That is raw mango(unripened), it is sour, packed with a hell lot of flavour, and drumstick is the fruit you get from a moringa plant which is actually considered as a superfood and it has a umami kinda taste to it.
Eggplant is called brinjal in Indian English Dal is lentils That Mangoes were kachcha(raw) mango( mangoes are green before orange colour) it's sour in taste and is enjoyed very much with chopped chilli, lil bit of salt and sugar🤤
To those who don't understand Tamil, at the beginning he says he has a big family, then continues to tell that his family comprises of about 150 elderly folk. Basically, he's talking about the old age home in the village that they're feeding in this video and he considers them to be his own family.
I have eaten with both Hands and Utensils (as most of us Indians) and I can with a 100% confidence say that whenever I'm eating food with my bare hands, I can sense more satisfaction like more Endorphins and hormones are getting released which, in comparison to Utensils, feels way more satisfying and fulfilling and gives a warm feeling and makes you feel closer to your food. Westerners and mainly Americans have this stigma around eating with hands and sanitation, because you're eating out a lot. When you're at home and cooking your own food and at the end eating it with your bare hands, I promise you will be the most satisfied you have ever been with a meal.
In India, especially TamilNadu,we must eat with the right hand only.Elder people often say that the left hand should not see the right hand eating. It means that the right hand only be on the table and left hand don't be on the table while eating☺️
Brinjal is Indian English for Eggplant. And Dals are lentils and pulses. Most of us soak the dal before cooking here don't mind google it can be wrong sometimes. As for Mango, it was raw Mango that tastes sour.
Brinjal is egg plant.. lady finger is okra.. drum stick is moringa.. sago is tapioca pearls.. and that was green mango.. dal is split & skinned lentils. Sambar and rice is a very nutritious and balanced meal.
Dal = Lentil beans = Daily staple ingredient = huge vegetarian source of protein in India. Yes, those sliced green stop sign shaped things were Okra pods.
Eating with hands: 1: Wash your hands right before you eat. And wash em well. (Should take care of the OCD) 2: Use your fingers not the plam. 3: Use your fingers to mix it and pick up with , don't mash the food unless it's a big piece of potato or something.

Sago is also used across south, southeast and (usually southern part of) east Asia as a desert or carbohydrate. Some examples (other than from the video) is sago gula melaka, which is sago with palm sugar, eaten in southeast Asia, or as a carbohydrate in Okinawa (although the one from Okinawa is from a cycad instead of a palm, and because the cycad is poisonous, the sago needs to be washed repeatedly to leech out the poison).

The real reason, why Indians eat with hand is not about taste. The traditional way of eating food in India pick the food with hand in a way that it touches center of hand, which is one of the centers of Kundalini (Un-Manifested form of Physical matter) energy. Kundalini / Durga considered as Source of all the Physical matter. That is the reason, we call Kundalini / Durga as Mother. There is a deep spiritual meaning to it as Hindus don't believe in Heaven or Hell!!! We believe in Transiting from the State of Physical matter to Brahma padardh (Brahma = God, Padardh= Matter)
Nobody eats with their hand in such a way that it touches the center of their hands. We mostly eat with our fingers. Also Indians who are not Hindus also eat with their hands.
@@nyrrovro If they don't eat it without touching the center, then it is not the right way to eat it. Go and speak to your elders, they will tell you about that. Not just that, they will tell you about your origins too (whether you were a Hindu or not, even, if you are not now).
@@dataacademy369 I'm a practicing Brahmin. But I cannot eat with the food touching the center of my palm. It is very inconvenient. I eat very well with my fingers, thank you. I have never seen anyone eating from the center of their palms either. Correct or incorrect doesn't come into picture because there's literally zero number of people I have seen who eat like that. And I don't believe I have encountered anyone having health problems because of just eating using their fingers. Also like I said - even non-Hindus in India eat with their fingers, so I am not sure if it's a Hindu specific thing like you claimed. To comment on your other statement - just because some elders say something doesn't automatically mean they are correct. A person can be an expert in a particular field and be relatively young at the same time. What should matter is the knowledge, not the age. For example, I have studied mathematics to a very advanced level to the point that my previous professors are now my colleagues. I even correct them in some situations. Similarly, I have younger colleagues who correct me and I gladly listen to them. A truly knowledgeable person would seek to learn from all places possible and from all people imparting knowledge, without attempting to bind or restrict education by vague parameters such as age.
@@nyrrovro If you are a Brahmin, ask a Priest whether what I said is right or not. They will tell you about that. If no one eats, doesn't mean that is not reason why we eat with hands. I never said that someone will face health problems. Please don't tell that you are a Brahmin because, you are not. You don't have any intention to know the truth because, they way you said that just because of some elders said something doesn't mean, it is right. You can very well ask a Priest in some temple. When it comes to other religions, no other religion exist without being origins of HIndu Dharma in India. Even Jews got habituated to Indian habits and style after coming to India. You are questioning whether it really comes from HIndu Dharma, then you will definitely have questions whether you have born to your parents too. Please do ask your parents whether you have born to them or not.
@@dataacademy369 If I have doubts, I can ask my parents about my birth too. My parents taught me to question everything, and they will not get offended. I'm not arguing with you. I am asking you a question. What about the Muslims in Bangladesh and Pakistan, or people in Africa, Indonesia and Malaysia? They also eat with their hands. What about them? Are they Hindus also? Again - to clarify, I am not saying anything about eating with hands. I am saying it is inconvenient to eat from the center of your palms and I have never seen anyone do that. Eating with fingers is fine and most people do so. Also I am a proud Brahmin and I don't need any certificate from you. I have immense faith in my religion and immense confidence in my faith. I don't need false claims to strengthen my faith, it is strong on its own and it can withstand difficult questions.

When we eat with hands it gives senses the feel of the food. You see food, you smell food, you taste food, and when eat using hands you feel it. It completes the feeling about food.
That is raw mango(unripened), it is sour, packed with a hell lot of flavour, and drumstick is the fruit you get from a moringa plant which is actually considered as a superfood and it has a umami kinda taste to it.
Eggplant is called brinjal in Indian English
Dal is lentils
That Mangoes were kachcha(raw) mango( mangoes are green before orange colour) it's sour in taste and is enjoyed very much with chopped chilli, lil bit of salt and sugar🤤

After this reaction, I'm sure we are way close to the nature.
I really appreciate your approach to the cultural aspects of any country. Keep it up man.
We do soak Dal (Pulses or lentils), almost 99% of times..
So true.
I had just finished my meal with my bare hand 😋
In India, especially TamilNadu,we must eat with the right hand only.Elder people often say that the left hand should not see the right hand eating. It means that the right hand only be on the table and left hand don't be on the table while eating☺️
@@kmjawahar9959 elders did not had tables BTW
@@akashbanari They keep their left hands on their lap while sitting and eating on the floor.

When they couldn't recognize raw mango, I was like "Woww. Wowwww. Just wowww."
Mangoes were unripe
And unripe mangoes are tasty af with some chilli flakes and black salt

Dal is lentils. There are various kinds: moong, musur, chola, chana, toor, biuli, etc.
They are like 'there can't be unripe mangos right mangos are supposed to be yellow i think'
Yes. Unripe mangoes
In India there is a famous line
A good wife can made 56 items only with rice.
Honest suggestion - reserve Village cooking videos to watch with Achara.
Brinjal is Indian English for Eggplant. And Dals are lentils and pulses. Most of us soak the dal before cooking here don't mind google it can be wrong sometimes. As for Mango, it was raw Mango that tastes sour.
Jaby: Even if this is a food reaction video, one of my ex-girlfriend must be a part of it. #marthastewart

Brinjal is egg plant.. lady finger is okra.. drum stick is moringa.. sago is tapioca pearls.. and that was green mango.. dal is split & skinned lentils. Sambar and rice is a very nutritious and balanced meal.
I like Syntell, he is fun to hangout with.
Happy to see tamil village cooking channel video's getting react everywhere 😍 ❤️ love from Tamilnadu
Dal = Lentil beans = Daily staple ingredient = huge vegetarian source of protein in India.
Yes, those sliced green stop sign shaped things were Okra pods.
Eating with hands:
1: Wash your hands right before you eat. And wash em well. (Should take care of the OCD)
2: Use your fingers not the plam.
3: Use your fingers to mix it and pick up with , don't mash the food unless it's a big piece of potato or something.
Eating with the hand is our tradition. But it has some scientific advantage. if you use hand you can feel what's it like. You can feel each and every ingredients. It make you appreciated more.
We need Achara in the background with a bell to make the wrong alert sound
When syntell is talking about the food I can imagine all the subscribers nodding their heads in affirmation
12:52 Jaby ji there are more than 1500 varieties of Mangoes and more than 800 types are grown in India. So yes those are mangoes of some variety that is used as vegetable in cooking and those looked like they were not ripened fully and is used in cooking.
Today watching Jaby being so much into the ingredients, made me realise that Jaby still has a student version of his inside him.
Dahl = lentil
Unripe mango
sago is a rainforest tree from which the interior part is removed and crushed and later processed into little beads and they are used very much in Indian deserts and also by comms in Far East. It adds a lovely flavour.
When daal became butter 😂
If u love vegetarian food then India is a heaven for you guys...welcome to India ...
Just wash your hands before and after eating, why doesn't that come into their mind.
But they're not used to it. I mostly use spoon when I am eating. sometimes when I eat yellow daal with rice it feels sticky & messy which I don't like. but I like it with kadhi, chhole & Rajma - chawal❤️. Also as a north- Indian, the way these people were eating was bit wild for me. By wild I mean they were putting whole fingers & they were eating so fast 😅. In a restaurant I would be horrified if I see people eat like that (In North India) while I know it's common in South. But that would be normal for me, if they eat with hands in langar and Bhandara. So it's all mind games 😂😅😅😂
@@abhishekchandel8896 in North India people also used to eat with Fingers as well but due to colonization ....that tradition faded over time and in some urban areas few people thinks it's gross. As per my observation only Panjab, Haryana , western UP and Delhi NCR region used spoon or fork mostly. Otherwise All indian used their fingers. May be Not All five fingers, in Some area people used only 4 or 3 fingers except thumb. (Like in western part of india : Maharastra, Gujraat and Goa....North Eastern Indian along with WB and Odissa)
As per South india they never forget their cultural ....still all southern states using Banana Leaves , sitting on Floor and enjoying Food using their fingers and it's taste really Good.😋.
@@abhishekchandel8896 It isn't a North South thing so much as it's a fine dining vs home/ regular meal thing. It depends on one's comfort level. Of course in North since so much roti chapati naan is had (compared to other regions), of course people eat that with hand only and would eat dal rice and veggies at home with hand.
@@sidharth97 I have watched some south Indian vlogs. So I am sure South Indians eat with hands mostly even at restaurants and dhabas. Which is not common in North. It's about comfort also. definitely it's a North- South thing as well
@@abhishekchandel8896 I think the old age home people get a pass on etiquette. Doesn't matter south or north there are things that taste good with hands and some that with spoon like fried rice.
Green mangoes are Raw Mangoes used for cooking as well in India either for soup or curry. There are hundreds of varieties of mangoes grown in India.
They call these ingredients by their local names 👍
20:11 then start with roti-sabji(or chicken)-dal, then slowly get on to roti-sabji(or chicken)-dal-rice with spoon and then slowly get on with eating rice with hands. I use spoon for eating rice and dals. Roti, sabji (sabji is vegetables), and other stuff but I use hands but many in my family use hands for rice.
Eating rice with your hand is an art. We eat rice thrice daily here in assam and even half of us makes a mess of it while eating. My father used to tell me, I should try to eat rice without it touching my palm. Coz that's how gentleman eat.

I believe its pretentious to say you are a foodie but dont like cooking. Cooking is half of your culinary experience. Somebody who can cook a meal will appreciate it many times more than somebody who just gets it for money.
Eggplant is called brinjal in India.
Okra is called ladyfinger in India.
Dal is basically lentils.
Well that tastes awesome 🤤
My mouth is watering right now . 😍
All pulses/lentils/gram need water in order to soften up, pre-soaking hastens the cooking process...
Jaby: Must be a Yogurt thingy (the dessert)
Me: Seriously? Yogurt in Vermicelli Pudding? 🤮
Sago is also used across south, southeast and (usually southern part of) east Asia as a desert or carbohydrate. Some examples (other than from the video) is sago gula melaka, which is sago with palm sugar, eaten in southeast Asia, or as a carbohydrate in Okinawa (although the one from Okinawa is from a cycad instead of a palm, and because the cycad is poisonous, the sago needs to be washed repeatedly to leech out the poison).
we want everything sanitized
YOU JABY, YOU
XD
Jaby that is nol doll it's dal /pulse/lentils. Some pulse need to soak for overnight or 8/10/12 hours for getting soft before cooking. And some of pluse/lentils are very soft like moong daal ,arhar/tur daal ets they are very soft so they can be soft if you soak them just few minutes or half and hour ago before cooking .it will melt easily and become a fine paste and after that you can manage the consistency of dal like thick or soupy.
Syntell's queations makes me so happy and Jaby's just keeps me constantly frustrated 🥴
That raw mango..... It's soooo freaking tangy.. U can't eat it directly but in curry it taste awesome😊

Eating with fingers charge the food and helps to digest food better and also it helps brain identify the type/kind of food according to which it can produce enzyms and conditions best for that kind of food

Eating with hands make us fell warmth Because when you feed your loved ones with hands, it really emotionally helps bonded with each other. The food given by mom with her hands is most tastier than eating with my own hands.
