    I love my Aquaracer Solargraph Ti. It is very comfy and super accurate. I prefer the all matte finish as opposed to the as with high polish bits, particularly in the center links.
    I've sort of repurposed mine to be stylized more in a motorsports theme. I had a customer made perforated rally strap made for it in a dark gray Alcantara suede leather, black rubber lined underside with matching polar blue accent stitching. It really plays the new part and aesthetic well.
    Not going to lie, it's an expensive watch. But, it's also still a luxury product from a luxury brand. It is what it is in terms of pricing, style, design and quality.

    edit: Citizen already done every type of watch into solar (I have GMT, chronograph, dress and ana-digi eco-drive, pretty much almost every type), it's great to see any other big brands follow up with this trend

    I've tried this watch on and loved it. However, I have a bunch of Citizens and my CB5896-03X and BJ7111-51M cost me £550 for both. They'd both blow this away at a tenth of the price. I like it lots but cannot reconcile £2750 for a watch that has a similar movement to what I already have at a fraction of the cost.

    One major error in this video: LaJoux Perret doesn't supply Citizen with the Eco Drive movements: Citizen fully owns LaJoux Perret and Citizen fully developed and has always made the Eco-Drive movements in Japan. For the TAG, Citizen sends parts to LaJoux Perret for final assembly so that TAG can still market the Solargraphs as "Swiss Made." But as good as the TAG looks, it's worth being clear that they're charging $3k for a watch with a Citizen movement that can be found in Citizen's own 200m titanium divers for $750 MSRP...or less than half that price in stainless steel. The Aquaracer is a great piece of design, but it's also a pretty naked example of how disconnected from reality the prices of Swiss watches have become.

    • @romanmichaelhamilton8729
      @romanmichaelhamilton8729 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Absolutely well said and 100% spot on! The Swiss really are very greedy and don't appreciate their customer base.

    • @MeestroDavid
      @MeestroDavid ปีที่แล้ว

      @@romanmichaelhamilton8729 It's amazing when you look at what luxury watch brands were charging 30+ years ago for their watches and compare them to now. Even adjusted for inflation, they're typically charging 5-10x more, yet all of the production costs have been drastically reduced due to brand consolidation (for example, all Swatch-group watches using the same movements), outsourcing most components to China & Malaysia, and robotizing manufacturing. We're being asked to pay much more for watches that are mostly made by robots, mostly made in China, and mostly made by the same few companies putting different logos on the dial as part of a tiered marketing strategy. And it's remarkable that none of the major influencers in this space will even approach that discussion. Instead we get folks telling us with a straight face that a $4500 Tudor is a fantastic value but never really questioning why a basic, machine-finished, mass-produced, time-only mechanical watch should cost even a third of that price in 2023 (and, yeah, I know that paying Beckham to pretend he'd wear one costs a lot of money ;) )

    • @stefpix
      @stefpix ปีที่แล้ว

      that image in this video of the movement looks exactly as the movement that is in my Promaster BN0000. The Citizen Promaster BN0200 Ti reminds of this Aquaracer, although shamefully, that Citizen model is 44mm, too large and it makes the dial look plain with too much dead space. If Citizen shrank a little the BN0200, add a more interesting color for the second hand, and made the crown a little larger, it would be such a compelling alternative. That Citizen can be found for US $300 grey market, refurbished or on sale. I had it and sold it, but it is such a close design. Tag Heuer really nailed proportions and design. But the Citizen super titanium may be more scratch resistant

    • @stefpix
      @stefpix ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@NBodi well, it looks beautiful, it is thin, great dimensions. The Citizen eco drive movements last for decades and are accurate.
      For the price, Tag Heuer could have collaborated with Citizen for a movement with a sweeping hand, 4 ticks per second. Citizen also has higher end solar movements with a few seconds accuracy per year.

    • @MeestroDavid
      @MeestroDavid ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@stefpix or, for $3000, TAG could have at least used Citizen's better eco-drive movements, which deliver +/-5-seconds per year accuracy with a perpetual calendar function. Instead they rebranded Citizen's cheapest eco-drive and act like it's a technical revolution.

    How exactly do you adjust the strap?

  • @EdwardViaTomato
    @EdwardViaTomato ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I really want one, but it's a touch too small for me. The small size thing right now is a trend, and when I put it on my wrist I can tell the race to the bottom of sizes probably won't last.
    I tried it on as well as a Night Diver, and the Night Diver seemed like the better suited size for an Aquaracer. It's also 20% more than a Longines Legend Diver. And since I already have an Aquaracer, I'm probably better off putting that money towards a Cartier Solarbeat Tank.

  • @Jeroentia

    I got the titanium version. I truly love this watch. It is so light and it isn’t that shiny around the wrist. Must say that I also think the price is a bit high for a quartz. But for me it is still worth the money.
    Ps. I have a watch where the second hand does line up with the markers otherwise I wouldn’t got it.

    I prefer Swiss watches to be mechanical and Japanese watches to be quartz for a reason. Swiss brands treat quartz as a price point where as the Japanese brands revolutionize the technology. There are cheaper solar with better specs and the watch solar watches that are higher in price(Astron, Attesa, Oceanus) offer a lot more functionality than what Tag Is offering. They are way late to the game with their solar offering.

    And if people like seeing the movement so much how come Rolex and Tudor are so popular.

    • @heinrich3427
      @heinrich3427 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For most people it doesn't matter. Only people that watch watch content on social media are relentlessly conditioned to prefer mechanical movements over quartz, that Rolex and Tudor are great watches that hold their value and that Tag Heuer and Hublot are bad brands and many more tropes that are repeated over and over again.

    For this one model, don't buy online; go to a boutique to make sure the one about to be sold to you has its second-hand lined up with markers before you let go of your money. I owned two Citizen Eco-Drive dive watches; great design and features but both died young not because taking in sea water, but circuit deterioration. I'd like this one even more if Tag Heuer just put a regular engine, even a standard ETA one, in this lovely case. If Tag is going solar, it should consult with Casio.

    The lug width on my 2016 Aquaracer is 20.5mm - who the hell uses this width?? I love the watch, but the lug width is so bloody annoying. I have the Tag rubber strap, but after a while it starts to age and decompose. Trying to out a NATO in is annoying as you need to use a 21mm - again an odd size (cheers Longines!) but it is just a tad off when buying straps. As much as I like TAG Heuer, until they start using 20 or 22mm lug width, I would not buy another one.

    Yeah there needs to be put an end to the whole mechanical watch snobbery. I much more prefer a $1000 watch with an accurate solarquartz movement and a well finished case rather than some swiss $3000 watch with a +-15SPD movement and 48hrs power reserve at 15mm thickness.
    That being said, a $3500 Tag Heuer with an Eco-Drive is nothing short of a ripoff. I'll buy one at $1500 used or just get a The Citizen instead.
