I restored a '68 GTX in the late 80's. At the time, I owned a bead blast cabinet that proved invaluable in restoring pieces/parts. The takeaway was that cleaning the parts was so therapeutic and satisfying, these videos have the same effect, it is SO COOL to see the aftermath once they are completely cleaned! The best part starts at 10:25... THANK YOU!
I'm impressed with the previous body work on this Chevelle. I'd be a happy owner if that was mine. Great video Trevor.
Me too! Thank you!
Newly subscribed, and what I see you do, and the respect is commendable!!!! Never doubt that, I worked at GM and gas pump factories, Slugged the metal, warmed the tanks, shifted the sludge, I get it brother. Again, due respect, Cheers from London Canada.
Awesome! Thanks buddy I appreciate that! Cheers!
Solid car. Love that era Chevelles.
57 years old and no rust, I see 5-year-old trucks and cars where I live total rust buckets. The owner has a gem there.
I live on the coast in Australia next to the largest sand island in the world. People drive their new 4 wheel drives up and down its eastern beach, high energy open ocean wave beach. Love to see these vehicles in a year's time. Rust buckets on steroids.
Keep up the awesome work, you definitely earned every penny for the cleanest Chevelle I've seen. It's definitely going to be a wonderful job to restore.
The most satisfying video of the evening.
I had a 68 and 69 Chevelles in high school in the 70’s. The bodies didn’t fare very well with Illinois salt winters. Love what you do and that’s a great car.♥️👍🏼
Sweet cars! Cars don’t fair well in pa either. The stuff they put on the roads is awful. Thank you! I appreciate that!
Much better in landscape mode. Excellent work!!!
Thank you!
That's the cleanest 66 Chevelle body I've ever seen. Definitely worth top dollar even if it is a 283 car. At least it wasn't abused
Did you notice that both the Cowl tag and VIN number plates were both removed , I think some one might be trying to turn it from a 136 Malibu into a 138 Super Sport by swapping Vin and Cowl tags ,
Why else would they be removed ?
Are they removed for this process?
I owned a 66 Malibu SS 396. That was a great car, fun to driver and beautiful to look at. Miss that old car.
simply stunning result
I love watching these videos ! You do great work !!!
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoy them and I appreciate you watching! I’ll keep them coming for ya
I love all your vids but American muscle my favorite. Great job!
Thanks buddy! That’s much appreciated!
This car is in amazing shape. I'm always surprised by the amount of body filler there is on these cars though. Great job! Like the before insets too!
Thank you! I really appreciate that
@@minute_of_dangle ,
On the first 2 dips the Cowl tag and VIN NUMBER plate were there ,
After the Acid dip , they both were gone !
Someone switching it a 138 Super Sport instead of the 136 Malibu ?
i have done business with this shop, ALWAYS recieved ultra clean metal when i picked up everything. i travel about 5 hours one way to and from the shop, well worth it everytime.
and by the way, if i bring my '70 chevelle to you, it is cleaner than that chevelle.
wow the dipping brought that chevelle back to life, you did a marvelous job.
Do did an AWESOME job 👍👍🏁🇺🇸
Perfect body to restore since it’s in such good shape!!
I have worked on a lot of Chevelles this body is in Great shape, Amazing, And I own a 67, Has New everything.
Hello from France! In Europe, we always criticize American cars, saying that they are just piles of rust! this one is awesome! I would like to see one of our French brands from the same year, in the same condition!
your company is great, in France, there is no company like you, maybe one or two! what a pity!
sorry for my broken English!
Pascal!
I take it this car has been restored before. It is in great condition. My thing in recent years has been purchasing and restoring the 1/25 scale models of these same cars.
The canvases, tools and techniques vary; however, many of the problems are the same regardless of the scale or steel vs. styrene. I have made my own Dipper and use a product called Scale Coat. It strips the paint without retching the styrene body. As with the one to one scale, the end product can be no better than the prep of the body. Rarely get it all off with one dip.
I miss not having a chrome plating service these days.
Love it! Sooo satisfying. ❤
Thanks buddy!
Amazing job guys. I'll tell you though. I really wish I had the time, skills, money and connections to build a car from bare metal to firing up and driving away. I can't imagine the amount of pride one must feel from such an accomplishment. Bucket list... maybe someday. I hope the customer brings it back to show the finished result!
I brought a '66 Malibu back from San Diego to Cincinnati in '87 that was in similar condition. Which I knew where it was today?
Wish I never sold my ‘66 Chevelle too.
Absolutely beautiful work! As Huell Howser used to say, " That's amaaazing!..."
Really amazing how well that works.
Wow!!..... That is very clean.... almost no rust throughs (very minimal).... don't see that very often!
That really cool before and after
It is always a nice thing seeing a Gen 1 GM A body that's held up for the most part really well. That RH tunnel rot is an odd spot though but depending on the route the owner is going with it it could be patched or replaced. I always cringe though seeing how bad some of the trans tunnels get hacked for changing the shifter setup or location.
All in all a great starting point. The rear window flange replacement looks like it was done beautifully.
Suggestion.
From what I could gather is it a feast getting rid of any layer over any surface. With a fibre laser cleaner.
If available. Of cause.
Great work.
About 12 years ago I bought a 66 442 Olds from Calif. It never needed repair. This Chevelle reminds me of that.
After the first video that I had watch, I subscribed ! Very interesting to see what is under the paint and mud some try to hide. Some good and some very bad!🤣 you got me hooked!
That’s awesome to watch the results!
That looks like a fun job !
So satisfying to watch
When that car is finished it will be a museum piece.Lots of good metal left .The rusted out areas are going to be much easier to repair.
I did this to my 67 Camaro convertible. It is the only way to go. It is very cost effective.❤
Shoddy body guys love Bondo., 😁😁
Aside from that the 66 and 67 Chevelle and GTO are the best looking years in my opinion.
I'm melting !
I'm melting !
Wow thats a big car, awesome work bro. In the nex videos you can put in there a pic of the car you are working, just to see the model 😁😁😁😁. Thanks for your work man
Thanks buddy! That’s a good idea I will definitely do that!
@@minute_of_dangle glad to help man 😁😁😁😁🤗🤗
I really enjoy your videos.
How long do you normally have to let it sit in the tank and can you leave it in too long?
It’s amazing the copious amounts of braze on a piece of pop can tin,it sure didn’t hold up.Great video.
Thank you!
Would love to see a vid explaining the steps and why they are used. Like what are in the different tanks you are dipping them in?
I’ll bet you get a real sense of satisfaction when finishing the cars and they look new again. I would. It would be nice if say with this car if the owner sent in photos when done restoration
It is very fulfilling. Best part of the job. I have the owners info. He will be sending me some updates!
@@minute_of_dangle that will be great 👍
I really enjoy your videos!
Please wear eye protection while on the forklift. You have enough chem in the tanks it's possible to get a bubble burp just right and chem could splash you in the face. I really have enjoyed both my eyes for almost 60 years. 🙏🏼
Gotta love the double dip
That car has begun to get a new life!!!!!
I'm curious about, how you pressure wash the body's with the bare metal and they don't start to rust again.
Do you not know the process did you pay attention?
What keeps the bare metal from rusting up before primer is applied? How much time do you have? Just wondering . Thank you
Probably a phosphate coating
Agreed…. Awesome old car
just a suggestion perhaps a video on how they get to you are they shipped on a pallet truck trailer car hauler? walk us through the process after stripping the paint n rust do ya spray it down with oil or something to keep the metal from flash rusting? do you strip aluminum ? how bad is too bad to dip?
Pretty good job man. Thanks .
"And I'll be your stripper today" 😂
Thanks for all the great content!
We ALL really like when you add the dip time to the video.
Great job! I was just wondering why the windshield pillar covers weren't removed?
Very satisfying !!! Just subscribed !!!!
Thanks buddy! I appreciate that!
Great workmanship from the video's I've just started to watch. Based on this 1967 Chevelle, what is the average price range from high to low. I'd like to send my 1968 Chevelle (body off the frame) to your facility. Thank you in advance. Take all the time you need as I'm not in any rush or time constraint.
I'm new here but have a couple of basic questions. Do you coat the car in something like vegetable oil before shipping it back to prevent rust? Do you ever get pics or follow up on these cars when completed?
We apply a water based rust inhibitor immediately after washing. I have a Porsche 911 finished pics on my profile if you scroll down. 95% of the cars that I’ve made videos for aren’t finished yet but I’m in contact with multiple customers that will be sending me finished product pics.
Muito legal seu trabalho deixa o carro na lata pura assim fica bem mais fácil pra restaurar parabéns prá você
I too love seeing the “repair” that some cars have endured through the years, but this one is fabulous. Thanks for the play by play that you do. Some things are not so evident while watching as they are when pointed out. 👍💯
Thank you for watching! I’m glad you enjoyed it
As a Midwest kid, I wish I could find cars that look that good. Especially under the price of a mint.
How do you protect the finished cars from flash rust? Do they need another dip after the body repairs have been made?
I wish I could have afforded to do this with my truck cab before I started working on it... it'll be rust free when I get done, but this would've been so much easier... Lol! Update video of the finished car would be cool when they get done building it, if possible...🖖🏿😎👍🏿
Very impressive .. I have a 66 Chevelle, what does a job like that cost? just curious
That's a solid shell.
WOW! A bodymans dream to work with!!!
Great job!
Wow well kept unit
Sorry for the naive question but why is chemical dipping preferred over sandblasting?
You should build a Conex Box or something a littler larger with like 100 Pressure washer jets that you push the car into to do the work for you. You'd have to get into some small spots but might make it easier and faster. Idk. I could be wrong
love the channel, excuse my ignorance, how come the acid does not affect the tie ropes?
Love the vids you are certainly sounding more comfortable with your game. And the humour in your intro😅😅
Keep it up Trevor 🇦🇺
❤ thanks buddy! I really appreciate that. I’m starting to get the hang of things lol
That is so satisfying...
I am really jealous '66 is my favorite car but never had a chance to buy one in the past.
For an almost 60 year old car, it's in amazing condition.
Patch up a car using a stop sign is my funniest.
Great job
Very inspiring liked and subscribed can't wait to see more of your work!
show muito top essa trabalho 👍👍
Nice job on the dipping and getting rid of the chemical residuals. Of course, down the drain were water goes to be recycled. 😢
How often do you have to change the chemicals in the tanks? How do you dispose of the used chemicals? Are the regulations a nightmare to comply with?
We have a 65 mustang at work right now we want to get dipped but they don’t do it in the state i live in
Nice to see a real Malibu. There are way too may clones out there.
what grit do you sand with to break the clear?
Do you have to capture all that runoff? How do you deal with it?
how often do you change the acid in the tank?
Why is this so pleasant?!
I don’t know but I’m glad you think so
There's something satisfying to see dirty / disorganized go to clean / organized.
This uncovers all kinds of secrets
Once it's completely stripped, how do you keep it from flash rusting?
Like the cameo from Rodger Rabbit.
I wonder if they offer a primer sealer dip too. A lot of the metal is hidden and a spray primer will not get all the areas that's inside closed off metal sections.
An intro. Aren't you getting fancy!! Good stuff as always.
😂 I’m trying lol. Thank you!
So why is the clear coat so hard to remove in the dipping process?
Nice job. Can you tell me what acid is in the tank?
My brother had a 64 Chevy Chevelle Malibu it was his first American car in the UK .
I bet they are going to make SS Clone out it. The body is in good shape!!
unbeliveable clean except for the 'hack job' for the shifter hole
I loved this dip .... My very first car 🚗 I ever owned was a '66 Malibu , unfortunately I ran it into a tree 🌳 6 hours after I bought it 😢😒🙄🤔😠 P.S. yay ... you fished Rodger out 😂
Oh man that’s terrible. 😢. I’m glad you enjoyed the video! Unfortunately I didn’t get him back yet. This was actually finished before the video I lost him in. I just didn’t get around to editing it.
For that era of GM? I am shocked that it has that little rust damage. Usually its all rusted out around the wheel wells and the floorboard is totally gone!
That's not a rust belt car. It's probably from Florida or Arizona
