I’ve had a Tag aqua racer for 25 years… Have worn it every day. I’ve serviced it 3 times in that period. It works perfectly and is still in immaculate condition. It’s still sparkling like the first day I took it out of the box. I’ll hand it down to my boy when he turns 18 next year and I will be replacing it with the new version. 🎉

You said it perfectly: "these things are not needed". It's important to understand that the focus on the ultimate high end in price/performance comes from an obsession and not from realistic day-to-day requirements. It really all just depends on what the individual prioritizes as a watch enthusiast.

I think Teddy slightly underplays the Brand Value of TAG Heuer in relation to motorsport in particular. If you're into motorsport, then TAG Heuer's associations with Formula 1 and Le Mans in particular are absolutely iconic and give it a massive prestige edge over other watches in that market segment. For me, as a petrolhead who's favourite film was "Le Mans" as kid, with the Steve McQueen connections, the Monaco was absolutely my Grail watch - bar none - and I'm thrilled to own one. I guess that's going to be specific to a certain segment of watch buyers, but a lot of people who are into watches like engineering, and therefore are also into cars and motorsport. If you have an interest in both then TAG Heuer is an absolute obvious choice.

The question is whether they are living on their past or pushing ahead. Car-wise, I am "stuck" in the past with 917's , 512M's, and so so much history. Remember the analog drum computers used in rallying? Still, TAG IS forever linked to motorsports just as Omega with Bond and Apollo. So be it and enjoy.

Tag Heuer was my first luxury watch. I bought it in the early 1980s (yes I'm older than dirt) and I loved it. The watch was a Formula 1 two tone with a black face and bezel with gold highlights, beautiful. In the intervening years Tag fell off my personal radar not that I think there is anything wrong with them but other brands have caught my eye and watch dollars.

Watches should suit your personal tastes. I have a TAG Heuer Carrera stainless with a kinetic (automatic) movement exposed with a sapphire back. It is a marvel to look at the technical wonder of the movement--more watches should offer this! The durable materials, heirloom construction, waste-free mechanical design (no batteries), and understated elegance fit my personality perfectly. I absolutely love it. On the subject of $500 v $5000, spot-on feedback: I have both, and the 70hr vs. ~40hr makes a difference when you come back from a weekend and have to set it all over again, as well as realizing you’re late for a meeting because the $500 lost over 2 minutes cumulatively over a week. Some of the watches I wear frequetly in my collection include an Explorer II, GMT II Coke, TAG Cal 16 Titanium in black/beige w/leather strap, and Oris Aquis 400 in steel/blue. I get far more unsolicited compliments on the TAG than the Rolexes or Oris. The TAG just so happens to match the black/beige of my german sports car too so yeah, us motor heads like TAGs.

Agree with you on TAG, they make nice time pieces always have. I own a Link Chrono from 2010 it's accurate and a very nice piece. But as you said the price range TAG is in today is utlra competitive and there are a TON of other options to go with. I have liked the Heuer Carrera releases but they also have jumped up in price and makes me wonder if TAG's hoping to branch into a higher tier of watchmaking.

I was looking for a vintage dress watch and then I saw Knives Out. It tipped me towards Omegas and I bought a vintage Omega 1950s Seamaster, at least in part due to that coincidence. Obviously that didn’t make Omega the company any money, but it is my first Omega watch, so you never know where that goes in the future (actually I do know where it will go)

I purchased a new Tag Heuer Professional 200 meters in 1993 (980.613B). I saw it on the wrist of an employee at an audit client and asked him about it. I purchased the same model shortly thereafter for $300. I had Tag perform a complete service on the watch last year including replacing the crystal for another $300. It's my only wristwatch and I have had no problems. The new 300 meter Tags are around $2,000 which is too high for my pocketbook.

@@jwillwork3683 what are you talking about? Acts 11:26 Acts 26:28; 1 Peter 4:16. Three places where “Christian” appears. Christians are those who follow Christ. Christianity is the faith of Christians.
“In the original languages (Latin, Greek, Hebrew) which provide us with the names Jesus, Joseph, Justinian, etc., the sound which we write as J was pronounced as the English letter Y. (Just to make things confusing for English speakers, the phonetic symbol for this sound is [j].) In Latin, the letter for this was I/i, in Greek it was Ι/ι (iota), and in Hebrew it was י (yod). Thus, the Greek spelling for "Jesus" was Ιησους, pronounced something like "Yeh-SOOS", and the Latin likewise was Iesus.
Subsequently, in the Latin alphabet the letter J was developed as a variant of I, and this distinction was later used to distinguish the consonantal "y" sound [j] from the vocalic "i" sound [i]. However, at about the same time there was a sound change in many of the languages of Western Europe, such that the "y" sound changed into a "j" sound ([dʒ], or sometimes [ʒ]). So we have it that in English, the letter J now represents a consonant [dʒ] which is not obviously similar to the vowel [i], despite the fact that they descend from the same letter and the same sound. (English also has many [dʒ] sounds spelled with J which come from native Germanic roots.)”
So because I mention Premium Bibles, you felt it necessary to jump in with this conspiracy theory?

My Tag Heuer series 1000 which I purchased in 1991 is still working beautifully. It may be a quartz but the only money I’ve spent on this watch was the initial $450 plus battery changes every four or so years, pressure checks, replacement gaskets and maybe four or five routine servicings. Watch snobs be damned; this was one of the hottest watches of the 1980s and early 1990s. Unfortunately, Tag Heuer discontinued the 1000 late in 1992 and rolled out the series 1500 which didn’t exactly set the holographic world on fire. Yes, the 1000 was a Rolex Submariner homage but with a Jubilee bracelet. Classic!

I have always liked watches and it wasn't until I was researching Tissot and Christopher Ward as companies to purchase a watch for my brothers wedding gift , that I realized there was a watch community! I think Teddy was one of the first ones that came up, and then I saw Watchfinder, and was watching that Irish guy for awhile (he's really funny when hes discussing God Tier watches!) All of this was last year and now I have seen so many people who do reviews but I have been able to learn so MUCH in regards to watches. I am glad that more people have begun to make videos as now I am more informed and can make better purchases. I decided to buy my brother the Tissot Le Locle Powermatic 80. White dial and Leather strap was too beautiful to pass up! He really enjoys it and now that he has an Automatic, I need to dive in and buy myself one. Teddy discussed the MIDO Oceanstar GMT on his channel once and I have decided that will be my first!

Their first iconic watch, the Monaco, was made famous in the movie La Mans with Steve McQueen. From they branched to to start with Formula One racers like Hakenien, Raikonen and some other F1 gents of the 90's early 2ks. Their most famous brands are all from racing heritage, like the older Actavia's and earlier Heuers.

Pure class as always Teddy. Personally, I love seeing someone wearing a Longines, Tag, or an Oris than someone wearing a Rolex. I remember that Adrien was defining “Luxury” in a video months ago and said Omega wasn’t luxury and Rolex was because they’re harder to get. But I see more people out in the wild wearing Rolex than any other brand. They’re also obviously selling more watches than any other brand so maybe they aren’t as hard to get as we’d like to say. I was offered a Sub from my AD a few months ago and I turned it down.
