I'm so happy you got to experience this song. It isn't just music , it's an experience listening to him sing. I was only 5 yrs old when this song came out ? But my father sang and played guitar so our family grew up with a deep appreciation for his talent ❤
John and Annie never got back together but at an interview after his death she spoke very fondly of him. I dont believe they split because they stopped loving each other. She just couldn't live with the famous/busy lifestyle. I believe she cared for him throughout the rest of his life. 💔
This was a benefit concert for The National Wildlife Federatioon. This was written by John for his wife.John was a consummate singer-songwriter and composer. He wrote many beautiful songs. John was going in the to the studio to film this on a cold, rainy winter. he was astonished to see fans lined up singing another of his song while waiting to buy tickets. They were singing take Me Home Country Roads. There are many videos of this still being sung today. John was special . i saw him in concert twice and both tiems the auduience just didn't want to leave.
For You I'm Sorry, I Want To Live, Poems, Prayers & Promises, What Are We Making Weapons For, Raven s Child, Seasona of the Heart, Mathew, My Sweet Lady, Calypso, Rocky Mountain High, Windsong, Welcome to my Morning,. Just a few to get you started :) John wrote over 200 songs and recorded over 300. You have a long list to get through and you won't be disappointed.
The greatest label I can give this incredible three minutes is ... PRECIOUS. John was singing about his first Love, and he took it straight to our SOULS ...
John Denver was a fantastic singer and song writer. He has loads of great songs and sounds just as good live as he does on the video versions. This song was written in 10 minutes on a ski lift after he had a row with his wife. If you like this you would love 'For You' from his Wildlife Concert as it is stupendous. He is more a folk singer than country. He was also an environmentalist before people knew what one was. He died far too young and the world is a lesser place because of his death.
I tell my kids "great music is great music forever." It's why we still listen to Mozart, or Gershwin, or Stevie Wonder, or Queen, or Bowie. And 30 years from now, there will be new "classics," despite old people saying "they don't make good music anymore." Yes they do, gramdma; you're just not listening. John Denver had a clean, clear tenor voice and a gift for writing touching, genuine lyrics. Bless his memory.
Edit: Wildlife concert 1995 on PBS. This recording was from a benefit concert he did not long before he died in a plane crash. I think it was 1997. I don't think there's a John Denver song I dont like: Either for the music (melodic structures or harmonies) or the simple but powerful messages built into the songs...because it all came from such a sincere place of appreciating the world for its beauty and standing up for the preservation of peace and beauty in it
That was the Wildlife Concert, recorded in 1995 and presented on PBS. John was the rare performer who sounded so good on a live stage with only his simple accompaniment. He was fabulous and it is wonderful that people are finding him for the first time, and reacting with the same awe that I felt first time I heard him in 1971,

Me three ...it's soul touching ....anyone that doesn't have love like this ? Isn't doing it right ❤
John Denver can never be replaced ... his voice ... nothing can ever compare. Karen Carpenter also had the voice of an angel.
Wow...Karen Carpenter. Thank you.
