Protip: Pump the grease before installing the dust cover, to prevent pressurizing the housing, and to watch & ensure adequate grease is pumped in. (reference to ~5:18 )
While I love Edd China I enjoy Ant just as much, maybe a bit more. I love the way ant tackles the technical aspects! Just wish we could get a subscription to South Africa to get full episodes that are up to date. Come on Mike, make a plan man!
Nice job and great description- I would add it’s worth it to replace the rubber brake hoses with stainless braided ones as the former have failed on me and caused a life-threatening situation!
@@hello7533 @KEVIN ROBSON any guidance on how one would find said stainless braided brake hoses? Working on my father’s old 2000 Roadster, and I am kinda out of my element here.
Ant removes one split pin( cotter pin ) and gives us a “whooof” LOL very tough lemme say. I will say they must have some very good info resources to be able to find parts and rebuild kits or even service info without too much issue. Or atleast they make it seem very easy being filmed and what not! Obviously everyone enjoyed and loved Edd China a lot more than anyone else. But they do continue to produce quality videos . Cheers mates!!!
How do you make an adaption from 5 hub bolts to 4 hub bolts? My guess is that the discs and the calipers are from a early Volvo 850 or a even the 400 series. The 240 Series have never had only 4 bolts for the hub?
8 months later and I have not gotten a proper answer, Ed China was not a WANKER but you all are, all you help is your pockets and care only for the quid.
Ant is gonna end up getting dermatitis if he continues to not wear rubber gloves when using oils, grease and degreaser... Ask Edd for some orange ones, I'm sure he as plenty spare now lol!
wow. I've just watched (fast-forwarded thu) ep15. Wheeler Dealers has lost the plot big time! What a load of rubbish! A paper-thin premise to edit together repeat material as a showcase for Brewer. Ant's a great mechanic, and this show was ground-breaking at one stage, but that's it. I'm outta here.
Stop nagging what things are going to be in pounds. Englishmen must be incredibly bad at understanding how much a dollar is. It's incredibly annoying to always have to hear what it costs in pounds.
Those Volvo brake calipers are made by Girling and fit lots of other cars, I put them on my E-Type Jag
wow what a shame and what a bargain even back then
Looking for retailer here in the USA for my 1600

I have a question, what year and model 240 is that brake kit from and what part numbers . I would really appreciate the info

Have also had a rubber brake hose let go when coming up behind stationery traffic at 40mph. Interesting experience 💩

every time i buy a car, I convert the rubber brake hoses to braided stainless hoses because they are so much safer.
Split pins into the locknuts on the front axles before the bearing dustcaps. Very enjoyable, lovely car.
The fact that this car is rust free is amazing. Rust was a huge issue with these cars.
How?
great job, I have a similar Roadster. Some good tips for me when I get around to doing mine.

Only 5 bolt for the 240. But the disc is not OEM. Never drilled/grooved OEM. It's simply drilled in a 4 bolt pattern instead of the normal 5.
Where can I get this brake upgrade kit
Can the volvo kit be used for a b310?
I thought he looked familiar when I was watching Christina on the Coast.

Where did you get the kit from? I did this same conversion. Also, no dust shield??? What gives.
Interesting, for a change. In the shop, not on your own projects.
I bet that little car do t know whats hit it when you stamp on those brakes
new steering box, idler, A arm "bushings". They're never maintained (all-metal bushings)
Who says that about japanese whisky?
People who have never drunk it.
The end of this episode they drive down the road in white shirts with NO seatbelts on! 😯
it doesnt look like you are fixing it, it looks bit more like you are talking through it from this video....
Hello hello hello, get some glove's on chief....

Yes that is a cool car any
Yes, my brother had a 67' 1600. That car was a blast to drive! Especially for a teenager. I wish both were still here.
Неплохо, неплохо
Somebody know what kind of jaw sickness he suffered ?
Toothache
I'd say the Mazda MX-5 Miata and Honda S2000 are better Japanese versions of British roadsters!
Agreed but much newer, a completely different comparison, perhaps with the 240/260Z?
6:50 taking out grease
What a nice brake job😂😅🥞
Boa tarde carro 1972 Chevy Pu vai amém bom

Everything old is NOO again !
Ed China had no money and a small garage, thanks to Ed Ant gets the benefits
Do you think Edd really worked there in real life? Really?!?
If so, you just deserve to see reality shows for the rest of your life.
