- In this video, I review the 2024 Lexus TX 550h+ plug in hybrid. This is Lexus' version of the Toyota Grand Highlander that carries a hefty price tag.

Lexus suspension is super quality as well as other features. But at this level might as well do a Limited Grand Highlander. Toyota/Lexus is notorious for their audio being too tinny…. Not enough mids & bass. Also, if you can afford that price tag, you can also afford to fix all the bells and whistles on that thing.
I’m in the minority in this, but I find it easier to differentiate the exterior body styling between the GH and the TX. I can see the doors that are the same, styling wise, and that’s about it. Even in person, I think both looks really different.
Overall nice review Jon!
Thank you so much. Yea the body side profile definitely looks the same but aside from that, they did a good job differentiating them
There are many walkarounds for the TX what would have been nice to see is more of a focus on the phev aspects of the vehicle. Range, power, NVH. That V6 is legendary and is known to last 300k miles when built in Japan as this one is, pair that with electric propulsion and this drivetrain is near guaranteed 500k miles. The $80k price tag becomes easier to swallow.
You are spot on about the TX Mark Levinson audio system. Lots of people on forums complaining about the lack of bass.
Yea man that makes sense then. It’s lacking for sure
Nice station wagon. I agree with others Mazda cx90 better looking and less money.
Especially in that red color
I dig those temp adjustment knobs
Yea they look pretty cool!
The Mazda PHEV reliability is unknown. So I’d take the TX.
For sure! Especially if close to the same price.
CX-60 has serious transmission issue in Japan, it’s not reliability issue but multi-plates cluch is not as smooth as THS, especially in the dead slow and stop and go situation like DCT, I can’t understand why they didn’t use conventional torque-converter for transmission,.....
Jon, you need some twins of your own and double stroller to fill that thing up. 😆
Yeaaaaaaa no hahahaha
Get the Grand Highlander, its 20k less and looks better too!
100% agree
For the moment
I looked at it and it feels really cheap compared to the Lexus.
Love this tx❤❤❤
So glad!
Not worth the $$ or value. Rather put that kind of dough towards a new 7 seater GX550. Better use off road and if you need a true minivan, then get a Sienna or Odyssey
Yessss. Definitely way less MPG but if that doesn’t matter than it’s a better buy imo
or even a cx 90
The xc90 or ex90.
To close to my Highlander!
@@matopoand wish you purchased a dual port long lasting reliable Toyota after 3 years.
This is the h+. There is a difference.
Seeing this in person it's looking beautiful and alright . Maybe it's For people who looking for a 7seater that have wagon look not a boxed SUV .overall it's a great family vehicle
For sure
6 seater only on this plug in.
Definitely not worth 80K where you can get GLS which has nice interior, great 6 cyl engine
It’s unreliable though.
@@CheeseCream1205 not sure. How long just in the name of reliability you work with Toyota grade engines. Majority car buyers dont keep their car beyond 10 years.
Who really wants to fill up their gas tank and then charge their battery?
Not me, that’s for sure.
Well it’s typically cheaper to charge your battery than gas
@@TRDJon Correct, but time is money and time can take away from my fun time, so why waste it?
When Communist Biden stopped America from drilling for our own oil, forcing America to buying crude oil from our Enemies, the Supreme Court ruled that as Unconstitutional.
After the Dictator has been voted out and we hire a President who Loves America and her Citizens, then our fuel prices will drop back down to around $2 per gallon, (unless you live in Washington state, where our Communist Dictators have forced everyone into paying .98 cents per gallon of gasoline in taxes, because .48 cents per gallon wasn’t enough to fix our roads, which still aren’t being fixed). So our gasoline prices will drop to $3 per gallon.
You driving your car all night when you sleep???
@@TRDJon No, but I’m not going to pay for an EV station, nor will I be plugging in a vehicle because I think it’s stupid to buy one in the first place
@Doc1855 Just FYI, the TX550H+ has a feature that will regenerate power back so you can switch back to electric at full power and get 33 miles of range, saving you more on fuel. So NO, you don't have necessarily keep plugging it in. You can just do that when you get home to top it off for the next day.
CVT……..???
Yes
eCVT specifically. This is more practical and more reliable than the conventional CVT. Similar driving but mechanically different
Not really, the Mazda CX90 PHEV is better value and has better performance and handling
Not really - the CX90 is fundamentally flawed in that it lacks a torque converter and depends 100% on the battery to start moving for the first couple mph... I looked at them and specifically asked the dealership if the car can get up to speed if the battery was fully discharged/malfunctioning, and they said no... I am not willing to buy a "hybrid" which cannot actually get moving if the battery has a problem.
Better value is fundamentally subjective. I’ve had too many people around me with Mazda problems. They’re turbos have improved are still a hold your breath kinda deal. Lexus resale value trumps them all, period. Lexus just works, and lasts, and resales well.
Is it having issues?
Oh man not my cup of tea. Sequoia much better looking.
For sure looks good
Jon this is completely a flop product, I would choose Nissan pathfinder instead of TX
Cool, enjoy it then!
Dude I don’t think anyone actually cares about the sun roof. Answer me this, when was the last time you used it and genuinely enjoyed using it????
Agreed. I just bought a new pickup without one. Never used the sunroof on my last truck I had for ten years. Just another possible water leak point.
@@natgasf7236I didn’t want one on my 4Runner but it’s harder to find them without one than with.
I’m a sun dude…all the time…close my pano, we fighting!
Literally today on my Tacoma lol
I guess it depends on where you live. You might use it a lot in Oregon. I'm in southern Arizona. You DO NOT want a sunroof here.
Hell no.
