    Hey. I'm only 14. And I've always fought to get the goalie spot. And now that I finally got it. My coach decided to play in u17. He brought in a new goalie. Who is 6'3 and has at least 100lbs on me. This was due to my coach being worried about me getting injured. Since I'm only 5'5 and 122 lbs. So, could you make a video to help shorter/smaller goalkeepers. Thanks for the great video. Very helpful.

      I can relate to this so much. I’m not playing at the same age division as you but I know that being a short goalkeeper is very tough. Mainly because of the height difference between me and the other goalies that are on my team (I’m 5’1 btw) I have to compete with them more than ever now. All I can say is do your best and don’t give up if you want to really play goalie.

    Love that you use the terms split save and block save. As a Futsal keeper coach, those are the primary saving techniques I also teach my outdoor keepers. One add I would suggest is emphasizing that using the block or split save body shape also puts the keeper in a better recovery position for any potential second ball/shot, as opposed to sprawling out on your side (old way) which takes longer to recover from. Keep up the great work!

    • @GKGOLUREMI
      @GKGOLUREMI  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Glad you enjoyed the video. I actually mention that the block save allows you to get to your feet quicker than diving at the 7:05 mark. That is a huge reason why I prefer the block save over diving.

    • @andreneves33
      @andreneves33 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Futsal keeper here..always had the thought that in some cases is way better for goalies to use the split to make the save instead of trying to get it with a hand in a dive, specially in closed shots and crossed shots that go near your feet and are hard to catch with the hand, usually it's too late when the hand is in place,the body takes longer to fall then a leg to spread... keepers like ter stegen for ex use it a lot and we've seen some savage saves made like that
      Peace out...
      And yes we all have some screws loose xD

    • @Adrian-wd4rn
      @Adrian-wd4rn 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@andreneves33 Yeah, but the other argument can be said, we've seen the likes of Buffon, Cech, lehmann, khan, seaman etc do it the old way....10/10 would prefer them in the sticks than ter stegen or any of the younger keepers. ;)

    • @andreneves33
      @andreneves33 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Adrian-wd4rn by any means I'm putting those keepers aside and their style, I've grown with them,not ter stegen,but things evolve and I can see sometimes it makes the difference,you know those cross shots that come close to you and instead of going with your foot you try to dive but when you fall the ball has already passed you..the difference is in the details nowadays.

    My daughter faced her 1st 1v1 break away tonight. It went about as you might have expected for a 9 yr old novice goalie staring down a boy coming at her her full steam ahead. She froze right in her tracks and gave up the goal. Her team still won 2-1 to remain undefeated but now I can show her this tutorial so she’ll know what to do next time it happens. Thanks for sharing!

  • @pandagt5355

    Amazing video! Love the mention of the block and split save, I can never argue how important they are in the keeper game. It's shocking to see that not many people use them and over commit themselves with a dive. I use these two together all the time when playing on the street or playing an actual game, and it's helped me save COUNTLESS 1v1 situations.
    Also love the example at 4:02. It's always important to be ready for the attacker to try and dribble past you, especially if he cuts back because typically your momentum ends up sending you the opposite way. That was probably the best and most useful clip I could find in this video, all were amazing though.

    • @GKGOLUREMI
      @GKGOLUREMI  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I wasn't even taught how to use the split save properly till I signed in Finland at 22 years old. The difference it makes on breakaways is insane. And honestly still find myself going to ground a bit more often when I'd like as opposed to using the block save. But yeah both are crucial for saving 1v1's.
      And at 4:02 that's really something I picked up messing around while doing rondo's (5v2) where I just dive/slide around like an idiot. And it turned out to translate well to actual game situations.

      GK GOLUREMI My specialty in goalkeeping is flexibility and reactions so I already knew kick save. I’ve always used Neuers technique of splitting your legs open, and depending on the situation, closing or opening your arms. Only problem is I’m 6 3 so sometimes the ball rolls under me which is annoying. I don’t use the block save that much, I used to, but once I watched ARS goalkeeping video on it I started using the kicksave. Anyways this was a good video and continue making tips videos on training. Keep up the good work and gl in Zagreb!

    GK Goluremi. This video is going to help me in 1v1 situations. Mastering timing is the most important aspect to defending a 1v1.
    When the attacker is first moving into the 18yd, you have to time your movements to when he is off the ball, and the instant he has the ball at his feet you need to be set to make the save.
    Once the distance is closed down the timing is just as important as there is no time to react. You have to anticipate to some degree when to make a decisive move, and time it to the attacker's movement.
    The attacker always has control over the pace of play, but in a 1v1 you are completely beholden to his pace. You have to be perfectly in sync to have a chance at making a stop. Its something that you can only do repeatedly after hundreds and hundreds of hours of practice.
    A couple tips that might be helpful in training. 1: If you are still young and developing skills, its always best to train at a slower tempo. Because its such a rhythm based technique its essential to get an intuitive feel to matching the attacker and then slowly speed the drills up.
    2. Train with different players and ask them to make their speed and movements erratic. Dont fall into remembering a pattern or matching your own internal clock to a single training partners pace. You have to be able to intuitively match the attacker no matter how quickly or unintuitively he makes his movements.

    • @GKGOLUREMI

      @@HenrySaveAll Yeah, the split save is better when there's a little more distance between you and the striker. Because then they have more space/time to try and wrap the ball around you. And kicking your leg out helps you cover a bit more ground laterally than the block save.

    Angles angles angles. Make the striker go where he doesn't want to. Decrease his target and his options. Maybe some of those defenders can get back to help.

    These are good. But how about 1v1s where the ball is bouncing. The moment you take a step out they can just lob it over you. Never knew what to do back in my playing days.

    • @algarawii
      @algarawii 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They will certenaly lob it over you if your going out to fast. With great timing and great predict when to go out he will never lob it over you.

    I love it when the guys running at you and you run at him and full blown dive into him and at the ball, shuts them down completely lol. I guess you may call that sweeper keeper or just going off the line and going up to him and being more at him or idk lol.

  • @ericlee4572

    Thanks for the awesome video Goluremi. One quick question: how do you block if the ball comes between your leg? I've let one between my leg just last night and it is by far my least favorite mistake

    • @GKGOLUREMI
      @GKGOLUREMI  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Honestly, blocking those just comes with time and experience. Because you have to 1. Recognize the ball is hit there and 2. Quickly move one of your feet to block the ball. Those balls can be extremely tough to save because we normally don't expect them. But if your legs aren't insanely wide apart while in your set position most attackers won't think of going for the meg.

  • @Saltylemur

    I think the main reason we play in goal is because the rush of making a save and the buzz can keep you going the whole game, it’s great!

    The toughest thing in goalkeeping is saving 2 v 1s. I have a chance in 1v1, but against 2, I’m really up against it and it’s down to luck.
    Any tips?
    My advice to my defender is to chase the guy without the ball, to cut out that pass so I can deal with the 1v1. Not much luck so far.

    I've played GK my whole life, I played for my national team at U-15 and U-17, I CAN play multiple position tho, and a TON of games at LB and LW/RW.... In my time as an attacker at both club and national level, It is INSANELY-... Easy, to score 1v1's😂...I dont know if I just had cheat codes for it, but 1 chop has 60% of em on their ass already, and if that doesnt work then faking a shot (from one foot to another) gets 99.99% of em.... The most sure-fire way tho is just to shoot powerfuly, on the ground and aim for the inside of the post when ur 6 to 10 yards away
