ALL the transcendental etudes?! damn. I haven't seen anyone do that since Berezovsky and he was sweating an ocean. Yunchan is cool as a cucumber :O must be that teen endurance... those were the days lol
His Rach 3 is amazing! Its actually on trending right now, which I never have seen for a classical piece!
@@charlesjd - really? Thanks
Great Pianist. Bravo.

Saw his rach 3 in person on friday! The audience was going nuts. Yunchan is a star. Hopefully he becomes famous because I got his autograph lol.
Me too. I was in the denim jacket.
@@rohinagrawal9727 lol i definitely saw you then. Because the jacket caught my eye.
Jealous you got to see that live, can’t wait to hear him perform when he comes to NYC
@@JG_1998 c'mon man, Rohin is trolling you, we went together, both in white shirts
Liar
His Rachmaninoff 3 was on another level. I didn't watch his other rounds but this performance alone left me speechless.
You absolutely must watch his liszt etudes. They are just as good. 😭😭
I think one of the biggest charm of Yunchan was, you can just tell from his playing that he didn't give a damn about the prize. He just plays the music while cares nobody. Yet that really has made him gold inside and outside. Truly incredible and unbeatable.... Love him!
yes, He seems very mature. This is what he interviewed. " I don't want to be famous, and I just want to play the piano inside of the mountain. But without money it's impossible. " Ha ha.
@@alhambra119 I saw that as well. He just seems that he’s from another planet, far beyond the mundane

He said that from 3:20 , but the lady didn't translate it at all.
This is what he said. " My desire is to ditch everything and live inside the mountain with my piano, but I can't survive without income. (smile)
I don't have even 0.1% of ambition career-wise. I participated in this contest just to check where my level is and I know there is so much to study.
@@alhambra119 thank youu
He started playing the piano at the age of 6 and now at the age of 18, he won the Cliburn, playing Liszt 12 Transcendental Etude S.139 and the Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No. 3. He is a genius.
I have 18 and I'm trying to do the same, but only the transcendental etudes hahahaha
Anyone can do if they started early.
@@sagar1992 absolute cap
@@sagar1992 you need to train many hours a day to get the technique, but the musicality part he has, I don't know how you get it hahaha

Bravo! The most powerful Rachmaninoff 3rd concerto I’ve ever heard!
He’s the new star!
This young man is brilliant. He has it all.
Mazeppa no longer sounds like an etude. Remarkably clean, somehow even more intense
I think it's fair to say he is a genius.
Unbelievable! Awesome &:unfathomable how an 18 year old can play such a bear of a piece with such dazzling genius.
Magnificent!
crazy good...
this channel came out of nowhere and suddenly i've watched all of the videos without realizing. man knows the algorithm
I was skeptical of this kid at first, but given the scale of his reach and depth of technique and musical understanding with his chosen repertoire, he easily won this competition. The RACH 3 from the other night was just icing on the cake. Rarely does a pure talent like this come along among dozens and dozens of others who all play and sound exactly the same.
Ironically, this kid does sound the same and doesn't stand out in the slightest. Good technique isn't enough.
@@toothlesstoe perhaps you weren’t really listening or observing his approach. Maturity and mastery at the keyboard for someone his age is rare, the kid’s special.
@@elliotthayes1176 Musical maturity doesn't happen till mid adulthood. He still concerns himself with theatrics, when that doesn't matter in the least - a sign of immaturity. I'm not surprised to see a teenager play like a professional when they've been playing all their life; that's usually what happens when you slave at the keyboard but actually like doing so.
@@toothlesstoe This dude is not only toothless but clueless as well

There's no difference between this and a Beatles cover band.
@@evelyndiamant4833 out of touch with reality lol, does him winning at 18 mean that anyone can do it if they try or could it possibly be that he's a 1 in 10 million genius?
@@noymar2210 hey, to each their own. Pessimism never helped anyone, nor is it an accurate depiction of reality. First of all, there’s no deadline by which you “need” to do or be anything, and second, his playing is inspiring because he’s part of the future of classical music.
@@noymar2210 have you ever considered, both? And no one should ever try to be someone else, but themselves. You can take inspiration from his work/charisma on stage, etc., and implement that into your playing. Geniuses aren’t born. They’re made. (Yes, with natural talent and all of that), it still takes tremendous effort, willpower, hope.
Oh, that's an easy score! I can almost sight read that 🤣🤣 Seriously, he played all of Liszt's Transcendental Etudes in one sitting? How does anyone even do that (regardless of age)?
Mazeppa ain't got shit on Feux Follets in terms of difficulty and o mother of all that is holy what a performance did he nail on that one.
Fantastisch, bravo 👏
It is even more surprising that he started at the age of seven at a very common piano teaching center in Korea where the price is low (usually $120 a month) and no major students attend.
