      Here in Mississippi about every third or fourth house has something from the mid 1960s to mid 1970s sitting behind it. Now that Mississippi got rid of all yearly state inspections you can build anything you want and don't have to go through any government say so!

    first car i ever drove was a 63 falcon, three on the tree straight 6. 1973 i was 4 years old, my mother would sit me onner lap and let me steer and shift. by 12 i was driving it alone. the last 2 half years of high school in the mid 80s, i drove that Falcon. my grandfather bought it new, when i was a kid he let my mother drive it because we didn't have a car, being we were poor af, dad didn't pay child support back in the 70s or ever. the thing is though, the grandfather was my dad's dad, not my mother's dad.. lol i never changed it, i just gave it a valve job, re-ringed it and maintenance, clutch, brakes. it never broke down ever. thank u for this episode, brought back some good memories.

      Title says truck
      Licensed as a truck
      Insured as a truck
      Manufacturer calls it a truck
      It is a sedan based truck, much like the original light duty pickup, the model T, built off the model T passenger car.
      You can call it a car but you’d be wrong. Cars don’t have open cargo areas.

    This reminds me of my sister’s first car - a 1960 Frontenac. The Frontenac was a rebadged Falcon sold only for the 1960 year at Canadian Mercury dealers. Assembled in Oakville Ontario it featured a different grille and several decorative maple leaves on different parts of the car. Talk about basic transportation, but that was the charm

    I bought a 68 Ford half ton with a 390 FE, could NOT turn it over with a six foot cheater bar. Sat with no hood or carb, or anything covering it. Engine was full of water. Dumped a bunch of Tencher Iodine, use for castration of catle, got it to turn over, put a carb on changed oil, and got it to run, even drove it a little. When I tore it down it had five D shaped exhaust valves. Gotta love the old junk! LOL

      @mikewillett5076 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jerryparks6123. I've always primarily been a Chevy guy, but I agree that it should have a Ford engine. As for which is better, the 289s bigger bore can fit a little bigger valve but the 283 is an overall beefier motor with a still great bore to stroke for revving. (Just don't use the early rods!)

Idk if you noticed it , it looks like the rear wheel fenders have been re-flared and from the looks they did a first class job , I did the same to mine to give it that factory vibe , took me over a week all metal no bondo . My grandpa gave me a 1960 Ranchero in 2003 for graduation. Drove it for years. Now it sits in the garage waiting to be rebuilt. He dropped a 66 289 mustang drive train in it. I am planning on putting my 4 speed top loader in it and a 68 shelby supercharger in it. I want to build it like a kid would build it in 1969/70. No parts that would have been available from after 1971. 1970 technology and before. With maybe the exception of the 78' mustang II 8" rear end in it. That thing is bullet proof.

    This truck was a daily driver. I drove it many miles and a fair amount of distance at times. The transmission linkage is a boo boo. That can and should be made right. With the Bridgestone tires I had good control of the truck. Yes it rode a little rough, but with the shocks on the front helped alot. Was not setup to be a drag racer, but on the freeway I could cruse all day at low rpm. Could get triple figures speed in 3rd, no sweat!!! Then their was 4th. Some of the stories I could tell. What a great resurrection! I have seen a lot of the "mini Rancheros, as the Phone Company had a mess of them, and they could be bought used for a song. All that aside, why not install a small block FORD in it? The engine compartment was actually designed for it, as a 260 (maybe a 289) was available with 4 speed from the factory in '64. I had a friend at the time who bought a new '64 Falcon convertible, which was so equipped. You could also put the original style front suspension in, making it a bunch safer and better handling.

    You could easily drop a 351W in there with just the '63 Falcon V-8 engine mounts. Get that Chivie out of there!

    Nice. Brings back memories. I learned to drive stick shift on a ‘60 Ranchero. Rompin’ stompin 144 with 3 on the tree. Question for Freiburger: was it more disgusting than the Disgustang?

    Deserves a better stance/suspension. I like it, you should build it.

    Just today I looked at a 63 Falcon Ranchero. Body looked real good and in primer. It needed plenty of time and money to be nice. I intended to take a picture, then I saw the price, I didn't even take my phone out of my pocket. Fifteen thousand dollars was posted on the for sale sign. Now I realize the rarity but, 15K , come on man, might of been a joke. I bet there was a camera recording people's reaction when they saw the price.
