I followed your "simple" skincare routine and it turned out very effective on my acne prone super oily skin.. my skin is on it's way to being clear, I haven't got a breakout ever since I started your skincare routine. Slow & steady but really effective! Thank you for sharing, you don't know how much you've helped me 😊
wow that is awesome to hear! Hope you are having a great day!
I was doing the k-beauty regimen of about 8 different products and could never figure out why my skin always looked inflamed and congested. I finally went to my dermatologist who suggested a simple skincare routine plus tretanoin (sp?) and my skin cleared up in a matter of days. I found your videos and really simplified, and now I’m down to three products lol.
awesome! yeah the more stuff the more problems
Unfortunately these days our skin and how we take care of it tends to be representative of social status over it just being an organ that keeps us covered. Its why playing to peoples vanity is more effective in selling skin care than basic self-care is. I get sucked in, but fortunately that's changing (somewhat) for me. Its definitely something I'm working on.
drives me nuts
I love minimalism, and am always decluttering. My daughter takes after me. Unfortunately, I can't get rid of the hubby's stuff, lol. I've been trying to adopt your simple, less is more, philosophy. It's a lot less stress, rather than worrying about the newest greatest skincare out there, that you can't afford anyway. I have an online friend, we both post on a fitness forum. She has breakout prone skin also, although she's in her 40's, and I'm in my 50's. I got her hooked on your videos, and we were discussing simpler skincare. Although we had to laugh, because we were buying more stuff, trying out different things you've recommended. But it's all more affordable and effective, and less products, so we're getting there!
Sherry G thank you so much! Glad you are liking the recs and they have helped simplify things. Hope you and your daughter are having a great day 👍🏼
Hi Dr. Dray! Just here to say I discovered you while looking for information on perioral dermatitis. I was on doxycycline for 2 rounds this past summer to treat my mild case (my skin all over my body was soooo unhappy about that). I was not a fan of my derm who prescribed it to me to begin with and I'm just so SO grateful for your knowledge. I took your advice (which my doctor gave me none of) and I swear it was what calmed and "cured" it. Since then, I have been watching your videos in order - oldest to newest. This is as far as I've gotten so far. I genuinely enjoy following along with your life while learning about proper skincare along the way!!Thanks for being awesome and keeping it REAL!!!
I started using The Ordinary Azelaic Acid 10% about two months ago for my facial rosacea, and it has reduced significantly the flushing that I used to get. The various topical creams prescribed by my dermatologist did nothing for me. Thank you for your awesome videos!
Thanks for sharing this about the ordinary azelaic acid. Glad it helped and hope you are having a great day!
Well, this video is packed full of so much info that I just watched it twice! Everything from Pseudomonas to minimalism to repurposing candles to skincare. And you finally convinced me to order the lemon myrtle - so many uses! Have a great week!
Lemon myrtle is so nice, i think you will enjoy it in diy home cleaning. Glad you enjoyed the video and did a daily double, lol. Hope your monday is going well :)
I love watching your videos. We have very similar personalities and I cracked up laughing when you said you were looking forward to folding your towels !! 🤣
Lol!! Adult joys at their finest.
hi doc. I am back from my 10 day vacation. thoroughly relaxed! how are you doing? this is what I did..
1. I got an ayurvedic massage called abhyangam.. and guess what they served me as a welcome drink? turmeric chai.. it apparently helps in detoxification. the scented candles there reminded me of you doc
2. I made your recipe for carrot salad for my young cousins and they loved it. (I used red carrots instead)
3. I watched a game at a stadium (got amazing seats!)
4. bought some amazing indus valley inspired earthenware
5.I truly understood your point on how not splurging on cosmoceuticals enables us to spend on things that actually matter.
Awesome!! Sounds like a great vacay! thanks for sharing and welcome back :)
Love your videos! Thank you for your informative perspective as a dermatologist. We can also agree on cosmeceuticals. I do have to address one thing, however: in a lab, we compared the efficacy of 1-1 solution of water and vinegar to bleach, and bleach by far is the best at getting rid of pseudomonas. Vinegar and water was the least effective out of all the other comparisons we used against pseudomonas. Hibiclens was much more effective. I used to always use vinegar around the house until we did that comparison. I suggest instead for every day use (since bleach also comes with fumes), 70% Isopropyl Alcohol as it lyses cells and quickly evaporates. If it's good enough to disinfect lab tables and other surfaces, it's good enough for home usage as well. Also, it's best to switch up how you clean at least once per month, so bacteria doesn't get used to your one method. Hope this info helps!
I have tried The Ordinary Azelaic Acid for slight rosacea on my cheeks . I found it okay but wouldn't purchase it again . It did sting a little also . Really enjoying your videos btw , finding them extremely useful . I cant believe how much money i have spent over the years on expensive skin care . After watching many of your videos I am now learning so much about products and ingredients . I bought the Neutrogena gel cream moisturiser the other day , it was as cheap as chips and my skin is loving it . !!! Its so much more affordable than what I used to pay !! Thank you so much for all your information !
awesome to hear!
Love your lifestyle and skincare philosophy! Couldn't agree more
Thanks!
I've been following your "simple" skincare routine with a zinc based sunscreen and Vanicream and Cerave products and my skin is recuperating nicely from a breakout and extreme dryness. Thank you!!!
so happy to hear :)
Silly question but, how do you put your hair in a tee shirt?..... bc I have a ton of white tee shirts that I no longer need and would love to repurpose in that fashion. I am used to those Turbie towels for my wet hair.
I love rolling up my washcloths, too! Not only that but t-shirts, jumpers, anything I can roll haha. Premature grandmas 😂
Hayley Harrison lol!! It is soothing. Hope you are having a great day
Thanks for sharing your life and knowledge with your viewers! I've already learned so much and truly appreciate you!
Sarah Campbell my pleasure and so glad you are enjoying the videos. Hope you are having a great day
You are the real deal and I love that about you!
M Cpay thank you so much for your sweet comments! Hope you are having a great day
What are your thoughts on the use of toners like rosewater and witchhazel???
You are simply wonderful. I'm so glad you're here.🌿
Thanks! Hope you have a great week :)
I love your apartment! I wish I was more like you with being a minimalist. I am quite the extreme opposite. I have way too much stuff. It's actually a compulsion and I'm not exactly sure why I do it. I think sometimes it's to fill a void. I shop way too much and instead of having one or two of something I have 10! It's something that I know I need to work on. I wouldn't consider myself a hoarder, we can still walk through and function in our house...LOL I just think life would definitely be easier with less stuff! I really admire you Dr. Dray and you inspire me to be a better person! Thank you!
Is the ModPodge And glitter safe for burning? So pretty. Also you have inspired me to cut out artificial sweeteners. It is hard because I love the Lipton Diet Citrus Green Tea. Love it your vlogs. I've been binge watching sporadically to see if missed any of your tips for ladies age 50.
I don't have any tips for ladies over age 50 other than the general tips for everyone with skin, and that is sun protection and consistent moisturizer use. I guess a "50+" specific skin rec would be...stop listening to that stupid "anti aging" word. Age = wisdom...but I suppose and "anti-intellect" cream wouldn't sell, lol. I don't put the candle directly into the votive, but rather use a tin-contained tea light or glass mini votive. As far as i am aware it is safe.
Really interesting video. I cannot tolerate tretinoin but find the ordinary retinol 1 % really effective. If I ever get irritated on my neck I use Avene Cicalfate which is brilliant. Question:apart from using spf during the day would you recommend vitamin c for more mature skin?
Thanks! No i don't recommend vitamin c serums because they are just hand waving, as vitamin c is highly unstable and products claiming to have vitamin c are not regulated to demonstrated efficacy, as drugs are; the ordinary retinol is not a true retinoid, and is unlikely to be as effective as a tretinoin at removing sun damaged skin cells and reducing skin cancers
Thank you so much for your reply. I really appreciate it. I will stick with the retinol for now though as I can really see a difference in my skin. .I just know what my skin likes. That's good enough for me. But I will definitely think again about using the vitamin c. That's a very interesting view. I also follow Dr. Sam Bunting here in the UK who uses vitamin c herself. Suppose your approach is more no nonsense and scientific. And I like that.,too. And I agree with you that the most important thing is to use a good broad spectrum spf every day.
Hello Dr Dray! What kind of detergent do you use for your washcloths? Thanks. Judith
Hello Dr. Dray. What are your thoughts on the clay mask made of Aztec Indian Healing Clay + Activated charcoal + Apple cider vinegar?
not a fan
I am going to check out the matcha in the Lanko brand. I love coffee but I have Lupus and scleroderma with raynaud's so I was told to cut down or avoid caffeine. So matcha has much less. I drink turmeric lattes year round though. I will check out the turmeric elixer as well but I usually just use the turmeric powder and add coconut milk and black or cayenne pepper with a little coconut sugar and cinnimon sometimes.
sounds delish!
Hello Andrea! still enjoying the journey through your past vlogs...I was just wondering, with your great organisation, about the washcloths? did I miss something? when do you use them as I thought you do not dry your face, and do not use a cloth to wash it? thanks! xxx
Simple is beautiful!
easy too!
Hey Doc, thanks for all the amazing videos! You have helped my skin a lot. I see a visible reduction in oiliness and white heads since I stopped scrubbing using physical scrubs.
Can you please do some videos on full body skincare? Thanks!
Thanks!!
Dr. Drey ... love your videos! I have a skin care question. After being on accutane my son is now dealing with the redness from the acne marks. What are your suggestions to help fade the redness ? The acne is gone just lots of redness. Would you suggest Ambi fade cream. His doctor even prescribed a new rosesha medicine to try but it is $500.00. Thank you!
best to follow up with treating physician, but no ambi fade cream is not good for post-accutane redness
I tried the ordinaries Azelaic acid and for me it didn't really do anything but make the rest of my products pill. Felt like it was full of silicone. I'm now on prescription Azelaic acid (skinoren 20%) and it's had fantastic results in the redness of my skin and acne.
Shabby Bex interesting about the pilling. Thanks for sharing this and I hope you are enjoying your day
Does the RX version very much, just to be curious?
I've been sick in bed and am new to your channel. Thank you for all your advice. I could listen to you all day. Great sense of humour and lots of helpful and truthful advice. Thanks for all you do.
"Ooow it chimed at me!" You are a stich 🤪!! Recently found your channel & ifeel like I've hit the jack pot! Thanks for all your advice.
I have been told that the brand Supergoop contains salicylates that is actually a weak sunscreen that comes off easily by sweating and swimming. Darn it, I really enjoyed the sample. Is that an ingredient that you recommend avoiding?
Pattyann no need to avoid this..but it is a chemical UV filter, that is not great alone at blocking all wavelengths and therefore other chemical (organic) and/or zinc/titanium (inorganic, physical) is added to broaden spectrum.
Ok, thank you!
How do u wash washcloths? Do u have to do it everyday or can i keep it till end of week washing.
i agree with you about crystal lite i stopped drinking it for the same reason, i feel a little real sugar is way better than the fake stuff hands down :)
Yeah I agree...i also felt that i craved more sweets when i was drinking it
Fun watching you getting your place all spiffy! I like the less is more approach. Kind of brings clarity to one's life.
Question: I have a couple of flaky/dry precancerous little spots or patches on my face frozen a couple of times, but the flakiness always comes back. I suppose I will have to keep having them sprayed frozen unless my usage of tretinoin .025 ends up getting rid of those spots eventually, right? No worries, just curious and I always sunscreen now. :))
Best to follow up to make sure the flaky spots don't need more freezing or another treatment option
I really love the simplicity!
I've just found you and I feel like I've got a million videos to watch. I use a cleanser, vitamin c, acid and oil and then moisturizer. Maybe I've spent thousands of dollars I didn't need to spend!
love your videos! always so informative. I was wondering if you could talk about dark under eye circles and if there are good products and things we could do to lessen the look of them? thanks :)
Thanks! Glad to hear you are enjoying the videos. Tough thing to deal with for sure...not much otc tbh.
Hi Dr Dray!
I’m one of those kooky people who love to do laundry. I know, I know, it’s crazy but there’s just something relaxing about folding clothes into neat, sweet smelling piles. I have tons of white face cloths I keep in my bathrooms just for the face. No scrubbing allowed though! 😂😂. It’s an obsession for me!
I actually have The Ordinary Azelaic Acid 10% arriving in a day or two. I'll use it for a bit and come back and post info. I'm getting it for my mild acne. I also have redness, but not really rosacea redness, it's more related to breakouts. I use PC BHA 2.5 which helps a lot, but I feel like I need a little extra help. Hopefully it works. If not, I'm on to Differin. 😁
thanks for sharing! hope you are having a great night
UPDATE:
Here's some info for anyone who's curious!
So my skin seems to like this stuff! I wasn't sure if it was doing anything for a while, but I decided to keep with it and here recently I notice a difference. It does seem to have reduced my red, painful pimples by a noticeable amount. I can dab a little on a red, open pimple, and the next morning that pimple will by 80% gone. I find it's more effective for me than salicylic acid, no question about it. My skin is smooth and slightly less rosy, with noticeably less acne. As mono therapies go, this was great. I imagine paring it with something else would make it even more effective against some types of acne.
This itches a decent bit when first applied, but it does away within a couple minutes and there's no burning/pain/redness. I used this once per day, during my night time regiment. I applied this on top of my moisturizer, for two reasons: 1) You cannot apply moisturizer on top of this because it balls up and just feels strange and gross
2) Buffering seemed to make my skin happier, because this is slightly drying.
The texture of this stuff is truly bizarre. It's exactly like a silicone based, oil-control primer. It does not spread easily and dries almost instantly. It's a pain in the neck, honestly. Because of this, I ended up applying quite a bit, comparable in volume to the amount of toothpaste you'd squeeze on a toothbrush. But on top of my moisturizer (CeraVe PM) it spread easier and almost seemed to trap the moisturizer against my skin in a beneficial way. It would leave a very matt, dry finish.
So, there ya go. I'm actually impressed enough that I'm going to seek a prescription for the 15% gel. Azelaic Acid appears to be a keeper for me!
Dr Dray, I am currently battling a reactive breakout on my forehead - I believe it may have been from either the Neutrogena Naturals moisturizer/Spf 25 or the Paula's Choice Resist tinted natural spf/moisturizer - so I have reverted back to my usual routine with a chemical spf/moisturizer combo. So, my question to you is what would you recommend to clear this crap up quickly?
evaluation and management by your treating dermatologist
omg at the diy glitter candle votive my daughter is having a wedding this fall and that is something we can do to decorate the tables i love that!!!
oh that will be gorgeous!! So fun to do together!!
Less is more for skincare however I love my stuff around the house decor I'm a lover of painting
:)
Thank you for your reply... you have a wealth of knowledge. Thank you for sharing with everyone!!
Ann Marie my pleasure and I hope you are having a great day
Laughing because I remember when you used to reference your "cancer waters." Wow you haven't had those in a long time! Good for you! Have you tried the Paula's Choice Resist Mineral Sunscreen. I'm kind of liking it!
Lol!! I think I have, but can't remember. I know i tried a tinted one that i really liked.
I tried literally every sunscreen possible. Even the organics. It literally burns me, breaks me out, and makes my skin peel. Pretty sure I’m allergic. If someone has it all over their hands and grabs me, you can see a red hand print. Is there an alternative to sunscreen ?
I use melazepam purchased from Amazon! I believe it's an OTC azelaic acid available in Australia, but it's between 15-20%. It's extremely inexpensive compared to a prescription for finacia, even with how much my insurance covers. I use it for hormonal acne, and the resulting red marks on my fair skin and it works great! I can only use it 2-3 nights a week because of potential irritation, but I alternate with differin.
Thanks for sharing about melazaepam being otc in australia. Finacea is pricey
Hey itslaurennlove. Can you tell me the brand of azelaic acid you purchased from Amazon? I would really appreciate it!
+Iqra Sha im not sure the name of the seller but the brand is called melazapam!
I just started using Melazepam via PureFormulas website and I think it's going to be a game changer; it's already helped with a stubborn, textured patch on my cheek. Can't wait to see the results on a longer trial basis.
Hi have only recently subscribed to you, but wanted to say how much I am enjoying watching your videos. I am learning a lot and it's great to have so many videos to watch.
thanks!
Dr. Dray, I have been binge watching your videos for the past several weeks and all I can say is Thank You! You're so informative and knowledgeable, plus incredibly sweet, charming, and a joy to watch. I'm using up all the products I've already purchased, won't be getting those again, & I've been shopping your recommendations. My friends think I'm nuts, but I don't care, my goal is beautiful healthy skin. Thanks again for all you do. :)
Another wonderful, informative video! Thank you. I think I'm going to have to get a diffusers Witt all of this essential oil talk. I have done a bit of research and have become a believer on some level.
I havent gotten into diffusers, but i like the oracacia sprays.
Dr Dray the sprays are amazing but you made a reference to the antibacterial benefits of select antibacterial essential oils and it made me think of diffusers--such a great way to send the sent through your home while reaping its benefits. I love the idea of adding to my wash as well.
i love seing you honestly I am so hooked ♡ #no.1fan :-)
Aww thank you so much!!
My husband recently started on Retin A, but he has no irritation whatsoever. He follows instructions precisely but still no peeling, no redness or anything. Is this normal?
Everyone is different and much of the irritation is a reflection of both the percentage strength, as well as the burden of pre-existing sun damage. Make sure you follow up with the prescriber, as they may decide to modify the percentage strength.
An amazing video idea would be to talk about best sunscreens for kids on their face/bodies. I’m very curious if a physical or chemical one is okay?
What do cauliflower oats taste like? Looking for new oats to try.
Catherine Root it is regular oatmeal only with riced cauliflower added in place of most of the water...it makes it creamier and adds volume...and you don't taste the cauliflower (I have a recipe videos on this in the lifestyle playlist
I'll check it out! Thank you!! 😊
I'd rather take advice from a professional dermatologist than a beauty guru who uses as touts high end stuff when you mention that a lot of it is glorified drugstore skincare anyway. I agree-- less is more, as is the way with most things in life. Although I will say, I just purchased an Olay facial cleansing brush as I was struggling with congestion in my t-zone area--because my liquid exfoliant was not cutting it; and no lie, after 2-3 days of use my skin was 50-75% better with no irritation! I actually enjoy cleansing my skin again.
thanks for sharing
What kind of ring light do you have and would you recommend it? Love your videos btw!
I am so curious to see how you put your hair up in a t-shirt... I have long/thick hair, wondering if it would even work good for me
Do we cubicle dwellers need to reapply? I smother my face in spf50 at 5:30 am and I come home at 4pm, so please advise if I should wipe off my makeup and reapply; i have my Pond’s towelettes in my desk and I can do a full re-makeover in 5 minutes without even leaving my desk.
yes
Hi dear, I been used hydroquinone and 2% tca for my melasma and after using for 3 weeks and my cheeks become red at the end of the day. Because I applied only on my dark patch on the cheeks so is it okay to continue using it or not? Sorry for my poor English 😊
this type of question is best directed to your treating physician
Thank you for reply 😊
Your skin looks Amazing, what else do you use besides the sunscreen that you use in the car
Aww thank you so much!! You are so kind. Check out my skin care routine video, and the description box of my videos for the products that i use. I am also planning to film another skin care routine video in the next few weeks, so stay tuned. Hope you had a great weekend and monday is ...well as good as mondays can get, lol!
Your vtC paks made me laugh because before I started watching you I had considered an EmergenC facial😁So thankful for your sensibility.
I love simple!
Agree!!
I’m catching up on some of your older videos. “Less is more, keep it simple.”
I hope you will always have that motto!
Could you do a video about the purpose of our skin - like the biology and scientific facts? That would be fascinating!
Hey Dr. Dray, I love watching your youtube videos. I'm curious, What do you think of Lab Series Skin Care for Men?
skip
I think I will concur! One 1.7 ounce jar of mouisturizer is $50 and has 50 ingredients...
I'm loving your videos and all your helpful tips! ❤️💞
I've been using the Ordinary azelaic acid on my chest rosacea. I find it has reduced the redness and bumps. Although, I have become better at either covering that area and/or using SPF 50 there. Also, I've been eliminating foods that are suppose to cause flare ups.
Thanks for sharing!! Yeah trigger avoidance is a major factor in good rosacea control.
My brother has been using it too, despite he has been prescribed Finacea, but he finds the one from The Ordinary works better for him, because the other one breaks him out (so he says). Also he washes his face with a very gentle cleanser from Hylamide, and both things are doing wonders for his skin. It's been a while since I last saw him (we live in different countries), but he swears his skin is better than ever. Next step is to get him into wearing sunscreen!!!!! ;)
New subscriber, here. Thank-you for your feedback on the Elta MD sunscreen. I seem to have a low tolerance for other sunscreens, so will go ahead and give the Elta one a try.
I love the eltaMD and have used their sunscreens for years. Very worth the price imo
Just to update-went ahead and purchased an eltaMD sunscreen, today. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and opinion on this line :)
Annabel Temple which one did you buy and how did it work out for you? I am thinking about purchasing the UV physical
I'm loving the Ibotta app, already got $15, yay! Thanks for the recommendation! :)
obsessed!! so glad you are finding it a dough saver too!!
What is the thing with this dust? Before watching these videos I have never ever heard about dusts. What are they, what do they do, and is it just marketing or is there any actual benefit?
I talk about it in this entire video here: th-cam.com/video/kP-Y-axfk6U/w-d-xo.html
Thank you :)
Thank you for your informative videos, and your prompt replies. You are terrific, and your skin looks amazing! ♥️
Kathryn Stewart thank you so much for your sweet comments and it is my pleasure to share with yall. Hope you are having a great day
I noticed the eucerin smoothing lotion on your bathroom countertop, eucerin carries several versions and I never can tell which is the best one to get. what's the difference between the smoothing, intensive, professional, calming, etc? I love the videos where you go to the drugstore and go thru the ingredients list to determine how effective the product is.
thanks! the one i had in this video has ceramides...they have changed the formulation since then an have added a little acid to help soften the skin as well
speaking of DIYs and vinegar as a natural toner I saw the DIY to use one part apple cider vinegar with mother to 3 Parts water for DIY facial toner I was curious what your take on that was is it good for you or bad for you it supposed to balance the everything back out does it really do that
not a fan of this tbh
I apologize if you've already answered this but I have extremely dry skin, especially doing the retin-a now. Do you have a very hydrating SPF you'd recommend? I had been using a great one from Paula's Choice but it was discontinued. I've tried the new formulation from Drunk Elephant but I'm having a bad reaction to it and it seems to be pulling the hydration away from my skin. That one was strictly Zinc. I'm at a loss what to try next as my skin is so dry and sensitive from the retin-a.
I like the cerave AM one, but some say it causes "pilling." I also like the neutrogena spf100+ one, but it is a chemical one and needs reapplication, and can also cause irritation/stinging .
Shannon Graham, I think I know which sunscreen you were using. Hydralight and Moisture Boost were the two that were discontinued, right? Anyway, I use PC stuff and love them. I don't buy a kit, I build my own routine. May I encourage you to look at the new CALM spfs? I sampled and loved them, and I use the Moisturizer for oily skin daily. The CALM spf for dry skin is very similar to Moisture Boost and the one for oily is, in my opinion, heaps better than the old Hydralight. Grab some samples! People got so hooked on the old products they won't give the new ones a try, but the CALM lines are so good! Happy Hunting. 😁
Thanks Dr. Dray! I was googling and waiting for your reply and stumbled on the Vanicream SPF. I thought for sure that's what you'd recommend. lol
Thanks Rachel! Both my kids use the Calm lotions for dry skin so I'll have to give theirs a try. I was using the Resist Daily Defense spf 25. One of the ingredients they couldn't get anymore so they had to discontinue it & reformulate it. The new formula isn't expected until August. Many would find it too greasy but my skin loves it right now because of the retin-a dryness & sensitivity I'm experiencing. I have about 2 days left of it. :( I had such high hopes for the Drunk Elephant Umbra as I'd used the old formula and loved it. But this new formula stings as soon as I put it on and then it seems to aggravate my already sensitized skin. I'm perplexed as this brand is formulated without so many irritating ingredients. It's such a bummer.
Shannon Graham Oh wow, I missed that info. That must be such a pain. Yes, try the CALM. If nothing else it could patch you along until you can try your favorite again and see if it still works for you. Good luck!
what do you use to edit your videos?
Totoro! 😍
now I like you even more
so adorable, right? I need to see the movie
May I ask why u don’t put as much products on your forehead?
i do put sunscreen on my forehead
Aww do you really think sucralose is all that bad?
I don't have an opinion on it and I don't label things as "bad" and "good." It upsets my stomach and makes me crave sugar. If this is not you, then don't lose sleep over it.
Hi! I used to use just retin a and switched to rectacnyl recently. Is rectacnyl really the same? I noticed the difference of consistency..
No it is not the same. Retin A is an actual retinoid with a long long long track record of blinded unbiased peer reviewed data to back its efficacy and biological function in skin disease. Cosmeceutical retinols are largely useless as they require the skin to perform and additional step on the ingredient in order to get it to an active form. They are not regulated in any substantial manner as far as demonstrating efficacy.
I LOVE UR VIDS SO MUCH
Dang, Dr. Dray, girl! I watched the whole video because I thought you were going to be discussing "SIMPLE" brand skin care!!! *bummed*
I wish I could live simply.
I use so many skincare products, yet I ended up still getting more visible veins on my face.
hope your day went well
I have the same neutrogena sunscreen she showed in the beginning but it has fragrance😭
I know, I just realised stopped using it now.
With your talk of minimalism, it sounds, to me, like you might enjoy Tiny House living.
enjoy those videos
Washcloths? I thought you just use your finger pads? 😛
You're awesome. If I wasn't on a college budget, I'd buy almost everything that you put on your face (because I have acne that I can't get rid of and I'm in my mid 20's but it definitely isn't as bad as it use to be in my teens😔) and also the foods and supplemental products that you eat regularly as I am a dietetics grad student and everything not only seems delicious but is absolutely nutritious 😊
Ps: hey doc, I am currently 26 and I mostly get hormonal acne on my mandible/jaw area and also on my zygomatic bone/cheeks. Any suggestions for me?
Thanks in advance (:
I use the wash cloths to my keratosis pilaris on the upper arms, only
So I have a good question for you. I have looked at other videos on sunscreen to see what other people like in the physical type sunscreens. I have run across a few diy sunscreen ones in the process. Some people are going as far as to say that it's not healthy to wear it all the time, because you need at least 10 minutes of sun exposure every day to get your vitamin D. They are saying this in reference to children in particular. I was under the assumption that 10 minutes is not enough in the first place to get your required amount, and that you were better of getting it from your food. If I'm correct, could you address that issue. I was thinking that that idea may be far more harmful in the long run, for you and your kids, and that idea has been out there for quite a while.
I truly hate hate hate this diy sunscreen bs. It is really dangerous and not a safe or effective method of sunprotection. The American Academy of Dermatology, The British association of dermatologist, as well as pretty much every major consensus opinion is that there is NO known amount of sun protection that can either raise your vitamin D levels without subsequently raising your risk for skin cancer;. Therefore, sun exposure is not recommended as a means for obtaining vitamin D. Furthermore, the level of vitamin D which portends optimal immune health in adults is still an ill defined value. I have discussed this in a specific video (dermatologist's thoughts on vitamin D) as well as in q&as (i think this one: th-cam.com/video/A7Yq_b2LgW4/w-d-xo.html
