That's the goal being the number one source of gk tutorial information 😉 Here's the link to the 1v1 video talking about the positioning aspect: th-cam.com/video/ajsh6NNMN0Q/w-d-xo.html
@op1gk I have a problem. Besically my friends come wayyyyy to close to the goal without shooting the ball and basically nearly touch the line, if I dive they don’t have enough reaction to well jump so they call it a foul. What do I go ?
As an 11year old goalkeeper at 4:44 how do you get down quickly into that position? Also what do you do in a 1v1 situation where no defenders have a chance of getting back or pressing the attacker?
1. To get into that position quickly. Firstly stretch to be able to do that. Secondly, you would be in a 1v1 set position to start with meaning that getting into that position will be quickly. 2. If you are certain that no defenders will get back then you must try to keep the attacker at bay for as long as possible as the long they wait to score the more likely they make a mistake. However some goalkeepers like to be very aggressive and apply loads of pressure onto the attacker leading to them making a error. You have to watch the attacker and if they make a heavy touch then attack, if they are confident and technical then hold them off until you can dive in.
Not much Technical difference. A extended block saves is used as a last resort and without momentum whereas the split save has momentum when executing it and used when shots are taken further away out of reach for a goalkeeper
Please help me with the smother save, around a week ago, I smothered this big striker (6’5). And I don’t think I was using the proper technique to smother someone, because it resulted in all his body weight falling on my shoulder. It resulted in a severe rotator cuff injury, and I was wondering if I did anything wrong while smothering him. He dribbled me and the ball was on my far right side, so as a final hope, I tried to smother the ball off his legs, I did so successfully but he ended up falling completely on my shoulder and now I’m out for three weeks.
The correct information regarding the smother is within this video. I reckon what happened was you caught the ball and didn't bring it into your chest resulting in the attacker tripping over the ball and onto your shoulder. If you brought the ball into your chest after you caught it then the attacker would trip over the ball and completely miss you but even if they landed on you while the ball is in your chest then your shoulders are in a way more stronger and secure position meaning this shouldn't happen.
@@OP1GK you are completely right, I didn’t bring the ball back into my chest. When I recover from my injury I will practice this at home before implementing it into a game. Thank you so much.
Thanks so much for this 🙏 If an attacker tried to skill you up or does random tricks do I just stay firm in position because if I try to follow their movement they could croqueta or flick the ball over me and score?(as a gk)
Hello, I'm new to goalkeeping, how can I get used to diving? Also, are the goalkeepers wearing a special outfit? I'm not a professional, I'm a goalkeeper for fun, can I dive with a normal outfit?
Hello mate and welcome to the world of goalkeeping ☺️ Here is a video to help you learn how to dive: th-cam.com/video/stKDv0UkcPM/w-d-xo.html And by special outfit I'm sure you mean a different colour kit to the rest of the team? If so yeah goalkeepers wear a different colour to the rest of the team
@@n1ghtm4re36 yes there are padded tops and bottoms to wear for goalkeepers. I recommend not buying padded bottoms but rather padded underlayers. This is because if a team requires you to wear a certain bottom half, you can't wear your padded bottoms but if you have padded underlayer bottoms then that will be fine, this applies more to padded top layers more. No worries and thanks a lot👍
Maybe you're too upright when going for the ball taking a longer time to get down lower. Or you react too late for the shot. Practise 1v1's a lot to get better as you won't get it first time however once you realise the problem you will and get better, this won't be an issue.
@@OP1GK yes I don't lower my body when someone is coming towards me i think that's the problem and sometimes they shot right in my hand but I don't save this happened once or twice but I don't know why
So impressive how much you cover in a single video. Am planning my GKs session and this gave me so many ideas for that 🔥🔥🔥
I try my best to say as much as possible 🙏 hopefully your session goes really well 💪

What If the attacker doesn’t take a long touch and takes short touches, do u go forward or stay back and wait for him to shoot the ball
Go towards them slowly with caution.
From experience, I would approach slowly and take mini steps to close the angle and have time to react for a shot instead of rushing in and blocking
I suppose it comes down to what kind of keeper you are

What’s the difference in technique between the 2nd block save and the split save? They look the exact same.
