My friend was with a Nigerian and he died. His family showed up to fight my friend for his possessions. They said she wasn't entitled to anything because they were not married but had a child. Luckily the man had a will where he left everything for the child and her mother.

All she wanted was the court to help her find the man who impregnated her and make him provide for his child. The court is not a father Christmas, the court can only grant you reliefs that you seek. Otherwise, the Judge could be accused of descending into the arena of Justice. The lady could go back and sue her in-laws for what is rightfully hers and the court will ensure she gets justice. And apart from trouble, don't move about with someone you have zero information about, and who nobody around you has zero information about, especially with small children. When a woman is married by only the husband without being accepted by the husband family her life will be a mess if the husband died. Some parents likes to control everything about their adult children by wanting them to marry their choice and if he disobeys they will hate whoever he married to. There are evil parents both in Igbo and Yorubas, it is not entirely tribal issues.
