Matt, I did something similar to this but I used pegboard instead. There is NO way on earth that anyone would ever expect it to be hiding a safe. Good build!!!! 😊
Came across your videos by total accident. I had built an arbor for my wedding a few years back. When I put it up for sale on FB Marketplace I had a huge response. So, I built and and sold probably around 20-30 more of them. Then Covid happened and no weddings, so I stopped. Last year I flipped a dresser but it took so long to sell, I quickly lost interest in furniture flipping. Watching your videos has given me new inspiration to give this another go as a side hustle. I especially like the "smalls that sell" videos. Also sounds like we are fellow Kentuckians. I'm a transplant from Cincinnati area while my wife is from Clay County...we compromised by moving to the. Florence area. Ok, now that you know my life story....🤣
Bro. You just gave me a late Christmas gift with the Pale Horse Outdoors channel. I run a woodworking/taxidermy business so what does that tell you? One of my favorite woodworking channels combined with outdoors?! Sign me up all day 🙏🏼
I do a full video just on customizing the foam on the new channel. It's an outdoors channel so I can show more. th-cam.com/channels/FVByOisviL-HiZA04Kf8Mg.html
I think the profile looks nice for a picture frame. You mentioned prototyping - critical step with any hardware - but the one that’s bit me is when repurpose something like the mirror (or baskets). Buy them and prepare them all before I begin to head off hidden variation and availability (maybe buy 2 mirrors to ensure I have one). Thanks for the ideas!
Ive been waiting on this video ever since i started watching your channel. Ive been woodworking all my life thanks to my dad, and i had no idea stainable wood filler is a thing lol thanks for that too
I'm with you, all my life I have loved anything with a hidden compartment (or secret rooms/passageways) I'm really hoping to see you make a headboard with shelves and a hidden compartment. I'm going to make either this or the coat rack for my son and DIL. Have to ask the little lady 😅 jk. It's more which would fit in with their decor. When I get it done I will post pictures. Thanks for the great videos.
This gonna be my next project. I saw a concealment picture frame that used soft close drawer slides and it the frame would slide to left or right to open. I would like to see your take on a design like that. Thanks for the video
you could run electrical behind the wall, for those who hate replacing batteries.. and make it a permanently wired lock. you have inspired me to make a gun concealment/medicine bathroom mirror cabinet
What a great idea I’ve seen the shelves before but not a mirror. I’m definitely going to give this a try and also your new channel Congrats on that 🍾🍾🍻 Thanks for sharing
Awesome video, as always, and great editing. Two Peech's in one shot is pretty danged cool. Also, what is that soundwave above the mirror at the beginning of the video?
Great option, I’ve looked at doing a larger mirror for longer options but I struggle with cutting 45’s to line up correctly on picture frames etc, any good tips been a big frustration for me! Also subscribed to new channel, want to start building more concealment furniture as too many other woodworkers in my area doing other little projects to make it worth while to compete
Im missing a bunch of left-handed gloves. It's your dominant hand that you tend to lose, taking it off to write, answer the phone, or any dexterity needed that the glove doesn't provide. Great build!
@@MatthewPeechWoodworkingI enjoy the same surplus of left handed gloves. But … it’s because I’m right handed and I wear out the finger tips. Can’t toss the left glove since I might someday need to replace a left. Not so far.
I am getting ready to remodel a few rooms in my house, and was thinking, with a few tweaks, the main body of the concealment portion could be sunk between the studs, leaving more room for whatever goodies will be placed inside.
Regarding your glove issue, you better call Ghostbusters! I think the ghost of Michael Jackson is haunting your shop 😂. Keep up the great work brother!
Hi Matthew, Great build and tutorial. hey, I noticed that both of the RFID kits on Amazon are not available presently, Do they often run out? Are there other kits that you could suggest that work just as well? With regards to the ply to protect the mirror and make it a more secure area, Would it have been possible to use a thicker mirror door frame so that it would accommodate two pieces of ply instead of using the small strips as per the video? Thank you
I have the same problem. I am right handed, and wear out the thumb and index finger on all my right hand gloves. That is how I get a pile of good lefty's, and no righties!
Great job Matthew ,, I watch almost all of your videos and love them ,, I just wanted to ask if these shocks are adjustable for the speed that they open
No way to get rfid to work through the glass. The only way I know for it to work is the way I did it. You can get a Bluetooth device to work and I listed it in the description.
@@MatthewPeechWoodworkingWhich link is for the Bluetooth? I see two locks linked in the description but I’m not sure which one is the Bluetooth one. Unless Bluetooth works on both of them?

You need to use a closed cell foam or the foam will retain moisture and lead to rust.

Hey Matt. Is there a router bit you'd suggest for doing the profile cut instead of using the table saw?
Great job Matthew ,, I watch almost all of your videos and love them ,, I just wanted to ask if these shocks are adjustable for the speed that they open
The shock itself isnt. You wold just go down in N value. These were 50N. But you have to have enough force to overcome the resistance of the hinges.
how does the emergency no power work great job
You just plug up any dc adaptor (the round ones) and it will supply power to the lock.
hahaha same here usually i go thrue the right handed ones faster than the left handed ones too :P
Put that concealment mirror near the glove supply for a quick throw down on the pilferer.
Maybe like an old school glove slapping competition
Add a easy grip hole by the magazine and handle of the gun.
Great build! How much can you sell one for?
So many variables that would go into it. Best advice I can give is test the market near you.
The glove bandit is real - I have the same issue!
Can you do a video on how you built your miter saw dust collection shroud
Very nice! I think I'd prefer the slower opening gasket rods. With my luck, it would fly open and hit me in the head 😆
Subbed!
Liked and subbed❤
I am a 30 yr US Marine vet try to make one of these then quite work out. Crazy question how much would you charge me to make one?
I vould see using this by the door to hold car keys. Could you line it to create a Faraday Cage to revent thieves from accessing your car key codes?
Yep! And that's a really good idea.
I have the exact same glove issue.... I only ever find left hand gloves 😂😂😊
I can't figure it out... it's one of my life's mysteries. Dealt with it my whole life. No clue.
I have a question as a beginner. How thick should a board be to make cutting boards out of it.
Do I have to buy the plans to find out the width of the board he used?
Lost me for a second. Once you set 14 degree angle. Do you line the mark on the board with bottom of the blade?
Yes. Basically you want to leave 3/4" of flat on top.
What's a rough cost estimate to build this?
👏👏👏💯💯💯 the redundancy is on point. Now we need a tech nerd to go full Juan Wick, Siri I need guns 😂😂😂
Rumor has it that Matthew Peech can build any modern Tesla EV out of 3 x cedar fence pickets and a few pocket holes.
Bahaha... 😐. That a challenge?
@@MatthewPeechWoodworking I would not doubt you by this point!
What could I use for these cuts if I don't have a table saw
Any ideas on how to get rfid to work through the glass portion of the mirror itself? Or a way to install a remote sensor?

I really need to make this concealment mirror asap, for reasons.
Any reason is a good reason. Thanks!

Denatured alcohol also releases hot glue.
This is good to know. I tried using a heat gun on one of those mirrors, but the glass is pretty thin, so it cracked almost immediately.
Thanks for the tip!
You mentioned an Etsy store, what is the store name or link, please?
You can find them on www.matthewpeech.com or on Etsy at www.etsy.com/shop/PrimitiveMillworks
I have been struck by the right handed glove bandit as well.
Can you get an RFID lock where you can wear a ring instead of using a card?
Can you please make me one of these. What’s the total cost?
I lose left handed gloves I'm assuming since I'm left handed ill take it off more often and falls outta pocket or leave laying it's definitely crazy
My rfid reader only came with the thick lock connector and it won’t close flush.
The glove thing. As far back as I can remember it has been that way for me.
Is a kid proof?
Could buy the mirror, modify the mirror, or buy a picture frame with those swivel pieces on the back, add a mirror to the picture frame, and modify the picture frame. Tons of old prints sold at 2nd hand stores.
Putting the power supply facing up will allow dust to settle in & could cause a contact failure. Put a plug in it or something to help protect it.
Holy crap, This product was designed by James Bond. The James Bond mirror, brilliant.
How do i get a kit? All i see are plans??
Where would I get the key card device
