I can definitely relate to the struggle of overeating/eating to get dopamine because of adhd. It's come to a point where I gravitate towards sweet things whenever I'm slightly bored, even when I'm not hungry. Diets aren't for me either because I have a very black and white mindset... so I always get too restrictive and end up binging as a result. So I've been trying to slowly get rid of overly sweet things in my house and replacing them with healthier options I still enjoy, but without restricting myself too much either. That, and trying to move around more
Yeah I unfortunately don’t really like a lot of alternatives and I have a lot of restrictions to foods already due to physical health 😂😂 It’s very frustrating though and I wish it was more understood as everyone thinks stimulants are the instant skinny pill and clearly it’s not worked that way for me ahahaha But thanks for sharing coz it definitely helps to see other people also having this struggle. I usually only see the ADHDers who forget to eat all the time 💀 can’t relate hahaha
@@ArtieCarden I'm personally unmedicated so I can't speak about the effects of stimulants other than caffeine, but the amount of people (including some healthcare professionals) who assume ADHDers want to get medicated JUST to lose weight is baffling. I definitely don't forget about eating, and sadly it's the first thing I go to when the understimulation doom hits... that, or scrolling endlessly on tiktok which is probably not better either. Anyways I hope we can eventually find comfort foods that don't make us feel guilty
@@zephyr2073 yeah I’ve seen that assumption a LOT. Whilst it was something I was curious about, it wasn’t the priority 💀 I’ve worked a lot on my relationship with food so I definitely don’t feel guilt anymore when over consuming, because sometimes food is just the best thing for right now when it might be hard to gain any pleasure in life at tough points and I think that’s just as valid as eating for fuel. But it is quite annoying trying to work through all the misinformation out there (which is why I worked with a nutritionist for 3 months, she helped me learn what to aim for with foods and macros but in a very non-diet-culture way) I think for me there will always be the struggle since I’m chronically ill it’s deffo not as simple as ‘just eat better and move more’ lol But thank you! I’m please I’ve been able to be more active since I started this, both because It means I’m well enough to do it, but also coz I has made me feel better generally. I hope you can work out something that works for you, whether meds or not meds is the route you need to go :)
