Hi guys, we’ve tried something a bit different with this video, adopting a 'non-spoken audio’ approach throughout - hope you enjoy! Please let me know what you think in the comments below...
Hi, first time watching your videos and I can say I absolutely loved it. I religiously watch loads of fly fishing reels and videos and this is by far one of the best. No requirement to be talking in my opinion as fishing is a visual discipline. Please more of these. Thank you.
@@riflemang176 Wow, I'm so glad you like the format - music to my ears! Based on the initial feedback, we'll definitely be producing more videos in this format :)
@@riflemang176 I believe you're referring to the spider/wet fly setup. I'm using a Vision Onki 10ft 5wt, WF5F fly line, 9ft tapered leader (cut back a foot or so), with a 9ft tippet of 4lb mono with 3 flies around 2ft apart. Hope this helps.
@@capturedonline Lyn that's a huge help thank you so much. Just to confirm that's around 17ft of leader and mono from the fly line? I never thought of using such a long leader/tippet but makes sense not to spook those grayling. Awesome 👌🏻
Once again, a great video Lyn! The prefect antidote to brash, loud ‘look at me’ attention seeker content. You’ve captured the true spirit of fly fishing; just a chilled out enjoyable day, with a few nice fish in tranquil surroundings. Lovely.
Cheers Ceri! Means a lot. Yes, the older I'm getting, the more I realise what it's all about, and I'm glad it's coming across in the videos. As you know, I was a bit apprehensive about this 'non-talking' approach, but it's certainly been well received and something to work on moving forward. I'm excited for the next adventure!

Hi Lyn. I very much appreciate your vlogs. Your depiction of the venues are always honest and helpful and your advice on flies, methods, etc also great. I can say this, having fished some of the locations myself. It's also great that you cover a lot of the more affordable day ticket waters. Excellent, thank you.
Hi Dave, and thanks for the feedback. Yes, we try our best to keep it honest and informative for all. Lots of work, but always worth the effort with such positive feedback.
What a beautiful video and beautifully fished. I’m so glad you shared this. I liked the quiet approach. I don’t mind a bit of a narrative and educational chat, but I’m not a lover of back ground music, I like to hear natures sounds. And yes that does include some traffic because that’s real, and it’s a sign of the times and life, also a sign of how such a wonderful landscape exists with traffic and life lived by us. Thank you again.
Thanks David for taking the time to comment. Glad you enjoyed the video - based on the feedback, it’ll definitely be a format to take forward, less seems to be more for sure 👍
Really enjoyed this format Lyn…nice to be out fishing alongside with you in your beautiful rivers and countryside …how effective are your thermals please ? …what type and ‘set -up’ 😂 e.g. top and bottom layers etc do you find work …I want to get out more through the chillier months but would like to be as warm as possible during the shorter hours of daylight …thank you…and well done for hooking and releasing that rare local Welsh ‘Cameraman’ species 😂 and the advantages of using barbless hooks when thumbs get involved 🎣

Wonderful video, very atmospheric don't fish for grayling much any more, this has inspired me to have another go. A bit different to upstream ptn on a chalk stream.
Thanks Jan - I thought you'd appreciate this one! It's a format I'll probably use a lot more. Indeed, get out there after the grayling - as you know, they really are a special, special fish.
@@fieldsman3307I'm using a 9ft tapered leader (cut back a foot or so), a short section of 8lb mono, then approx 8-9ft tippet of 4lb mono with 3 flies around 2ft apart. Hope this helps.
Great video Lyn. I'll be heading to the Upper Wye in December. Would you be able to recommend a passport beat that is both picturesque and good for grayling? Thanks!
@@bendavis5936 thanks Ben! Appreciate the feedback. You’ll struggle to find a more picturesque beat than this: www.fishingpassport.co.uk/fishing/upper-wye/craig-llyn Well worth a visit, and it holds some specimen grayling too, if you can find them! 👍
Just discovered your channel and really like your new approach which means I can watch all the action without the sound on to annoy anyone! Could you tell me what the wading is like there? I’d love to visit that stretch but am not a confident wader. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed the video. I sometimes use a lightly weighted nymph on the point to help turn over a long leader, and of course it gets my spiders fishing a little deeper. It's a great setup I use when guiding beginners - cast downstream and hang on throughout the swing (the tug is the drug).
Thanks for the feedback - we've tried a simpflified 'non-speaking'' approach this time in an attempt to simply document a day of river amongst the natural ambience.
