Totally agree, I have three tags, next one will probably be a Tudor Pelagos, but who knows, I hate the influencers who seem to copy each other’s opinion and slate certain brands. It’s easy to fall into their trap but you take a step back and think about what you like, it doesn’t matter if it’s a £20k or £200 watch, what matters is that you enjoy wearing it.

I've come full circle with TAG Heuer; my first expensive watch was a TAG F1 chronograph from early 2000. I've gone on to collect Sinn, IWC, Rolex, JLC, Moser. For some reason I came back to TAG Heuer now. Recently picked up the Carrera Panda and a Carrera Dato. Stunning watches.
Frederic is doing far better than I had expected. I just hope one day, LVMH will have the wisdom and courage to split the brand - TAG for the mass market and smartwatches and Heuer for the collector/enthusiast market. I can only hope.

It got me to part with my money... So I agree. The quality is there, too. Not just the looks. My only gripe is that the date doesn't change over instantly, and that I've noticed that the date will not fully turn over so that it is perfectly centered in the date window if you don't have a certain amount of power reserve. That's nitpicking though because you can manually center it. If you actually wear it a decent amount of the day and aren't a watch freak switching multiple watches in a day, it will turn over properly and wind up centered. I am, unfortunately, a watch freak though. Hahaha.

Thanks Teddy for putting together this video. My first luxury watch was a TAG Heuer that was given to me at my high school graduation in '91. I didn't know anything about watches, so I didn't much think about Quartz vs Automatic, but this watch was an automatic version. I loved shaking it in my hand and listening to the rotor spin around, even though I had no idea what I was listening too. Fast forward to today, and COVID allowed me to really develop a strong interest in horology. I've learned an immense amount of information from your channel as well as other enthusiasts. I understand the reasons why enthusiasts are polarized by TAG Heuer. Time will tell if TAG Heuer can get back into the good graces of the haters, but like you, I do think they're headed in the right direction. I believe one of the things LVMH could do to further prove they're on the side of the enthusiasts is to remove "TAG" from the moniker and put the brand back into simply the Heuer name. "Heuer" is where the pedigree is for this brand.

My first watch was the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Calibre 5. Absolutely special and beautiful watch and has been the most complimented watch from my collection. The compliment’s received has been from non-watch enthusiasts but I believe many watch enthusiasts opinions has been impacted by other people views on the internet due to heavy criticism. Some criticism possibly deserved but many being undeserved in my opinion. Most TAG Heuer watch owners are happy with their watch and I would recommend people trying it on if they are considering to purchase one. The last thing you want to do is not buying a watch that you want because of other peoples opinion. My only regret is by not purchasing it used as it could’ve saved me alot of money but hey there are advantages of buying a watch brand new :)

For what it’s worth, I’ve been in the military for well over a decade and about 8 years ago my wife wanted to buy me a watch. She has a friend that is a watchmaker for a luxury brand and he suggested an Aquaracer quartz because it’s durability and that’s exactly what I was gifted. This watch has been through everything you can possibly imagine. I never understood why so many watch enthusiasts are looking for a high end “military watch” that’s indestructible but Tag Heuer is right in front of their faces. At least in my world most guys are wearing Tag, Hamilton, and Seiko.

I've have 2 Tag Heuer. A 2000 Kirium which is still in my rotation as a workhorse & a 2008 Monaco CW2111 which I love but wear less as the plexiglass crystal is just so easy to scratch. The classic square aesthetic of the Monaco just does it for me and after 15 years its value hasn't dropped. The new glass box Carrera in your video is tempting but as you mentioned earlier, that price bracket now has a lot of competition from some very good watches.

I refer to 1995-2020 as TagH dark years because they lost their way from my perspective trying to compete more against Seiko than against their Swiss peers. I've bought and sold several hipster WIS classics over the years but I always come back to tool watches that I can wear every day. The Tudor North Flag is a particular favourite as I can comfortably wear it on a multi day trek and not worry that it will break.

Me too. I appreciate the background information. Gives me some insight into making a watchmaker distinctive without alienating the vast majority of customers. 20+ years ago a friend selling watches at Macy's asked me which I would like. I disliked all of them because they seemed more like fashion accessories than time pieces. I struggled to find anything suitable Then I spotted a traditonal looking chronograph in a gold case that turned out to be TAG Heuer priced at 10X more than the other watches. It was the only one and was unsold for years. Recently I saw an article on a TAG Heuer LE that I actually want and hope to find one in a dealer--none left in the US.

Now I find myself drawn to dark bold pink. I recently went into a high-end jewelry store and fell in love with the bold pink Carrera. I now own and love it.

The green titanium Aquaracer, I have my eye on one as its apeealing, stylish and very comfortable to wear -is the right size -as are theyre newer releases. Makes sense that the top fashion/luxury family in the the world is involved in this revival.

For all of the past drama with the brand, I still see the Monaco in places I would not expect. That watch is so recognizable. I was watching a car mod show and RDJ even had one on. Guy can afford anything but he wears a Monaco as a daily. And despite the shake up in motorsport over the past ten years, I think there is room for more development and collab with that platform. It is a piece I keep an eye on for sure.

I was at my jeweler's the other day buying my new Tissot Telemeter 1938 and was staring at their massive Tag section while I waited. I really like the Monaco. I don't have a square case watch or a modern tank style and was just looking to see which brands in the store had designs I like. The Monaco caught my eye. As I evolve in my career and have started to appreciate and collect watches, I might try to get one of these when I am comfortable with another luxury purchase.

I bought a Tag Heuer Formula One about 15 years ago because I loved the black bezel and white dial and the sporty look. It is quartz. I was expecting Tag to redesign the movement to be automatic, but have not seen it yet. Tag also makes a GMT Pepsi style, but it is an aluminum bezel, not ceramic. My point is TAG seems to fall short by not using modern materials and movements. Once they do, perhaps LVMH could gain market share. Or at least hold their value better.

Tag Heuer was the first swiss watch that I really wanted when I was in High school at the height of Formula 1's popularity. As I grew and learn more about watches, I saw more value for money elsewhere. But with the new design and consistency as Teddy had pointed out, I'm glad to see where Tag is going. I'm so impressed with the Carrera Glassbox that now I'm a proud owner of their chrono reverse panda.

To me this watch is just dripping with style, and rugged sophistication, with a great running, supper reliable quartz movement that keeps better time than any automatic watch I own, and, or have owned.

I've been wearing two watches for years: Omega SMPc (41mm, black lacquer dial) and Tag Heuer Carrera Heuer 01 (43mm, non-skeleton dial). I like them both and had to buy a special Carrera as I am a car enthusiast. But I also like watches and know a thing or two about them, so the SMPc scratched that itch too 😊.

Looking at all brands for my third watch, and the one that I’ve tried on and was the most eye catching - The current all black skeleton Monaco. Didn’t go into watch collecting wanting TAG’s but I’m now a fan. The brand gets a lot of hate hype imo. I would say TAG is one of the most exciting brands to keep tabs on in the future….

My brother got me into Formula 1 in the late 80s; that was my early exposure to the TAG Heuer brand. In the last year or two, I realized that I liked the style of some of the watches in their Formula 1 collection, so my first "nice watch" is from that collection. Now my view is expanding to include other brands, but for me it started with TAG Heuer.

I really liked the Carrera, and considered one for my first watch. The problem I found was they called the movement "in house" and I don't believe it was, after looking into it (if I'm remembering right), I think it is a modified workhorse movement that is similar to many other entry luxury watches, so I decided to save money and get a Tissot Powermatic 80 as my first watch. I may be wrong about the in house issue, but by the time I was ready for a watch at that price, I was interested in Maurice Lacroix then jumped a notch and went to Omega Seamaster.

When you have a great product, as a company, you stick to it, then marketing and sales do the job, and with time product people are forgotten, and having these strong sales and marketing lead to forget what brought the brand to this place, which is a great product. I had Hamilton, Seiko, Omega and Tudor and I just got my first Tag Heuer. Because they offered something I liked the look of. I love it. It’s a Calibre 5 Aquaracer white dial with orange seconds hand. It’s sporty and durable. While the brand is trying to revamp itself now. People should get what they like. The brand name and history is what what the “prestige” is all about. Yeah some movements are questionable but you’re paying for a name when it comes to watches.

Does anyone else experience misaligned dates with their Skipper? It always feels like it's not dead center, and could be how the font spacing was made to be...
E.g., I know at 11:15 the date is off due to the date change period between 9 to 3, but the alignment more or looks like that at other times, albeit less exaggerated
