I don't know who you are or how this came across my TH-cam feed, but I have subscribed to your channel solely because of your reaction to this song. From your sort of naïve playful goofiness of "Who's this John Denver guy?" at the beginning as he strums the guitar to the very immediate wake up call about 15 seconds in that "Whoa...this guy means business" to the tears flowing as I can see you digesting Denver's lyrics in your mind. It's the most genuine and pure reaction to a song I think I have ever seen. Everyone should find at least one song in their lifetime that affects them like this. I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I'm glad I clicked on the video to see what you were all about.

He was having marriage problems and went up in the Rocky mountains in Colorado and wrote this song for his first and best wife Annie. It took him just a few minutes to write this song for Annie. They remained best friends after they divorced. He had just gone through his second divorce when he was killed and Annie was his last phone call he ever made. He told her some beautiful things in that last call and she has talked about the call in a few interviews. Annie still is a very incredible and beautiful woman.

John Denver was a great singer and song writer. He also sounded just as good live as he did on the studio versions. If you loved this you should watch 'For You' from the same concert as it is stupendous.

I saw John Denver in concert in Kansas City in 1984 with my girlfriend Annie. I never heard love being sung before using notes and rhythm and the poetry of this song ..that concert is burned into my memory forever.

One of the most beautiful love songs ever. His intense love of nature and comparing it to Annie is so heartfelt. He died far too young. It broke my heart. Still does. I miss you, John Denver!

"Let me give my life to you. Let me drown in your laughter. Let me die in your arms. Let me lay down beside you. Le me always be with you." The most beautiful lines. True, unabashed love.

I love that song. John Denver died in a air plane crash. That is kinda weird cause he wrote "leaving on a jetplane". Please listen to that one. Else listen to th-cam.com/video/CHu0h9XaNcg/w-d-xo.html - it is a very old and beautiful lovesong from Scotland. “The Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond” is about two Scottish soldiers who were imprisoned on the Scottish border. One of them was going to be set free, but the other one was going to be executed. In Scottish legend, anyone who dies outside Scotland takes the “low road” back to their homeland, where they will finally be at peace.
In this song, the doomed soldier is comforting the soldier who will be set free. He tells them that “you’ll take the high road and I’ll take the low road, and I’ll be in Scotland before ye”.

Glad I grew up in a time when they made music like this. It has soul and meaning. They just don’t make music like this anymore. If you liked this one then you should listen to Neil Diamond “The Story of my life.” Probably one of his lesser known songs, but perhaps one of the best ever written. Enjoy.

He was a nice man. Yes, I knew him.But we all make mistakes.
When I was pregnant with may baby and almost lost him at 3 months, I played this and Bobby's song and sang with my whole heart for my baby to stay. He is 14 now.

I always felt that this song needed another verse. Just because I wanted it to last longer. :)

Everyone has an opinion. I've been listening to JD since I was 11 or 12. His songs are beautiful. Although, your actions seem to be fake, planed, something. It just seems that you're trying to get an Oscar. Again, that's my opinion.
