The worst thing in the Universe in 2024 is that motorcycles refuse to have a proper 6th gear overdrive. Why are people tolerating low geared streetbikes with no overdrive in 6th? An overdrive transmission would negate 99% of vibration by putting an actual load on the engine. It should be turning 3000 rpms at cruising speed. We need to stop tolerating these horrible low gear ratios.

Wait is it 350 miles on a demo bike, or someone sold their bike with 350 miles? Because that is a pure loser move. When I buy a motorcycle, it's got at least 350 miles by the end of the weekend.

As they used the engine as part of the frame the enfeild engineers should look at the vibration on the bike to see if they could partly subdue the vibes as it could effect sales out side India ,and make the stand longer ,it’s good value and it dose what it says on the tin

Better to get a gen 1 vmax for less than 20% of the cost of this confused bike - it’s an identity crisis, multiple personality disorder bike that doesn’t know what it is and wants to be all things to all people and therefore ends up being not really one thing or the other. It is trying to be a supermodel with 6boobs and 4 booties in one body - sounds exciting for a one night stand, but would you marry it? By the way did this reviewer say “life is too short for boring bikes”? Boring bikes? If you think there is such a thing and need this kind of bike to have fun, then this bike will soon get boring too, and soon you’ll need a 9 cylinder bike with 14 wheels, 40 rider modes, and 999 levels of traction control with 6 separate tft screens to keep you entertained on the road.

The tester I road in march had significant buzzing and vibes. My own I got last Monday is a lot better. Barely noticeable after 250 km but not yet ridden a lot of Autobahn (motorway) as 5k rev limits me to 100 kmh.

Would your rather ride the heavier but smoother Shotgun 650 for riding in the city? (Not off, not travels)

When it comes to the side stand maybe RE missed a trick here? Why not design an Adjustable side stand? As for vibes for me it wouldn’t be a problem as I would hazard a guess it would probably disappear after it’s probably run in like most bikes! Interesting tho!

Hey, thanks for the notes and the comparison. One thing - the 2024 390 ADV doesn't have the same engine as the 2024 Svartpilen 401. It's a newer motor.

Ive had the original 990 Super Duke, 690 Duke, 790 Duke, 890 Duke R and now the 990 Duke. No issues what so ever. The 990 Duke is an awesome bike, the best ive ever had. Just go and try it out, you wont be dissapointed! 🏁

new bikes vibe more and some people 'reviewing' these bikes are quick to say anything to grab attention - anyone who bought a new one knows this. I remember my 1st brand new bike which was an R1 I had massive desire for and saved so hard to get, I nearly took it back and asked for the return of my GSXR 750 i traded in for it because it was horrible at 1st - i went to the shop and they told me what was what and surely enough after 1st service and every 100 mile after that it got smoother and smoother - experience matters. FTR a 450 single will vibrate and buzz - it just will - if that is not acceptable it is the wrong bike.

if someone cant tolerate minor vibes. then its better to ride electric bike

I have a KTM dealer 10mins away from me but won’t be buying one any time. Reliability and warranty support appears to be very poor. Shame as I really fancy the new SMT.

Every single time i open a comment section there are many horror stories about the ktm parallel twin bikes. I have never encountered another make and model of bike with this many unhappy owners. Ktm really needs to get their shit together.

Vibes through the bars and seat are much more distracting, to me, than vibes through the foot pegs. The Triumph 400 sounds like it's far better in this respect.

No brake light is dangerous. You brake and indicate at the same time so you confuse people behind you. Hate dual brake and indicaters

Please dont test ride such bikes, it doesn suit you .. keep it till sub 600s and royal Enfields .. nobody is interested in such talks ...

I genuinely think KTM is making a strategic error with the pricing of this bike. Anyone in their right mind would go for the new 09SP with Brembo front brakes and Ohlins rear shock as well as a full unrestricted electronic suite and one of the best engines in motorcycling today.... for CHEAPER than this KTM. only diehard KTM fans who are lucky to never have had issues with KTM reliability or customer service would choose this bike.

KTM wants premium prices without all the premium components while being made in China. MT09 SP with Olins and Brembos for cheaper.

This channel is awesome and testing bikes like the new 990 Duke is a massive plus. The only thing I’d change are may be like 50% less talking and less voice volume so that we can hear and enjoy the awesome engine sounds. Big thanks for a great channel.

unforgiveable ktm.... i was a loyal customer, but got my fingers burned with the lc8c chocolate camshaft issue.... my bike is well out of warranty and ktms stance on this is diabolical.... they are not interested in any goodwill gesture .... that engine has a major design fault and ktm are just sweeping the issue under the carpet..... ktm never again

Tested it a couple of weeks ago. Before jumping in, the dealer suggested me to put it in SPORT mode and boy was he right about it! ROAD does feel quite smooth and light, but SPORT is a totally different situation.
