I went over the Gospel Pass, you mentioned, in Feb 2020. Life was normal and, on the other side, when I saw a sign “Live Music Fridays” I thought I ‘d come back for that.....little did I know! It’s fun trying to spot the parts that were used for the film An American Werewolf in London. If you want to see the outside of the Slaughtered Lamb ..it’s in Crickadarn.
On my 3rd GS now. First one after I went on a test ride with a mate, was so impressed, I bought one. Upgraded 3 years later to a GSA, that was stolen, but there was only one choice when insurance payout arrived! Solo, two up, touring, commuting, Sunday blast, does it all. I quite like the fact that a lot of people don’t like them, but once you ride one, you just get it!
Twin cylinders, shaft drive heated seat and a stern big enough to keep the worst of the wind and rain off without blocking out your view of the road on the lower half of the bike the way full fairings do.
You need to meet up with AndyManCam, the way you push on with handful's of throttle is very much his style too. As for the BMW; I am currently looking at gs 1150's and 1200's, more because they are so popular than because I feel I need to change from my VStrom (mass appeal?). I'll blag a ride on one if I can during the summer (if we get one), and see what I think. As for the constant escalation in engine size and power, I think this is a manufacturer rather than a customer requirement led thing, after all, Yamaha are having no trouble selling T700's worldwide. Price wise, I wouldn't have spent £21k on a bike when I was working, I certainly won't be doing that now I'm retired. Lovely sound though, thanks for the vlog.
I have the R1250R and so it's basically this engine in a lighter, shorter chassis and I love it! When it comes to revving the engine though, the fun is over by 8k rpm but the best fun is to be had between about 3 and 6k... with more torque than a Super Duke R, the thing just flies 😁
It sounds great to me. I'd rather hear that than the majority of four pots. Really enjoying this, it's a great companion to the main channel. I'm very weary about trying a big adventure bike. I'm not tall, my knees aren't great and I'm not as young as I was so I don't fancy the thought of putting a foot into a pothole at a junction and the bike going to 45° ! I'm not a fan of how adventure bikes look and I'm shallow enough for that to be the main factor about bikes I'll enjoy.
I’m also not that tall, and I just find that I have to make a very conscious shift to one side of the saddle as I come to a stop to get a foot properly planted. I just try to remember to do that for the first half an hour and then it starts to become second nature again. Tiger 900 GT or 850 Sport would both be good to test as a start cos they’re not that tall and you can knock the seat down
Another great vid. Easy to watch and always nice to recognise places. I rode the 1250GS on the off-road skills course in wales. It was absolutely awesome. Get yourself on it, bud.
You know I’m a fan of this channel ! I’m not a fan of adventure bikes, I just don’t like the looks, but it annoys me when people slag off the GS, just look at the sales figures which are not a one off. This bike sounds a lot better than the standard exhaust but based on other videos I have a preference for the SC Project exhaust 🇬🇧🏍
136bhp 143 nm torque is good enough for 2 up ridding. it's not just about top speed . had demo on R1250RT the other week first time on am boxer twin .blow away really thinking about one of the BMW Boxer twin to replace my Kawasaki versys 1000 .
A great review mate. People do make me laugh when they upgrade to a GSA .. it’s the same bike with a bigger fuel tank, heavier, less agile, therefore less sporty! If it fits you (and you need to have long legs) then there is nothing wrong with that. I have had six GS’s, from an 08 up to my current 1250 Hp. I had one GSA which I loved. I just found it that little bit too tall and less agile on a full tank!I would like another but the GS is probably a better option for me! It’s different but never better! Great work, again pal.👍🏻
Hi you mentioned the Gospel Pass, it's gets very muddy after Llanthony during rainy spells, so right now it will be a mess! I took a small group along the road in September in great weather, see my vids
Yeah sir I get too hear that akra...following my mate when we do our big trips...his 1250...not a unpleasant sound but occasionally I think there's a low flying jet when he gives it the beans...🤣
@@MOTOBOBVLOGS rode a few now over the years, but the older 1200gs. Awesome then but I'd imagine even better now. Definitely a bike that does it all but can be marmite for some people because of that reason. Its still not a sports bike
How does it handle on B roads in comparison to a naked bike, for example. Living in London I would be worried to park it anywhere. Always wanted to try one but think the cost of ownership may be a little too much for my wallet.
The first and most important thing to say about the Big BMW and can be said for 3 decades is it takes a good 30000 miles to discover how good it really is .It is that moment you are looking at the beautiful countryside as you come up a rise and then realize you have an S curve to hump ..It is then that the quiet Teutonic voice of the boxer say's YA Vhot do you want me to do ? OK some cylinder scrapers no problem ..I think you saw that when that van came up on you in the wet .. LOve this one Rob ..This is exactly what I am riding here in New ENgland n.Only we have bears and some wild Turkeys :)
I'm enjoying this secret motobob vlog channel! 😜
Good to hear! Just don't tell anyone about it...

Great video. I love my GS and can't think of anything I'd rather ride day-to-day.

Try a BMW R1200R, bought mine 18 months ago, nice and light after older BMW,s and a smoother engine, also the seat height is low, mine is a 2009. Mark
Wow beautiful rides with the beautiful BMW R1250 NCIE place too enjoy your rides keep safe.

Thanks, I'll probably stick to retros and customs though. Both feet down, knees bent and as close to 200 kilos as possible... 😅

Good video! We'll enjoy it more if you have a chin mount view. Thanks!

Although the R1250 GS power might be lower, the torque is still up there with the competition at 105 lb.ft
