  • This week, I hacked a pattern made for knits and instead did machine shirring over the bodice. Follow along as I sew up this dress.

    Hello from Indiana USA. I've vacationed in Spain twice and loved the culture and the beauty of Mediterranean coast. Watching your videos causes me to think about another trip.
    I find your videos so inspiring. You tackle more advanced techniques with such ease.

    I loved the quote at the end! You certainly tried something new…and not something easy either. The dress looks fabulous and your ingenuity shines through every decision. 😊

    The dress is beautiful. I think I would have given up on the shirring though! I tried it once and it did not go well so I am tempted now to try it again but maybe only on sleeves or waist.

      Thank you! Shirring can be a bit tricky at first, but don't hesitate to give it another go. Starting with sleeves or the waist is a great idea to practice and build your confidence. Happy sewing! 💜😁

    This is lush! How much fabric did you need in the end to adjust for the woven aspect?

    • @SewingandtheCity
      @SewingandtheCity  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I had 3 meters! But I also made it quite long 🙂

    So lovely! Did you have to loosen the tension screw on the bobbin case? Maybe some of the newer machines do this automatically.👗

    • @SewingandtheCity
      @SewingandtheCity  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't! But I realize how important the even winding of the bobbin is to the tension. Some of my rows were tighter than others and it definitely has to do with the hand tension I used while winding the bobbins 💙
