Looks like i'm perfectly fine with my 3700x, even at 1080p. Remember the differences will be even smaller if you don't have the latest and greatest gpu.

    • @mennims

It's not as simple as that. You don't need the latest and greatest GPU to be limited by your CPU in a meaningful way.

Comes down to how the game is optimised and how the newer architecture handles those required operations. Also different game genres tax the CPU and GPU differently, eg a FPS is often less resource intensive than a modern strategy game.

I'm building a budget friendly pc, I already bought everything except the CPU and GPU. I want to go with a RX 5800 XT GPU seeing that's a significant upgrade from my current RX 580 4gb GPU, but I want to be able to game in 1440p on a 27" monitor and I see the Ryzen 7 2700x CPU gets 2.2% bottleneck on 1080p and 0.0% on 1440p and the Ryzen 7 3700x gets 0.0% on 1080p but 5.3% bottleneck on 1440p so, I'm wondering what CPU should I get? I really want to have the option to game in either 1080p or 1440p in case anything ever happens to my monitor I will have a backup 1080p monitor. I know people say 5.3% bottle neck is not a huge deal but at the same time I know a bottleneck is bad for gaming, any info and suggestions on this would help me so much. Thank you so much in Advance.
