700x gets 0.0% on 1080p but 5.3% bottleneck on 1440p so, I'm wondering what CPU should I get? I really want to have the option to game in either 1080p or 1440p in case anything ever happens to my monitor I will have a backup 1080p monitor. I know people say 5.3% bottle neck is not a huge deal but at the same time I know a bottleneck is bad for gaming, any info and suggestions on this would help me so much. Thank you so much in Advance.
3800xt is such a small difference between the 5800x on 1080p !! is that possible? Im just saying that because im planning to buy a 3800xt for 150€ to replace my main computer wich is a i7 380 (3rd gen)
Rdr2 is not that fast in 1440p on ultra/maxed out with a 1700, mine is overclocked to 4ghz and it tanks near water to less than 40fps, anywhere away from water was the high 70s
@@ajad6969 yes, even with the 5800x, it drops to the mid 50s, i no longer have the 1700 but i know for a fact after multiple runs that it is 33fps and up with maxed out water when near any of it
so pretty much since im upgrading to a ryzen 7 5700x from a 3800xt looks like i wasted my money on not much of a difference. but oh well a better cpu i suspose.
I also have a 3800xt and thought the 5700x would be the right path. Im probably just going to keep it. Although the 5700x could help with my video editing

May I also note that 4 slots with 16GB are too much for various games. Can you please populate only 2 slots and use that with max. 16GB each in syncron mode CPU-Cache-Ram 1:1:1. I don't think that all flck run syncron with 4000MT/2000Mhz. More realistic is max 3800MT/1900Mhz or even less 3600MT/1800Mhz which should be safe for all. Thanks a lot.

It's not as simple as that. You don't need the latest and greatest GPU to be limited by your CPU in a meaningful way.

I have the 3800x , but i will upgrade to 5700x pretty much for optimizing power consumption and better architecture
5700x draws way more power when fully utlized unless undervolted.

2700X - looks like jumping up to the 5700x would be a 10-15 fps increase in 1440p across the board.
I'm doing this exact jump; on the x470 chipset but with a slightly aged GPU... so we'll see about that.

No, the 1700 is not entirely safe for gaming. My 2700 runs Elden Ring at 48-53 fps during fights. Overclocked to 4ghz locks it at 59-60.

Even if you have a 1700x, there is no really need to upgrade. The 1700x has aged well.
Not so much for gaming, but if its for productivity, yes its a great upgrade.

Just take the 5700x it's almost the same performance of 5800x, but with less power consumption.
