and why wouldn't they? People are the same across generations. If people loved the Beatles in the 60s, they're gonna love them now as well. Nobody gets surprised when kids enjoy Mozart's music, so why is kids enjoying The Beatles a surprise? I fell in love with them when I was in my teens, a decade ago, and I don't think my love for them is any different from the love someone who was there in the 60s felt. We are all people. Fundamentally, we are all the same. The calendar is made up anyway, generational differences are also made up, and in the big scheme of things the 60s really weren't that long ago and the world didn't fundamentally change *that* much.

I hate to admit it, but I didn't realize Mother Mary was a reference to his own mother until 4 years ago, when my younger sister was losing her fight against cancer. Started crying immediately. The next year our mother joined her in the undiscovered country. Next week will be 3 years since she left us, and today is the first time listening to this song since then. Tears are in my eyes again. I can never listen to this song in the same way again, but that is a good thing. Thank you, Sir Paul.

The Beatles greatest Band in the history of Music....Paul McCartney wrote this song. It was inspired by his mother, Mary, who died when he was 14. Many people thought "Mother Mary" was a biblical reference when they heard it. According to McCartney, this is a very positive song, owing to its inspiration. One night when he was paranoid and anxious, he had a dream where he saw his mother, who had been dead for ten years or so - she came to him in his time of trouble, speaking words of wisdom that brought him much peace when he needed it. It was this sweet dream that got him to begin writing the song.

Either way this song is a gift from Heaven, cause the Bible says Mother Mary will be glorified throughout all of time and this song to me surely does just that. Another good song that I enjoy is Sweet Mary by Weezer too! But that is 90-2000s rock (different time period) but worth checking them out.. much much different vibe than Beatles but these two songs share similarity in this Heavenly comfort and soothing, that can only be from Virgin Mary and Heaven itself if you were to ask me and I suppose many others.

Im 60. I remember seeing them on TV when Ed Sullivan introduced them for the now infamous Shae Stadium performance. I was very young but I distinctly remember having to sit through some warm-up act that bored us all as we ate dinner around the table with the TV on in the living room. Then the Beatles came on and I remember not being able to make out the music because of the screaming. I remember my older brother pointing out the flash bulbs going off in the stands. You could see police walking along the chain-link fence. My mom asked, "Why are they all so crazy?" and my brother says, "Because they were the first guys to have long hair"
That made sense to me because I recalled my father and my brother often arguing over the length of my brother's hair.
We only watched for maybe two songs because I remember my dad, who was still sitting at the table and likely having a cigarette and a beer said, "All right, that's enough of that noise. Turn it off and get ready for bed"
Sorry, I had a big memory jog there, just now.

I can't imagine growing up without the Beatles music being a part of my life.
I just wish today's youth would have the opportunity to have all those FM stations we had, where the DJ's had the freedom to play what they wanted, sometimes playing entire sides of an LP.... WHICH, by the way, is the way MOST of us discovered the music; buy it for one song or two, and find 6-7 more that SHOULD have been just as popular.

They both lost there moms when they were just teens.

These guys not only changed music, they changed the world! I know it doesn't fit reactor's needs, but The Beatles really needs to be a chronological journey. If you were to hear "I Am The Walrus" or "Lucy in The Sky With Diamonds" without knowing/hearing the progression it just wouldn't make nearly as much sense. Not to say it won't be enjoyable, but if you follow the path it makes perfect sense! It's hard to believe the same guys did "She Loves You" and "Helter Skelter" without some sense of how they got from one place to the other. Thankfully they left us a lot of material in their very short time as The Beatles.

Absolutely, The Beatles were influenced by many of the same artists and they readily espoused their love of that music! I really don't agree with saying that those artists were "doing this" before The Beatles. They were strong influences, yes, but they never did anything remotely like some of the Beatles material. Can you really see Elvis or Fats Domino doing "A Day in The Life" or "I am The Walrus" or "Dear Prudence"? I can't!

Welcome to the magical of the Beatles world .
I was growing up with their musics because my father was a fan , I didn't feel much when I was young beside loving the melodies .
But as I grew older , the words started sinking in , drop by drop , there are many times brought me to tears and laughs.
Best way , put on my headset when alone and just let loose .

You just heard why this group stands alone as its own category. This coming from a child of the ‘60’s who idolized Led Zeppelin, Cream, Hendrix, Stones as the titans. But the Beatles laid an evolutionary foundation that broke all barriers of creativity through their music.

I said to my mother most recently, that we are the most blessed people to experience this world in this timeline. She grew up to experience the 1950's AND 1980's. And I got to see the birth of computers, electronic music, and sit around listening to AM radio, etc. Kids today will never know what it was like to grow up in the '70's and '80's. The era the changed our world.

Oh gosh...Sarah! This is the song I played at my Dad's Memorial that included a video I compiled of his life through the years. There was not a dry eye in the house. Paul was interviewed years ago about this song and yes it was about his Mother Mary when she passed away, but he said it could mean anything to the listener. So if people wanted to make it biblical, that was wonderful. It was the perfect song for the occasion and to this day I think of Dad every time I hear it.

Reminds of be a kid again at the lunch time sessions at the Cavern, when all the bands including the Beatles where doing cover versions of songs, from the records being brought back to Liverpool by the Cunard Yanks w ho where lads from Liverpool working on the Cunard Cruise Liners sailing between Liverpool & New York.
Every band wanted to learn them and be first to do them at their gigs.
Now they are the most covered band in the World.

This song is the title track from the final studio album "Let It Be" that was released on May 1970, almost a month after the group's break-up. It had a lot of good songs on it. "The Long & Winding Road", "Get Back", "Across The Universe" etc.

@Jörn Fiebig In reality, it was a very short time, in regard to when they started recording which was their first record "LOVE ME DO" in October of 1962, so only 8 SHORT years of recording and quickly becoming incredibly popular. The amount of songs they put out is astounding is such a short period.

@JornFiebig they actually were together since 1957 when 15 year old Paul met 16 year old John. John asked Paul to join the Quarrymen, his original group. Then Paul asked John to let George join the band. About at the same time, the other members of the Quarrymen had left. They changed their name to the Silver Beatles, then the Beatles. But John and Paul started writing songs together in 1957 and they played at the Cavern in Liverpool, then went to Hamburg. By the time they broke up, they'd been together 13 years.
