I wanted the judge to ask the man why he was asked to resign. Cynical me believes the resignation came about as they waited for the paternity results. I believe he knew he fathered the children and being unemployed helps him avoid full responsibility as he takes care of another family.

Judge fumi is kind of biased, her judgement seldom favor hurting women, she can't hold the man accountable for years of neglect because he just lost his job 3 days ago, but it's OK for the lady who is medically challenged and hasn't worked for o er 6yrs to provide accommodation and feeding for his kids. Unfortunately, the court ruling is not based on emotions or stories told in court. Judgement is based on facts before the court. For you to make sensible remarks, always review the facts and evidence before the court. I empathize with the lady but my advice to people in similar situation is to approach the court early. Don't continue to struggle for 11 years without bringing the other party to justice.
She has been sick for years and I guess immediately she had her twins. The trauma the attitude of her husband brought upon her plus the health condition and being put of job while a deadbeat father roams about the street impregnating different women. It is only a healthy person that can report or sue. I can only say she was indisposed for so many years. May God rise up for her.

I think emotions should be kept aside when giving the judgement. The man birthed the kids and should be responsible for the kids whether hes working or not. He is married legally but still went outside to have 4 kids outside. This means he is capable of taking care of more than the 3 children of the legally married woman. I’m not completely satisfied with the judgment, wether he has a job or not, he his responsible for the children he fathered and so must be compelled to pay all the back child support for the past eleven years. After all, he has been eaten and taking care of the other children from his other wives. Nigerian law shouldn’t be letting irresponsible men go scot free. They need to feel the burnt of their actions. There is no amount of money he can pay that can replace the eleven years those children suffered emotionally about who their father really is and why he doesn’t care about them. The least the court can do is to get the children to be compensated for that.
If we have strict laws in place about child support, most men will become more responsible with their lives and this will automatically reduce the number of children without father which will in turn reduce the number of children who might turn into crime as a result of neglect hereby, bringing about a better society for all.
