Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful songs ever written.
100% Agreed..In my opinion,, THIS is what true love sounds like ❤
His best song for sure!
He wrote this song for his wife in ten 🔟 minutes
Absolutely a gorgeous song!
Several years ago two women who didn't know each other - one younger - one older - got on an high rise elevator in NYC together. Hearing the music on the elevator The younger woman said to the older - this is such a lovely song - do you know the name of it? Yes - it's called "Annie's Song" - John Denver wrote it for me when we were married back in the 70's.
Cool story
He wrote this song for his wife Annie, at the time. They had been going through a very rough patch when he wrote this song.
Played at every wedding for the next 5 years after it came out. Then played at every other wedding forever.
Sunshine on my shoulders is a great song.
I love hearing John's voice, it's like hearing an old friend. This is my favorite song by him. One of the most beautiful songs ever written. Rest in Peace John.
Having a favorite John Denver song is like having a favorite oxygen atom while you're breathing. It just depends on where you are; literally and figuratively.
One of the most beautiful love songs ever written.
"Let me drown in your laughter, let me die in your arms"... Best love song line ever.
John had the ability to take you on a journey to the highest of heights, to pinnacles of feeling, and then bring you back to earth so gently that you don't even realize you've come down. The way he created moods that lingered long after the song ended.... amazing and never to be achieved again.
John Denver ~ “Thank God, I’m A Country Boy”
that's another great vocal performance
7th inning ⚾️stretch song
Not to mention the 6 million dollar band :)
Definitely deserves a listen !
He has one of the most comforting vocals ever!
One of the truly great love songs.
Another beautiful song from him is "Sunshine on my Shoulders".
I’m Teresa=John is the first concert I ever went to in the 70’s. They were so strict we weren’t allowed to get up while he was singing RIP John💯🔥❤️Suggest Sunshine on My Shoulders. 🔥
As good of a singer and the songwriter as he was John Denver was also an absolutely amazing guitarist. Just wanted to throw that out there. His songs are not easy to learn or play on the guitar, but they are absolutely beautiful. Sometimes it felt like so many of his chords were augmented or adding an extra note to it, but every single one of them was exactly what the song needed. He really was a master at his craft.
We miss John so much. A beautiful human being.
My mom was a huge John Denver fan. HUGE. She loved this song. Miss you so much, Mom. 1935-2012
THIS is what true love sounds like ❤
R.I.P. John 🙏
Poems, Prayers and Promises or Matthew’s Song……both beautiful!
Love Matthew ❣️
One of my all time favorite singers ..he died way too soon.
It's just the utter exaltation that gets me. Perfect love song is right.
The ease and clarity of John Denver’s tenor voice is truly remarkable.
john denver ,a great singer a great man. thanks guys. peace from oregon
He was an amazing songwriter and a true icon. I actually got to meet him shake his hand and talk to him for about 20 minutes in New Orleans several years ago. Very humble very sad to have lost him so early.
Several years ago?
@@teddtarr what are you not understanding? I met him in 1987 he died in 1997... Several years ago, it was pretty easy to understand.
@@kurtsaxton823 several years ago would be closer to 2020 at best
@@nigelreed6819 several years ago could mean 5 years to 50 years ago, hence the term several... Meaning multiple years. No specific date.
@@nigelreed6819 seems like you and Teddturd just want to argue about something. What you're saying is absolutely pointless to the statement that I made.
John wrote Annie's song in about 20 minutes...while taking a walk near his home in Colorado. Be well and happy, Duke
Es una delicia para los sentidos, cuanto amor,y delicadeza de este hombre, bravo
His songs are from his heart ❤️
You need to play Thank God, I'm a country boy! It's totally different!
Yes, a clever song that endeared him to country music fans...but he was NOT a country music singer, he was an all around songwriter based on his folk music roots.
This song is so overwhelming beautiful and so good.
It's a perfect love song. From the music, to the melody to the lyrics. Some rather intense lyrics in places.
Why does this song make me cry!! I really don't know. But it's always done this. And it's the music, not the lyrics, that does it. It just oozes happiness.
It's voice. He hits certain notes that you feel deep in your heart and your soul.
Plus the lyrics are absolutely beautiful.
Lastly, the pain of losing such a gifted musician is still fresh all these years later.
The violins are so beautiful in this song, the words and his voice as well.
Listen to him sing “The Eagle and The Hawk”. Those soaring vocals will give you goosebumps.
John Denver has one of my all time favorite voices. An incredible songwriter as well.
Another beautiful song - so romantic ❤
John wrote a song titled " Looking for space " that brought the crowd to there feet. A very moving, beautiful song. You will not be disappointed if you do a reaction to it.
This song and Barry Manilow's "Could It Be Magic" are Master Level examples of writing a 70's love song!
That song was based on a Chopin piece, used in the intro on piano -inspired by Frédéric Chopin's Prelude in C minor, Opus 28, Number 20.
I am astonished that Barry Manilow is an artist who has yet to merit reaction on this channel. Given his wildly successful 50 year career and dozens of hit songs, I have to wonder why?
He was an original and a master.. I loved his Christmas specials as a kid.. ❤
Must be the best love song ever so emotional and brilliant lyrics so so good ❤
I first heard this song on my crappy little car radio in my VW Beetle on my way home from work in the summer of 1974. I fell in love with it immediately. What’s not to love? What woman wouldn’t want this written and sung for her? Just an amazing iconic song. Thanks for choosing this. 🌺✌️
Good to be back home again is one of my favorites.
I have always loved this song. ❤❤❤❤❤
Great song by the great John Denver.
I'm so glad you guys didn't go your whole lives without hearing this beautiful song !
Beautiful John Denver song!!❤❤
I grew up listening to John Denver, and always thought he was a great singer/songwriter. This is poetry put to music; so beautiful and relaxing.
The man could paint a picture with his words..
It is a beautiful song and bittersweet as John an Annie ended up eventually divorcing. He was a one of a kind musician and singer.
He sounded exactly the same live. Beautiful soul gone too soon. "Grandma's Feather Bed" is a hoot.
I love "Grandma's Feather Bed"!!! 👏👏👏👏❤️
John Denver is great and nature is for everyone, I love how he highlights simpleness, love, and subtly God. I think everyone can imagine themselves somewhere serene and calm in his singing. Taken from us too early.
Actually "Oh God" part 1 and 2 lol. Anyway what kind of God takes the best from us too soon? That always stinks to me.
Speaking of songs that were used for wedding songs,, This absolutely beautiful classic was chosen by MANY,, Chicago "Colour My World" (1970)
John Denver almost always sang about the great outdoors, even in a love song like this.
"Like a night in the forest." Although that's not for me, I would be scared to death at night in a forest, it would fill up my senses alright, and probably my pants...
@@thomastimlin1724😂
Honest…..Unfettered…..Pure.
This was one of the songs played at my wedding to my best friend in 1987. This song still brings feelings of love for my wife.
He was so amazing
Love this song , I remember hearing it way back in 1974 inconcert,. He has a few footstomping songs like Grandmas feather bed . Its completely diferent than anything you have heard. John Denver had a pitch perfect voice ,he never went flat or sharp. When this concert happened most of my friend though John was not worth going to see. Boy was they wrong. It turned out to be the best concert I ever saw. It still is the best concert I have ever seen .
One of the best love songs ever. Period.
Someone else may have said this, but you would LOVE the live version of this from the Wildlife concert. It’s even more beautiful! 💕
His duet of his song "Leaving on a Jet Plane" with Mama Cass is grear👍❤️🎩
If this song was written for me, i wouldn't stop crying! It's beautiful. He's telling Annie how alive he feels with her in his life. It can't get better than that.🥰😎👍
I'm a rocker but this song has always hit me in the feels. Masterpiece ballad.
Its a song anyone can play to their loved one and make it feel extra special for that person
My favorite John Denver song.
John Denver,, For you
John's 'For You' showcases his vocal prowess.
John's song "Poems, Prayers and Promises" is beautiful -- one of his best ever.
This too is my favorite John Denver song.
Anny best twin. Great soul. Great love.
I saw him in concert and was blown away, He was a huge talent that lived a tortured life, Gone to soon
It really brings tears to me as you may know he has died in a plane crash & another song of his was called 'Leaving on a Jet Plane' - so heartbreaking. I love all of his wonderful songs & miss him dearly.
I'm so grateful i grew up in an era that understood the emotions that love conjures. I used to practice figure skating to this! Instructor loved John Denver.
Nobody sings or even speaks with pure utter love and it's dearly missed. Thank you, Mr. Denver, for being so open with your love. You were an anomaly.
One of the most beautiful love songs ever!
Beautiful song in tribute to his wife! John Denver was a gifted singer songwriter & actor. He had so many great hits in the 70's-80's such as "Fly Away", "Leaving On A Jet Plane", "Grandma's Feather Bed", " "Poems, Prayers & Promises", "Sunshine On My Shoulders" etc. John appeared in several films & television specials during the 70's-80's, including the 1977 hit "Oh, God!", in which he starred alongside George Burns.
and who doesn't find themselves falling in love with John as they listen to this song?
One of the most overlooked Denver songs, but amazing IMO is called My sweet lady. I sang this to my wife at our wedding
One of the greatest love songs, ever.
My mother sometimes does not know who I am, but she remembers the words to country roads and we sing like we are young again. 💗
Used to sing this song to my son when he was a toddler to get him to fall asleep. He would look at me in wonder with a sense of peace that I remember clearly to this day.
Give a listen to his song, For You, that he sang at his wildlife concert. He played the piano in that one. Beautiful song like this one.
He's just singing from the heart, real and authentic, a lost art today 👍
My Dad sings this to my Mom often. Still going strong, 50+ years married. 💜 Definitely one of the best love ballads of all time imo. And of course John Denver singa like no other. 🔥 Thanks for posting this!!
Happy Canada Day!! 🍁
Imagine, if you will, a duet sung by John Denver and Eva Cassidy. Probably the truest, most perfect pitch harmonies ever in music. If there’s a heaven, i can’t wait to hear them singing together.
...and both artists playing their guitars. Even if it exists only in my imagination, that is an amazing and tender/heartbreaking thought.
You must listen to This Old Guitar, the live version where he explains what the guitar means to him. Also I love the song Matthew!
That's an amazing performance. So touching.
One of my faves from John for sure.
I saw him in concert in Tokyo in the 1970s and have bought some of his albums.
"Follow Me" is another of his songs that I would strongly recommend.
Back in the day, this was such a popular song played at weddings. So lovely. ❤
"It's hard to listen to this and smile" makes me think that you need to hear "Sunshine On My Shoulders", as others have mentioned.
One of my favorite songs of John's is "This Old Guitar". It reminds me of all of those times out in the woods sitting around a campfire at night and singing those campfire standards. Would recommend.
this was played at several weddings over the years.
Just a beautiful love song. This is OUR song, always has been, and we're celebrating our 47th wedding anniversary next month
“It was written after John and I had gone through a pretty intense time together and things were pretty good for us,” Martell once explained. “He left to go skiing and he got on the Ajax chair on Aspen mountain and the song just came to him. He skied down and came home and wrote it down…Initially it was a love song and it was given to me through him, and yet for him it became a bit like a prayer.”
Being the age I am I sometimes forget how much I love an artist's music If I hadn't heard it for a while... I absolutely loved John Denver's music... I'm gonna go through some of his songs and put them on my Playlist so I don't forget them... I remember John when he was with peter Paul and Mary in the 1960s... He was one of the song writers that they worked with and he wrote " Leaving on a jet plane "... He and his music are missed everyday... He was a great humanitarian as well... Thanks for playing this, guys...Keep Being Awesome !!!...
Your third song by John is one of the best ever.
Sunshine on my shoulders. My mother loved, as I, too, loved this song.
One of my favorite songs!
Lucky to have seen in twice in concert .. at the old universal amphitheater he ended the concert w these words: Peace my friends .. besides being a great singer he was an extraordinary person .. miss his kindness
Love John.. another hippie... Far out man. ✌
You need to just listen to the entire "Wildlife Concert" album.....Live concert, but with his beautiful voice he doesn't need a "studio" version. I had the privilege of seeing him live in concert twice....
Jane H commenting …. John Denver was such a great songwriter & his songs usually told a story. His voice was so pure.
Awww.. thanks, guys... this is probably one of the most romantic songs evah! (he also does this LIVE just as beautifully) appreciate your reaction..
It is absolutely one of the most beautiful love songs in the world. This song takes you away 😊❤
