there was a picture from one of the local TV channels shoeing the left side of the track was very mangled. was the loco under power and was it heading north or south?
My favourite engine since 1980s and I saw her at booths scrapyard moments from the cutting flame and now she threw a wheel oh god 40 years of worry in one day
Got to be honest, I don't remember there being any 'Mayhem' at all?!! I thought the volunteers dealt with it all rather efficiently, and the ORR didn't call for the railway's temporary closure. This should tell us that this is considered a MINOR incident. Just my opinion.🤨
That’s why we used mayhem (meaning disorder or chaos) and not disaster They did have bad luck at the gala as well as all the great runnings but when it did go pair shaped they did not inform the paying public leaving them with no idea what’s happing for example the beer train cancellation But I’m glad you had a great gala 👍🏻
'Mayhem' just seems way to strong a word to describe it in my opinion. Rewriting timetabled movements at short notice will not be easy or quick! Think it was all handled very professionally. Even the big grown up railway would struggle with this.@@trainspottingladmidlands
The SR doesn't have the best of track condition really. One of the worst I've seen. Pales in comparison to several other preserved lines. ..and I've driven many of them as a guest. Hopefully they'll sort things out. JG.
The problem is the old rotten sleepers on so many of these heritage lines are just not up to it! The cost of replacement is beyond these light railways? It's not good for their future?
Awesome video keep up the fantastic work
Thanks! Will do!
NSE hoover plus green coaches, interesting.
11:38 Ouch! Thats gotta hurt! 😬
Definitely buddy lucky it wasn’t going fast
That’s a good video captured the event spot on, didn’t realise the 50 derailed ?
Thank you much appreciated
It was near the end of the day getting close to 7 was on the rear and as it came into the station it happened

It was on tow right on the back almost coming to stop in the station when it happened

As you saw we got the chance to see the 50 in action in the morning and it was amazing one off the reasons we actually went to the gala
❤
Thank you

I heard the derailment was track error . Very lucky it was going slow I’d hate to think what the outcome would have been going fast

50s are a heavy loco it doesnt take much to spread a piece worn track
Most likely at least the 50 wasn’t damaged
hi. i wonder if they have a crane to lift the 50 back on to the track, but why did it happen ?
They managed to get it back on track over night without a crane but as for reason it’s not been said but looks like track could be to blame
