  • One of our most aggravating attempts at getting an engine to run ever. This hillbilly machine was ravaged thru and parked 30+ Years ago. Will that old 350 chevy fire back to life? I hope you all enjoy this episode! Thank you as always for the continued Love and Support! I hope you're having a great week!

Guys, I've torn down my share of engines, and watched hundreds of "will it runs" but I've never seen anything like this one. I am very proud of you for working your way through the year down and rebuild. I am glad that you plan on finishing the assembly of this and I too want to see it run and drive before you do the engine swap. I love this old truck. My former Pastor had one 50 years ago with a 6 cylinder and 3 on the tree. Thank you so much. Love the channel.

That was the most INSANE 'will it run' resurrection I have watched! The crank timing gear backwards and out of time absolutely sent this one over the limit, LOL! You have some incredible patience and perseverance to have stuck with this one!
I think I would have cut the rear flares off immediately after bringing it home, before washing it and even unloading it off the trailer. Those things look TERRIBLE!

So the new way of setting valve lash is loosen all head bolts, adjust out lash to eliminate clearance, re-torque head bolts. I like it!
When the carb flames like that and you know it's not fuel flooding, spin it over with the starter.

    There's something about a backwoods 4x4 build that I can't help admiring.
Back in the early 80's up at College in Michigan, some guy built a 68 Camaro rs/ss clone into a 4x4 too.
He did a really clean job on the build, and that started my love for these bizarre rides.
Hope to see her on the road soon!

    Dear Budget Buildz guys
I simply can't resist to tell you what I thought instantly: Oh no, not another rotten car project! I hoped that they would finish one of the already started ones completely. Of course especially the 911 Porsche at last. Even if it would only be a kind of update. Everybody seems to wait for that kind of content.
Best regards, luck, health and wisdom.

Listening to your commentary isn't like a couple rebuild channels I enjoy, but the straight forward commentary is refreshing. No attempt to be funny in a over the top sarcastic manner, does anyone here know what I mean?
The relationship with your father takes many whom follow your channel back in time to working with their pop in the garage. We're proud and lifted in spirit to see that there are sons and fathers that are keeping up the tradition of collabrative multi-generational automobile repair alive.
Thanks for sharing and I'm glad to hear your father is now with you full time doing what you love to be immersed in as a unit in harmony.
Best regards from a new subscriber out here in my latter sixties retired alone in Arizona, missing my pop.

  • @billywird
    @billywird ปีที่แล้ว

Well sir this is the truth of my statement. My first thought when you started this video and the pan was off and there was a rod cap off of the engine and it sat so many years and wound up in a junkyard, well that kind of told me something, and if it was my project I would have yanked that engine out, put it on the stand and took it apart, and just minimum replaced any parts that need replacing to be able to get it running (you can run them on your engine stand). Now of course I can understand your trying to get it running in the car and it sure looks as though you encountered a "pandoras box". I do applaud your attitude to continue on to get the engine running, and it does at least run. By the way that harmonic balancer is a press fit and not a taper fit. It presses up against the lower timing gear on the crankshaft. A good job of getting it running.

Dude they actually did a really good job covering the strut towers back in the 90s!! With what they had around looks built pretty dam good. Probably just slapped the body on a good ol blazer frame. She is super wide like cardi b!!!! And not one single gasket. That motor was bolted back together after they found that spun bearing and put on the shelf... that's crazy every single bolt is loose, dizzy was 180 out.

i once bought a very clean engine from a UK scrapyard, absolute bargain i thought
like yours it didn't work. stripped it down, spotlessly clean inside, but no gaskets + loose bolts
turned out it was from a training college, so it had been stripped down + re-assembled every day for 10 years! all the threads in the block were worn out/stripped due to over-use
very shiny junk, i escaped with 4 pistons + a crankshaft only

Never would've guessed that motor would've run again, at least not without a full rebuild. What an accomplishment!! Also that poor engine probably went through hell every year of it's life to have spun and destroyed a rod bearing when it was barely over 10 years old. But it is hard to kill a SBC, at least fully, and that's coming from a Ford guy.
