I wish they had this back when my buddy and I would restore cars back in the day. He’d buy us one in the early spring when we were in High School. We’d work on it during the summer and winter to keep us out of trouble. Well, it worked and we learned a couple of skills. His dad had every tool under the sun. We rebuilt a ‘51 Crown Vic, ‘55 Bel Air, ‘56 Bel Air and a Ranchero. I don’t remember the year. We did everything from the ground up. Those were the good Ol’ days. Lots of memories.
Excellent video. I absolutely love the 50s cars that come through. So much history, that I wish they could talk. I owned a 53 Cadillac, so this one made me want to wind the clock back and take one more drive.
Would like to see Trevor put in the tank and see what he’d have to say. He’d probably confess to steering the titanic into the iceberg and every other incident in world history!
This Cadillac firewall is intriguing. Most firewalls are ugly with random holes and cutouts. The symmetry of this one makes it look almost styled. It is a thing of beauty.
What an absolutely GORGEOUS canvas for someone! Trevor, your videos, editing, and more detail have evolved in such an awesome way over the past year. You are truly making incredible strides the quality of your filming, editing, and voice over is a true testimony that you have for the beautiful old vehicles, keep up tje amazing work.!🙏💜
Cool that this car has the trunk-mounted factory air conditioning. We can see the two openings for the air scoops and the rear deck openings for the air intake and discharges. It must have been pretty spiffy just off the showroom floor. I would love to see some follow-on videos, sometime, of what happens to these frame-off bodies once they are restored. Good job.
The company who is doing the restoration is called Korek designs. I know they have a Facebook. I hope they post stuff about it. I’ll ask for some follow up pics
Excellent dip. Perfect candidate for the ground up project. Which ever direction the owner goes, at least they don't have far to go to get to the perfect blank canvas. Great job and video.
Fantastic video. I remember that people repainted pink cars when the colour went out of style. I the owner restores it to the original colour. The holes in the rear shelf are for the factory air. I remember seeing the twin clear plastic air pipes that came through the rear shelf.
This is fascinating and so satisfying to watch. I'd bet that lead was applied at the factory to clean up the lip under the trunklid. Looks like all the rot is focused in the areas where snow/slush/salt would collect and evade a hose. Interesting that the floor pans are gone but the trunk pan seems really solid. People really drove those cars before they were classics I guess! Great content.
Fantastic job stripper 👏, a reassurance for the customer he has something to start from scratch, full detail from start to finish, a prize finish to show, I love the older cars they have fabric and a better detail, eye catching while on a tour, the older generations remember the 1950,s 60,s and 70,s cars to witch they owned an were proud of 😊.( Memories).
Great episode !! Tell you what , I'd be most happy to watch the sanding too !! Wouldn't mind if the show was twice as long !! 😊 ❤cheers from British Columbia Canada 🇨🇦
How do you go about filtering out the contamination from the tanks? Have you ever thought about putting out a video outlining your process and shop layout?
I would love to do a video on that. We are in the middle of remodeling and expanding. So when everything’s all organized and optimized I will definitely do a video. As for disposal we neutralize all the waste so the PH is 7. So it basically just turns into salt water, then we pump the sludge and liquid into evaporation tanks with heat exchangers in them to evaporate all the water out. Next we pump the sludge into a filter press which compacts all the sludge into a cake and separates the remaining liquid. Evaporate the rest of the liquid then put the cakes in totes and have a company that specializes in chemical waste disposal dispose of it for us properly
My 54 sedan has just under 54K original miles on it! Interior still has that factory smell and in perfect shape, Interesting To see what is under all of the finished car, inside and out!
This is the best way to strip cars that have rust and previous repaints. I have been using Restoration Specialists in Franklin Wisconsin for the last 25 years, they do a great job. I always have them E coat the parts after because it has to go through another wash. I only had 1 issue with acid leaching on a 60 Impala where the fin seam was but I let the cars sit for a month before doing any work on them.
1954 was the year I was born. lol It would be awesome to see these cars after they have been painted and refurbished. Maybe they will send you some pictures of them to share with us.
He applies a rust inhibitor. Most bodies then go to be repaired and e-coated which is a paint electroplating, the whole car ends up looking shiny black like an aftermarket replacement panel. Zero rust.
My Grampa told me they used to use lead instead of Bondo, but never saw it before. This was cool. Also, until this video, didn't know it spent days in the alkaline, I thought it was an overnight thing. Now I understand why it's such a looooong process. These old Caddy's were a work of art. I'm a Lincoln/Mercury guy, but I can truly appreciate the beauty in these luxury barges. 2 questions. Is a feame off resto easier than a unibody? And do you folks partner with certain auto restorers? Thanks for a great video Trevor! Have a happy n safe Halloween!
Awesome to see the underbody cleanup, we don't get to see that very often. How do you release the air trapped under the roof? Show that next time, your videos are great to watch!!
The customer drilled a hole in the roof. That’s what a lot of customers do. If they don’t want to I have a air siphoning jig I use. I’ll show it in an upcoming video
On your next video, can you include the cart photo? We are 6-9 months out from a project. We are trying to plan what all needs to be done in order to drop it off with y'all. Its an early bronco. Was thinking of adding a roll cage for structural stability. I did see you did a early bronco and they did a single tube across the door frame. Does the body need to just sit on the cart, bolt down, what type of wheels (straight or turning, large diameter, small diameter ext?), or can it be a skid (forklift to move)?
love these videos, ive asked before but don't think you answered back, what happens to all the debris that comes off and how are the chemicals treated after they have completed their cycle , thank you again
Many do not know in the 1950's Detroit stopped using lead and went to " body filler" ("factory bondo." ) There are places where body panels , etc. just would not fit together without it. My family's wrecking yard did a lot of business in sheet metal. back in the day.
Perhaps you could tell your viewers about what chemicals you use, do you mix it with water? - temperature?, does the tank fill up with dead paint? how do you get it out? how often do you refresh the chems etc. and what you do with the waste? I'd like to know :)
New subscriber can't wait to see what's next that cadi is in great shape I didn't like the patch work at all I've helped my friend whom does classic restoration he welds and I grind and never such buggerism is aloud
Weird question but on an average how much actual weight do you think a car loses during this process? From old cars like this ti dragsters and that type of vehicle. 🎉
The pink was the original Apocalypse primer. It was nitroscellulo's lacquer. Acrylic lacquer did not start till 1958. That was an original cream puff.

Thank you so much! It really means a lot hearing such positive feedback! I’ll keep them coming for you!
Its not about the video. Its about the work on those nice cars. I wish we had one near here.

That Caddy is in amazing shape, all things considered. Nice one!

I should not have enjoyed this as much as I did. That’s incredible
What is amazing is that there are some guys out there with talent and skill to bring that car back to life. Man I am so jealous.
I love the site of a stripped caddy in the morning. That car held up better than some of the newer ones bodywise.
This was a very satisfying video to watch. THANK YOU for POSTING.
Nice video. The 54 Cadillacs are some of my favorites. Would love to see how she looks when put back together.
Thanks! Korek designs is doing the restoration. They have a Facebook. I will make sure and ask if they can give me some follow up pics!
Except it`s a `55. My dad had one. The side trim is different on the `54.
Awesome 👏! This is what I need to do to my 1996 Cadillac coupe deville
I like the way the factory-applied lead just laughs at the paint stripper and the pressure washer. So much better than filler.
That looks fantastic ! Another great job !
Thank you! Much appreciated!
You haven't struggled much with this one, great job by the way! ;-)

This process is the absolute best thing for your project. Dont cry about the cost, after you do it you'll sleep better...
Very enjoyable to watch! Great work! Thank you for sharing this!
Dipping is the only way to strip a vehicle . That Cadillac is going to make the body man extremely happy . Great Strip .
In 2023 there is not a single car in the world that will stand the test of time like this one !
Hi Trevor, Sow is satisfied to see the rust and paint disappear when you use the powerwasher. Hope you have a great day :)
Love the fuel filler in the baby fin!! So cool!! ❤
Great video! Thanks 😊. Would like to learn more about the chemical composition of the dip! 😊
It would really nice to see the car fully restored after all that dipping 😊
So satisfying to watch. Keep'em coming!
I don't blame the owner. If the doors close perfectly DON'T TOUCH THEM!
Okay, so once you've stripped the frame, how do you stop it from immediately rusting?
He applies a rust inhibitor. Most bodies then go to be repaired and e-coated which is a paint electroplating, the whole car ends up looking shiny black like an aftermarket replacement panel. Zero rust.

This car will be Resurrected.
And give it a new life. It'll be like it rolled off of the showroom floor and when it's done. It's going to be awesome.
What’s the next step to prevent flash rust ?
That is one massive car - Imagine trying to parallel park that thing!
The floor pans and trunk floor should be a easy replacement now cause every stich is visible. Love the end result.
Thank you!
Looks like new metal right out of the body shop from Fisher Body in the day 70 yrs ago
Great video👍🏁🇺🇸

The customer drilled a hole in the roof. That’s what a lot of customers do. If they don’t want to I have a air siphoning jig I use. I’ll show it in an upcoming video
If you look at 240 onward at the center of the roof you will see bubbles. ( I was wondering how all of the air would be removed too )
You need to convince your customers to do videos on their restorations. I love watching resto videos when they start with bare metal.
Surprisingly, in very good condition for a mid-fifties caddy. Greetings from across the pond.
Trunk came out better than I thought it would 😊
Awesome video. Thank you for sharing your hard work!
Civilization exists on the efforts of devoted individuals who work hard at what they love doing.
Car is in good shape looks nice 👍
Wow that was a very good job you did to that Cadillac.
That really does a stellar job.
Brandon Yamrick here, dope work you’re doing bro & even cooler that you’re able to monetize content off of it! 🤙
That is amazing, I wish I could get my 2006 Jeep Liberty frame done😢 awesome work!👍🏽
Pretty impressive seeing the results of the acid dips, my question is do you dip frames?
Thanks! Yep we do frames too
Always look forward to a strip show from you. Amazing old Cadillac. Super shape and she's an a/c car!
Dumb question. After all the dipping and getting it down to bare steel, how do you keep it from flash rusting. Just curious beautiful job by the way.
Wow. What a system. It. Comes. Clean. Thanks

Is this what the big car museums do when they restore a car? What kind of stripper can we use at home to get results like that? Super nice!
Strange that the acid did not dissolve the plastic rope👀👀. Nice job, can see you love your work

That’s a cool hat Rock Chuck Bullet Swage they make quality gear
What do you put on the bare metal after you put it through the rust tank do you spray something on it or do you wipe it down with the rag
Hey Trevor, Love the video, love the channel!
How caustic are the chemicals you are using?
How careful do you have to be to avoid contact?
Do you ever get pictures of the cars when finished ? Maybe do a before and after video of some.
what did the Chassie look like on this car? Was this a California or Florida car that didn't see any road salt?
Actually it turned out better than I expected
Hi Trevor. curious how you deal with personal protection with regards to fumes and spray when pressure washing?
I'd worry about rust on the roof pillars, and a car not coming out of the tank. Has this happened?
Good.job😄👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
Looks very satisfying work
