I looked this video up after reading the latest edition of "Modern Locomotives Illustrated" "Class 37s - The New Era" and the original Class 37 issue which was published just after this gala took place and I twigged that there was something special about the 37/9s I now know why it does have something of the Sulzer about it the class 33 note amplified with the characteristic English Electric roar. A definite Like!
Hope you don't mind me butting in I noticed the Sulzer-like sound when you get that AND the English Electric thunder in one loco well you've got something!! (See my comment above.)

Weren’t the 37/9s prototypes for the cancelled Class 38?
Oh the thrash!!!
Awesome vid. She sounds like a mash up of EE, Sulzer, with a light sprinkling of ALCo. Thank you for sharing. Does this unit still run?

The Czech Bardotkas (Grumpies) sounded rather like this. Which I assume means they had a big 6 pot inline lump.
Ive just noticed something 37901 has a more modern roof but 906 has the original 37 roof
Well spotted, 37901 (including 902 and 903) Used roof parts that would later be used on the Class 60's
TLuke’s trains and Engines no it's not original because ( it only has one exhaust no two as in EE engined locos ) as does 37906
The Mirrlees engine is taller so the roof had to be raised to fit it all in, where as the Ruston lump only needed the exhaust port changing
