I’ve torn ligaments in both thumbs in arena from point blank rockets. And that’s why fingersaves plus thumbsave (Uhlsport supportframe+) are an absolute must have for me. I been playing keeper year round for 25+ years on 2-3 teams. Personal preference, but I don’t have time to get injured.
fingersaves are not for protecting you from breaking your finger, but they could help in case of quick reflex save or high dive after powerful shot when you touch the ball just with tips of your fingers and it help sometimes to save some shots when you don't tense muscles in your hand. It is helpful and you can get used to it
Yeah I remember I did a reflex save but I didnt expect it, so the ball rolled into the goal. Im looking for a specific type of save, not protection equipment, its called a fingertip save
Actually that is precisely what they were designed for, but you are just as likely to break a finger with ot without them. There are stats to prove this. You'll make fingertip saves with or without them. I no longer wear them, they take away my freedom of movement and I frequently make fingertip saves. It's being at full stretch that really helps. I'm still making such saves at the age of 61. Gloves help to protect your hand and fingers and grip the ball, but it's the goalkeeper who makes the save. The glove is of no use if you don't make contact with the ball and the faster he ball is moving the easier it is to make that save. Reflexes and concentration are what's needed along with knowing your angles, positioning and being aware of where you are in relation to all the other players around. Especially the position of the man with the ball. Watch his body language, especially his shoulders when he is obscured. This helps should he shoot through a body of players to gauge the direction of the ball. Remember that the gloves are only a tool which you should always wear for protection, absorption and grip. It is you who makes the save!
My dumbass comments aside, this was another fantastic goalie video. I've never seen a tutorial on how to tape your fingers if you're a keeper - that's awesome.
Good Video.. i love my fingersave and wrist control gloves.. havent had any issues playing with them.. i just bought me a pair of Rinat asimetrik hunter with fingersave.. im excited to try them.
I’m a sophomore and made varsity as a keeper and I’m super nervous, soccer is the biggest sport in town and I’m just so nervous for my first game, Is there any advice I can get?
Just do what you’ve been doing and keep working hard you made varsity for a reason and just remember the best keepers in the world get scored on so don’t beat yourself up if you get scored on
how to wash gloves faster???? baby wipes!!!!! cleats, ball, gloves.... anything. I like the Costco brand (Kirkland). have 3 little ones at home, so its much easier to come by the wipes. regardless, I think it worth the little expense and save your time. cheers
Shower with them in lukewarm water then just use a towel in the shower to clean them squeeze the water out never twist it and be gentle its not the fastest but the most efficient
It’s my first year playing soccer take into consideration I’m a senior and they put me in varsity because I was the only tall goalie available and so our team plays in the highest division possible and they are always placing high in state championships so with the high competition the shots are extremely hard and my fingers are not used to it so I feel fingersaves actually give me confidence to catch and dive without constantly thinking I’m going to injure or bend to far back my fingers
My gloves have spine supports because I have problems with muscle spazems, I play in a disability team as a result. Would tape still have the same effect to keep my fingers nice and stright? The spines make it require more force to bend the fingers, that's what is keeping them in order for me.
Honestly man I'm not sure what would be best for you. I've never met another keeper who has issues with muscle spazems. So I don't really have an informed opinion on the subject. I'd say try taping them and see how it feels. If you like how the tape feels over the spines then go with that. And if you preferrer the spines then stick with them.
@@tylerback1320 No worries! I'll give it a go and see what happens, can't hurt. I am just thankful that our local FA has disability leagues, otherwise I might find it hard to get playing! Anyway, love your videos, keeping an eye on tips :)
I played soccer two years ago but I’ve been very on and off ever since. I want to commit to soccer again and get good enough to really be considering going pro. Since I’ve been on and off I’m kind of just jumbled up and confused when I try to practice. Right now I’m 14 and want to be at a high level for when I’m 16 or 17. Im thinking about just doing a hard reset, and just going through relearning all the basics and work may way up that way so I don’t miss anything as it’s been a while so I’ve probably forgotten some fundamentals of the game. What kind of training schedule and drills would help me get really good for the future? (I mostly played winger and fullback 2 years ago, but I’ve found that I like distributing the Ball a lot and it’s a bit easier for me to pick out a pass than dribble through a bunch of defenders so I’m thinking about being an attacking midfielder, kind of like a mix of KDBs passing and Neymar’s flair)
I not only like how the finger savers protect my fingers from balls I've also pretty much broken my pinky so I like having the protection but I have also been kicked in the hand and it helps with that I don't have a problem with grip with my finger savers either but if you don't like then that's cool.
The finger savers will also protect the wrist from a Colles Fracture, which can occur when the hand is bent backwards over the forearm . Additionally, I believe they are called finger savers because they help make saves with your fingers in addition to the fact that they protect the fingers and wrist. I only take out the thumb and leave the other 4 finger savers in the glove.
I agree with you. I advise young goalkeepers especially to use them/ get gloves with them. They will help reduce “over extensions” which can take a keeper out of a game. they also reduce the severity of hyperextensions. When players get older it may be advisable to no longer use them but I have also never seen gloves with them give a player any problems.
@@adoro1342 Am i the only one who thinks finger saves makes a difference when you only touch the ball with the tip of your fingers barely. When this happening with finger saves the ball get parried in wider angle, therefore more chance to deflect outside and not back in the net. At least this is my experience.
Yagami913 Here’s the trick - Use fingersaves for your middle and ring finger, they will parry the ball and add stability to where the hand will most likely meet the ball. It’s better to get your own finger strength, but I personally like having some form of protection when I have to make a full extension tip off.
Enjoy your explanation for why don’t buy fingersave! I used a lot of fingersaves and I it depends of the brand and system you are using. The adidas, reusch and puma fingersave system are the best in the market since they provide you a great flexibility to grab the ball. Puma flextec fingersave system actually it’s the only one I know in the market who protects your finger from injuries on the sides. I suggest you to look to it! J B G some finger safe gloves come with a zipper (mostly right above the wrist/sometimes more towards the middle of the hand) or you can carefully make a small cut (on the back of the hand DO NOT CUT THE “CATCH” FOAM) (about 3cm) about 1 or 2 cm beneath the ending of the finger save (in the middle of the glove) and push the finger save trough the cut (push on the finger tips of the gloves and work your way down, start with the middle finger and ring finger), BUT the gloves are made to be worn with the plastic strips in it, so removing the finger save from a glove does change the fitting and feeling of the glove. If you don’t want to wear finger save anymore the best thing you can do is buy a new pair without finger save and save your current pair for emergency situations (if you have to lend your gloves to a field player for example or for when your other gloves tear)
Once had a referee give an indirect free kick against me because i palmed down a shot that was hit at me, tried wasting time with it at my feet then picked it up once the striker approached me....Couldnt believe it haha
